London Style Brew now in Manila: Costa Coffee

Sunday, June 28, 2015

Great news for coffee lovers out there, there's a new brand in town and this really came in the right time when we're almost all bored about the usual coffee shop we see in major thoroughfares. London based Costa Coffee is now in the Philippines and they're gearing to put up more stores in the country soon.  Costa Coffee was founded in London by Bruno and Sergio Costa sparked by their love for premium quality coffee. They've got 40 years of experience to back that up and over 3,000 Costa stores around the world to prove it. Their goal is to be the worlds most loved coffee shop brand, a feat that they can well do in the next few years I bet.

The Interiors

The place has 2 floors and is pretty much reflected to be much like the streets of London inside complete with a red phone booth outside which you can take photos with. The interior's made of several brick walls, upholstered and regular seats that would gladly be reminiscent of an Austin Powers movie.

It's the London culture, the vibe, the colors that they would like you to see inside the store. There several corners in this place that I would have loved to reserve for myself when I get the chance to hang out in Eastwood, especially the window seats. Remember, the Brits are some of the worlds most demanding customers and if they want quality on their drinks or food, they need to get it and this is much of a standard thing in Costa Coffee shops I'm sure.

The Coffee and Grub

Costa Coffees are hand crafted and espresso based. I was sure the barista had his hands full almost the whole day to make perfect cups of coffee while we were there. These men are schooled to do so and they've also got coffee masters to make sure the quality doesn't fall off much from the tree. the crowd favorite was the Flat White. I liked that too but I'm gearing towards more strong coffee based drinks during this time and I must tell you I like the Capuccino and Iced Mocha better.

This is the Mocha, I loved it because it's intense and cold, perfect for hot afternoons.

The Capuccino was really good, but it's pretty cold there so make sure you consume it right after they put it on your table.

Pair up the Capuccino with their freshly baked Croissants and you're done. It was really good, I loved the fact that they used real butter and these are all made from scratch.

This is one of their original concoctions, it's called Strawberry Pavlova. Patterned by that really good Eastern European dessert, they've got tons more of these frozen treats available inside their stores. It's not too sweet, that syrup on top really tasted like fresh fruit and not just sugar... you know what I mean.

Among the cakes they have inside the store, I loved this the most. This is their London Cheesecake. It's a little on the salty side so you get that cheesecake flavor like a punch. That for me is real good and it might be even better with the New York counterpart you always order in other coffee joints.

For those who don't want it sweet, I suggest you get this Mango Sago cake which was foamy and light. I think this is gelatin and cream based hence the lightness. Ladies would love this for sure.

If you want something more filling, take a trip downstairs and get sandwiches too. They also have freshly made Salads so you really have choices in this joint.

They've got latte art all over the hot coffee and I like this cup of Caffe Caramella which to me felt like a sweet treat even if its coffee. I'd like to recommend you to have this especially if you're a sweet tooth. It'll make you warm and fuzzy!

Price wise, Costa Coffee is very competitive... for the quality of coffee that you're going to have from their store, I even think it's well worth it. You're not just paying for the name, you're getting your money's worth. That's good news. They're planning to put up and open 4 more stores within the year in Tera Towers, Robinsons Ermita, BGC and Robinsons Antipolo. Costa Coffee will be also holding promos like FREE Frostino Mocha Cream if you order it with a British accent from 2-4PM on the stores opening day. Make sure you follow their channels below so you don't miss out in those opportunities. Thanks for the bloody coffee dear! They're opening doors on June 29, and first 10 in line will get FREE Coffee for a whole year!
