LG Philippines Dares You to "Ask LG"

Friday, August 23, 2024

I've seen it on social channels several times, and now know why they're daring you to "Ask LG".

It's their initiative to make sure customers of their home appliances get to be closer than before with the brand, their customer service channels and information about your LG product. This is quite good to see especially from a consumer standpoint because it takes product knowledge to another level. Online content is useful and if it is used correctly, it should be data driven, much like what they are doing in "Ask LG".

In the series of videos, they will take frequently asked questions and make sure to answer details that consumers should and want to know about their LG products. This is actually big because as of this writing, the 100 videos they have published has already been watched by 26.5 Million times, and been subscribed by over 119 thousand followers on socials.

Imagine how easy this would be to be watched by customers who have access to the internet so they wouldn't have to go through the arduous task of calling, email or brick and mortar ways of getting help. It's like they've made these so you get the information you need, when you need it. This includes troubleshooting guides, product pages, things that you can see fast when you click and watch it.

In the videos, they include vacuum nozzles, cleaning sofa, why there's no ice on your freezer, things like that. They also teach through these videos how you can take care of your TV screens, your refrigerators, and the rest of your LG appliances. Make sure you follow their social channels now so you can get a whole lot more about your favorite LG products, simply online.

No more drama, just Ask LG!

Loren Legarda Emphasize Significance of IP's in Environmental Measures

Thursday, August 22, 2024

What's nature without people taking care of it? Surely, this has been something in the mind of Senator Loren Legarda last August 12 when she did a privilege speech on National Indigenous Peoples day. She deem these communities have centuries worth of experience in these vast areas they reside on and should take this as an advantage in making sure they are well taken cared of.

Senator Legarda adds "They are after all the ones who could take good care of it, toil, first hand, especially if we are taking lengths to make efforts for the environment and nature. We need to harness their expertise since they have their families in these communities, one that could do work and benefit our country. They live and breathe in nature, this we have to make sure."

In recent reports by the world bank, she mentions how "No Data, No Story: Indigenous Peoples in the Philippines" painted a huge picture about the ancestral domains that includes over 44 percent of land in the country, where only 17 percent have been approved of.

She reiterated the need to support them and recognize how huge their contributions are for the cause. She also wants their rights to be protected. If you would want to know more about her efforts, you may follow her social channels where she discusses these lengthily especially on FB.

TATERS Celebrates 30 TRENTAstic Years in the Philippines

Taters Event Team Snack Slammers photos from PixRebuplic

It was a Trentastic day to spend with media, celebrities, influencers, partners, suppliers and executives from Taters as they celebrate their 30th year in the country. This was held at the SM GAME PARK at Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

I still remember the time when they were only serving popcorn and chips, but now they've already ventured into other food items that are loved by movie goers nationwide!

These days, they've managed to do chicken, fish, burgers, even churkey hotdogs for more flair. They adapted quite well even during the pandemic, and now that they are celebrating 30 years in the industry, they're raring to launch a few more food and beverage items so you can enjoy it inside the cinemas or at the comforts of your home.

Here's some highlights of the event:

Now you can see them in different parts of the country catering to sports events, game centers, even delivery services because they can. CEO Ana Maria Tanchanco attributes their success to customers who make demands of their products, it just keeps them on their toes.

They also partnered with new SM Game Park so they could reach new mall goers who just need a small bite before or after their activities inside the mall. Taters COO Joseph Brian Tanchanco knows their extensive menu inside the facility will be bang for the buck, and become a part of the Taters experience they've been doing for 30 years.

Our participation in the Trentastic Game On Sport + Snack Tournament was surely one for the books! I played Bowling, Billiards, a few more activities til my back had sores. Congratulations to TATERS for having us at their fun event! Cheers to even more years after this fun 30th anniversary celebration!

Connecting through music, Taiwan's External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) will be holding "Your Song of Excellence: Duo Legacy" Grand Finals at Ayala Malls Market!Market! this coming August 31, 2024. This is a nationwide competition of duo singers and from thousands of entries, only three made it to the finals. They are Haranajeeb Duo, The Unexpected Duo and the Mandarhyme Duo.

