Ready Your Hearts for Himig Handog 2019

What’s up this year? Pretty good stuff. Some returnees, some new ones and among 4,000 entries, they’ve trimmed it down to 12 finalists.

I am excited about Daniel Padilla, he’s going to be collaborating in an entry with Moira in Dan Martel Tanedo’s “Mabagal”. Janella Salvador will do “Nung Tayo Pa” which was written by Rex Torremoro and Elmar Bolaño. Alekzandra Quitalig will do her own work “Alaala” while Eamarie Gilayo will do “Ikaw at Linggo”. Vanya Castor will interpret “Paano Ba” composed by Richanne Jacinto. “Isa Pang Ikaw” composed by Joseph Ponce will be sung by Justin Vasquez. Tj Monterde will be singing “Panandalian” composed by Jerome Arcangel and Cee Jay Del Rosario. Alex Gonzaga will be singing “Please Lang” composed by Michael Aplacador. Joan Da will sing “Sasabihin Ko” composed by LJ Manzano , Davey Langit will do “Simula ng Dulo” which he co wrote with composer Therese Villarante. Ferdinand Aragon’s “Ingat” will be interpreted by I Belong To The Zoo, Janine Berdin will sing “Sayong Mundo” composed by Noah Zuniga.

Hearing the stories behind the songs was just so awesome especially since most of them did this after real life occurrences, plus their very own relationships, as some of them are real life boyfriends/girlfriends.

Andrea Walter Shines at 2019 SOHO International Film Festival

Filipino Americans or Asian Americans in general have this bout of longing, innate part of their lives to feel that they belong somewhere. It happens now, in the US, Europe, even in Commonwealth lead states where mixed race individuals just become enthralled in loneliness, sad, but was mirrored in the film Empty by Design which recently received accolades in the 2019 SOHO International Film Festival, and praise at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival which Fil-Brit Director Andrea Walter dubs as a story not told enough. 

Cignal Entertainment produced this piece, giving total artistic liberty to the director and mostly Asian crew and production. Jane Basas the CEO of Cignal Entertainment says “We felt joy it got recognition and awards it deserved and I hope this gets to more people, to touch the lives of Pinoys abroad. We want them to see themselves in Andrea’s story. So they could feel home, even as it’s daunting, is where the heart is.” 

Andrea adds “We never expected to win, but heard about it when we got off the plane. After closing LA APFF, it was already a win for me. Things went wild after that. I knew we did something right! New York, LA and Austin appreciated it well. Nobody talks about this, but the story had to be told. It has to be understood.”

Star Magic Launches Star Magic Circle 2019 on their 27th Year!

It looks like you’ll love the new batch of Star Magic Circle 2019. Familiar commercial faces, models, showbiz royalties and new faces made the list, and we met them all yesterday!

Gillian Vicencio who already did Eerie and an iWant series called Karga, Belle Mariano who already graduated from Goin Bulilit and did episodes from Ipaglaban Mo and Maalaala Mo Kaya, Glen Vargas who was a part of a boyband, commercials and several teen films, Kendru Garcia who grew up in Saipan and is a part of Star Magic workshops, Arielle Roces who is also a commercial model and did stints like Esperanza, promising Eisel Serrano (who looks so good btw with her really nice brows people liken her to Janine Gutierrez) who wishes to be the ultimate contrabida (check out her interview below), RA Lewis who’s so tall at 6’3 (immediately scouted for Star Magic while lining up for PBB), Javi Benitez a 6 foot host and sports enthusiast, Aiyana Waggoner a model who already did Bench Fashion Week (I could have shot her somewhere), Arabella Del Rosario who is a triple threat, Anthony Jennings a Brit 6 foot actor who already did Touchscreen with Pokwang, JC Alcantara who was part of the much talked about show Halik, Sophie Reyes the grand daughter of legendary Paraluman, Melizza Jimenez who was part of Kathniel’s movie Barcelona, Jeremiah Lisbo a