This is hard to do because from their eliminations, they are now asked to compose 2 songs of 3:30 minutes each that will be performed on stage with one of the entries being the jingle with the theme "The Best Made in Taiwan". Catch is, it should contain the words "Taiwan Excellence" and will be judged through their core values of innovation, interests, sustainability and quality. Still Dishing Out Freshly Squeezed Content: Orange Magazine Celebrates 14 Years!

Friday, August 16, 2024

I've had the opportunity to know about Orange Magazine a couple years ago, well decades, maybe even more. It's been 14 years of showcasing some of the freshest and orangey celebrities, companies, brands, and they've really done well in making sure to put their message across.

Orange Magazine Editor Jeman Bunyi Villnueva has been a friend. One that you can talk frankly with if you're in a rut. You can say we're some of the more experienced bloggers in the industry together with a few common friends who's been here the longest. Every year, he's managed to celebrate their milestones and showed how much he's thankful for those who have supported his website and social channels.

In his 14th year, we were all invited to his gathering at Joy Nostalg Hotel and Suites (Managed by Accor). At The Roof, they had a program featuring Filipino Canadian artists DK Tijam, DK Talents Keyleigh Cerezo, Keeana Cerezo and local acoustic guy Destiny Palisoc who opened the event. DK Tijam by the way will be having a concert at the Music Museum on August 16th with power belter Dessa and Troy Laureta. They will also be joined by Antoinette Targa, Chelsea Star and Bella Magbag plus other surprise guests. They properly call it "By Request: Your Playlist Live on Stage", and they'll be performing some of their OPM favorites plus a few RnB and Pop numbers which is equally exciting!

Orange Magazine has been given accolades and recognition from different bodies. Jeman was a bit emotional thanking the PR agencies, brands that have returned the favor and made their presence felt during the occasion, they even sent some goodies plus a few prizes for blogger/influencer guests amounting to almost 250K to be given just on this day.

"Orange Magazine and I would like to thank their sponsors Beautéderm (for all the beauty products they sent), PLDT Home, AirAsia, airasia MOVE (who gave local and international flights to lucky winners), Grab (who gave Grab credits), Narr8 PH, M360 PR+Activations Agency, LG Philippines (who gave LG products for lucky participants), DITO Telecommunity, foodpanda, EON PH, TikTok Shop, RLC Residences (who also gave Robinsons GC's), realme (who gave audio devices), AGENTS, International Persuasion Specialist, Launch & Meet, maya, COMCO Southeast Asia, Midea, LadyBug, FuentesManila Public Relations, GCash, Eggshell PR, Metrobank, Bridges Creative Ideas & Strategies, OPPO, Doogee, HONOR Philippines, Buensalido Public Relations, Stratworks, Dominguez Marketing Communications Inc., Pau Bautista, Potato Corner (who gave potato corner GC's), Cherry Philippines (who gave the Air Purifier which I won), Kingsford Hotel Manila (for us who won the hotel stay!), Grand Westside Hotel, Ardent Communications, BrandComm, Grupo Agatep, Mang Inasal, Full Circle Communications, Precious PR, WSP, Tai Chi Rub & VCO Liniments, Moringa Vita, JG Superstore (who gave some tripods to lucky ones), Manila Marriott Hotel, Novotel Manila Araneta City, ibis Styles Manila Araneta City, Centaur Marketing, SceneStealer, SAFC, Spark It Philippines, DMNA, Home Credit PH, Michael Cruz (of the Home Credit PH peeps), Corner Magazine PH, Shigetsu, Kleenfant, Mikana, ALPAS Consultancy, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Moonton (who gave us lucky ones Diamonds for the game), Lorem Ipsum Consulting Inc., Whip Public Relations & Communications, Lilee & Kukael by Gus Villa, City of Dreams Manila, Phillippine Integrated Advertising Agency (PIAA), The Bellevue Manila, Nawa Wellness, Calatagan, ASUS, Swissotel Clark, Widus Hotel Clark, MSL Influence Impact, Greenwich, Goldilocks, The Farm at San Benito, A-List & Partners Consulting Group Inc., Pascual Laboratories, Ascorbic Acid Poten-Cee (which gave their best products to lucky ones), BrandIt, SKECHERS (gave a pair of shoes to Rod Magaru), MODE DEVi Media Inc., Chuck Gomez, Sip & Chug Coffee (owned by Sai Montes, had good drip coffee!), Pix Republik/Reel Republik Studios (for our official photos), Ogilvy, Epson, DigitalHog, Reneue Beauty and Wellness, CAT PR, Rain Ferdinand, IPR, Utterly Techie, Renjie Tolentino Photography (a good friend who also did shots for the event, he does it professionally)."
Now, he's got a whole team he calls Team Orange who helps him with events and coverage. They're pretty good people. Jeman knows how to also discern folks, and to this day, he's still going to be talking a lot, writing a lot, and connect to even more people. I only wish him all the best, because that's exactly what he has been doing. Plus he wants a love life happen soon, maybe that would make it complete.

Congratulations to Orange Magazine! From us at KUMAGCOW.COM (meaning me), we'll be cheering you on to reach even greater milestones in the coming years!

Stories of the Road: The Origins of Banaue Rice Terraces

Thursday, August 15, 2024

Learning from books is one thing, but learning from people who lived and breathe it would be something so much better.

Dubbed as the 8th wonder of the world, the Banaue Rice Terraces remains as one of the things we all marvel at because yes, as it says, it's impressive to know that it was not made with much tools but with just bare hands. The folks from Stories of the Road (a YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/@Storiesoftheroad ) wanted to find out from locals the actual origins of it. Armed with a drone, a few film cameras, they arrived in Ifugao and got the surprise of their life. The community wasn't just plainly taking it easy that day, they were celebrating and yes, it was an opportune time to get to know more about the culture and its people.

This is the handy work of Eric Gamorot (the Director), Rhett Paul Bolivar (the Producer), John Paul Bolivar (Production Assistant), and Marky Ramone Go (Writer). They were in the quest to find out the origins of the Banaue Rice Terraces. It was a different perspective because it didn't come from historians, but the folks who had their own stories passed on from generation to generation. They feel this was a more accurate narrative. They also got DK Tijam to do the narration for the episodes, so make sure you listen in on their conversation.

Eric talked about this lengthily during the Orange Magazine 14th anniversary event, please watch this:

Here is the first episode:

Here's the newest episode which includes their experience witnessing a full on festival in Ifugao!

Their goal would be to go to other places in the country to do the same. They've gotten really good feedback upon releasing their first episode, and recently released their second one on the channel. If you would like travel content like this, you may subscribe to their channel and follow their social media accounts to get updated about their content.

Chavit Singson Wishes Yulo Family Unity: Offers Hefty Reward

Wednesday, August 14, 2024

Gymnast Carlos Yulo brought home 2 Olympic Gold Medals for the country and a worthy heroes welcome was made for our golden boy, 2 of our bronze boxer medalists Nesthy Petecio, Aira Villegas, and our hard working Olympians this week.

While the whole country celebrates, part of the media noise that was hounding Yulo's win was about his family, his Mom's press conference and previous statements on social media. Mogul and former Ilocos Sur Governor Chavit Singson recently pronounced his offer of over 5 Million pesos, to be accepted by Carlos' family, and his partner, together.

The former governor expressed that this reward is not solely about his recent medals but an offer for the unity of the Yulo family. He says "This reward I hope would be a message for the people that stand by them, those that offer love, their guidance and support."

He also wants this to be an inspiration for Filipino families to do the same, to become the needed support if they're overcoming challenges or winning in life.

Your Favorite Ascorbic acid Poten-Cee Turns 50

Tuesday, August 13, 2024

When you've seen the brand since you were a kid and you've known they've existed even way before, you're not old, but EXPERIENCED :)

Your favorite Vitamin C brand is turning 50, and this marks their newest campaign of "Fifty, Fortified, and Forging Forward".

From existing in the pre-war era, they have always supported your Vitamin C needs from your Great Grandparents, to your kids, and your children's children. And now, they're actually supporting you and your different lifestyles. From the original sugar coated ones made in 1974, they now have different variants. They did this to follow your different needs, because we do.

The Sodium Ascorbate or Poten-Cee NA is for those who prefer it to be non acidic, the Poten-Cee Chewable is for those who are in a hurry, Poten-Cee Forte is for those who prefer a higher dosage and takes about 8 hours to do it, Poten-Cee Sugar-Free are for those who watch their sugar intake (diabetics like me). There's even more!

They are also forging forward with Poten-Cee + C Marine Collagen, that's collagen from fish and animal sources. They are there for you since inception, but still makes sure to also help by giving sizeable donations for victims of Typhoon Carina.

They've also joined TikTok Shop and will be having live selling sessions on September 9 at 11AM and October 15 at the same time. Follow their social channels by searching for their accounts PotenCee_PH. Best to see your doctor if symptoms persist. Congratulations as always Pascual Lab!

Foundations Address Hunger, Sanitation Needs in Eruption Stricken Areas

Monday, August 12, 2024

There is still prevalent hunger in the country and we have to address it. Aside from that, there is a deep concern about sanitation especially when the uneventful things happen. Recently, BingoPlus Foundation took initiative in bringing in over a thousand groceries, food packs and sanitation kits for evacuees in Negros Occidental because of the eruption of Mount Kanlaon. This was done with local government officials of La Castellana and the Nikki Cares Foundation.

This was in support of the First lady's "Lab for All" medical program where BingoPlus Foundation organized volunteers and logistics in a medical mission for a little over 8000 indigents in the region. They also did this for those in General Santos City, giving 500 folks needed flu vaccines specifically in Purok Mapailubon, plus necessary sanitation facilities to be utilized by different barangays in the area.

They also launched and funded a Dressmaking Training Center for residents of San Isidro, together with their government partners TESDA and DOLE. This is through their KabuhayanPLUS livelihood program which has several projects across the country. This is part of their Barangay Bigayan initiatives which addresses community issues whether it is for service, health and infrastructure needs. They are also moving to put in something for emergency preparedness rather than just doing post disaster responses. This is why DigiPlus President Andy Tsui wants to do in every emergency they have to go to. This is their vision for BingoPlus Foundation which he heads.

Restored and Remastered JOSE RIZAL Released by GMA Pictures

I've watched this film a couple of times and seeing the efforts of GMA Pictures, I'm impressed about what I saw during the screening at the Manila Metropolitan Theater. This is the newly restored and remastered JOSE RIZAL.

This is a masterpiece by Director Marilou Diaz Abaya. Picking up a physical film reel and seeing it damaged through use, time and the elements must have GMA feel it needs to be taken cared of. This took them a total of 1600 hours to do to fix the missing frames, burn marks, take off the dirt and run a new audio (5.1 Stereo) so we could now have an immersive version of this heavily awarded film which was shown at MMFF in 2018. This stars Cesar Montano, Jhong Hilario, Joel Torre, Jaime Fabregas, Pen Medina, Gardo Versoza, Gloria Diaz, Mon Confiado, Chin Chin Gutierrez, Micky Ferriols, Ronnie Lazaro, Irma Adlawan, Tony Mabesa, Nanding Josef, Joel Lamangan, Ping Medina, and a stellar cast.

Restoring this film means a lot of things, it will be in digital form from hereon and would be possible to show to future generations who choose to see what it was like in previous generations. I was also touched at how National Artist Ricky Lee, Marc Abaya (son of Director Marilou Diaz Abaya) felt during their speech, and how much importance was given to the film and for the people behind it. The stars were also at the event during Cinemalaya, and they were all smiles after the screening. The kind of life we have would certainly be changed with even more films planned to be restored. Imagine the things people could learn by watching historical films, or even the film making process. Congratulations to GMA for doing this good deed. It's all worth it!

DESSA, TROY LAURETA, DK TIJAM and DK Talents Set to Perform "By Request: Your Playlist Live on Stage" at the Music Museum

August 16 is a special day for OPM artists Dessa, Troy Laureta and DK Tijam as they do "By Request: Your Playlist Live on Stage" at the Music Museum. They will be performing with Toronto based DK Talents Kayleigh Cerezo, Keeana Cerezo, Antoinette Targa, Chelsea Star and Bella Magbag. This is produced by DK Talents, Orange Magazine (who's celebrating their 14th Anniversary btw) and Backstage Entertainment. They will be singing your favorite pop songs, OPM greats in one venue, taking your online streaming dreams into life, live on stage... so you get to enjoy it even better!

Kayleigh Cerezo

Keeana Cerezo

We got to talk to DK Tijam, sisters Kayleigh and Keana Cerezo during a press conference last August 8, 2024 at Orange Magazine's 14th Anniversary Thanksgiving event held at Joy Nostalg Hotel and Suites in Ortigas.  The last time I got to talk to him was a few years ago during a homecoming meet with his fans in Quezon City. He also did a concert back in 2017 called RESTART at the Teatrino in Greenhills, so this new one is going to be in a bigger venue.

Keeana has been trained by DK and has been winning several competitions in Canada. It was obvious when she sang a few songs at the event, especially with RnB songs, her rifts were crazy. Kayleigh on the other hand is part of Mini Pop Kids, a performing group with several equally talented kids performing in Toronto and nearby cities, she also has a Netflix show, very successful in her own rate. It was so nice to see them perform, this time in Manila.

Keeana says "I've trained with him since I was 15 and helped develop my sound, specializing in more R&B. This also developed my artistry, how I perform and develop my voice."

Kayleigh adds "I've known DK Tijam half of my life. He literally watched me grow, albeit being a very busy person, he really taught us the technicalities of singing. This is what we appreciate the most about him."

DK says "This coming Friday, we will be having a concert at the Music Museum. We will be performing with DK Talents and a few more from Canada. We also have Ms. Dessa, a very powerful belter, when you say high notes, she's it. Her stage performance is also monstrous, and we've become friends on the KUMU platform. She also invited Troy Laureta to perform with us on this concert, a David Foster prodigy. He's worked with Arianna Grande, Jordin Sparks, Regine Velasquez, Martin Nievera and a whole lot more. We would be so happy to see you there! Being able to perform at the Music Museum is a dream of mine, and we were just joking around in doing this first but now it's all coming true!"

Here's our chat together with the crowd at the event. Hearing them sing, I'm quite excited about what's going to happen at the actual concert! This is just the tip of the iceberg!

The concert is also supported by PLDT Home, Air Asia, AGENTS International Inc., Joy Nostalg Hotels and Suites Manila, and our love, beauty brand Beautederm.  They also send their thanks to AirAsia Move app, Grab, Tai Chi, Morninga Vita, Pascual Laboratories Inc., Mang Inasal, Red Apron and ALPAS Consultancy.

Tickets are available on Ticketworld.com.ph or at the Music Museum box office. You can also order via Dianne Edosma 09352057132 or Owlan Alvar 09275939673. If this doesn't convince you to see them live, I don't know what will. They're absolutely world class!

SB19, Sandara Park, G22 + More Artists Made Acer Day 2024 Epic!

Saturday, August 10, 2024

I think I'm still trying to recover from the recent Acer Day 2024 celebration at the Mall of Asia Arena. Seeing some of the country's brightest stars, singers, performers in one stage must have been impossible at one point, but Acer Philippines made it happen.

It was like a dream, seeing Cup of Joe dish out several trendy songs, TJ Monterde singing some of his hits, Ebe Dancel also doing some heartfelt numbers, and Rico Blanco taking the performance level to even greater heights, it was just amazing!

TJ Monterde telling us stories about his songs, and one of which was for KZ Tandingan

The younger ones in the crowd surely had a different type appreciation of Ebe Dancel

Rico Blanco was on a different level!

Sandara Park, G22 and SB19!

SB19 showed why they are the kings of PPOP!

If that was not enough, they also had our lovely Sandara Park performing with G22 her hit single IN or OUT. Plus G22's PPOP hits, and our favorite boys from SB19. Seeing them this time, I now know who my bias is and yes, it's Felip! His vocals are unique and deep, which I absolutely felt so crazy about. If you missed the concert, I have their performances on my TikTok account, you can check TikTok.com/@kumagcow for it (and follow please!). It was unforgettable, and felt that we can do anything after that. We are LIMITLESS!

Congratulations Acer Philippines and thank you so much for giving us an extraordinary treat! Being in this year's celebrations of Acer Day is just on a different level and people appreciated the booths, the appliances you displayed, and the new laptops you made accessible at the MOA Arena grounds.

A Journey of Grief, Acceptance and Relationships with Cinemalaya's KONO BASHO

Thursday, August 08, 2024

When I first looked at the entries for Cinemalaya this year, I took interest in this one. It was just fate when we had to take the trip down south to watch KONO BASHO, produced by Project8 and Mentorque Productions, written and Directed by Jaime Pacena II. One that talks about grief, acceptance, building or re-building relationships.

Kono Basho literally means "This Place". The story is about two sisters who met during their biological father's funeral in Rikuzentakata, a city in Northern Japan. For those who don't know, this city has been ravaged by the huge earthquake and tsunami that hit the Iwate prefecture in 2011. In a sense, they really haven't fully built things like how they were, but are now experiencing something even more tragic... plus the feeling of awkwardness because the sisters really didn't know much about each other.

Ella is Filipino via her Mom with her Japanese Father, whilst Reina is born to a Japanese mother (one that was kind and understanding). Friction between them was quite a lot, young women that were both damaged by their past, circumstances and distance. Rikuzentakata might have symbolized what they went through in the story, they both lost their Dad, with unequal memories of him because Ella never experienced life with him.

This starts their journey together, in a partly civil, kind, but definitely torn in a lot of ways. It's great how the director never forced the conversation in Filipino or Japanese. It felt natural, and fitting. You could feel their pain, their longing for love, and how much they wanted to find it from other people, and hopefully, with each other.

This has depression and all the things related to it. They also gave a glimpse of kintsugi, an art form of pottery where they use gold to put broken pieces together. It symbolized how fragile they were. They will take you in on that story, where you continue to hope if they'd be able to fix it. It shows their spirit, their community, and how you could move on from heartbreaking parts of your life.

Gabby Padilla isn't new to the business, and she showed how one could carry intellectual and emotional conversations like a light switch. You could say much of the conversation revolved and evolved around her, but it was done with intricacy, understandable diction, as she played an educator in the film. We asked her about her experience shooting the film especially since there's a language difference the actors had to endure. Her previous films actually helped!

As for the level of distraught you'll get from the film, Director Jaime Pacena said that they actually had a different treatment. You'll learn more about it as you watch the film. Even if the topic was so serious, it still felt quite refreshing to the eyes because the views there, were all just amazing! This is also the comeback film of Dan Villegas, one of the finest cinematographers in the country.

While the Japanese cast (especially the Mother and Reina) performed quite remarkably in this film (I've seen their previous projects and even shows on NHK), Gabby was up there with them. If you've got the opportunity to catch this film while Cinemalaya is still there, you should. I think they're planning to have this released internationally, and by the looks of it... they're certainly qualified. Those wide indoor and outdoor shots, photography alone, is crazy good.

Congratulations to the men and women who made this film, you should definitely have this be exhibited in festivals elsewhere!
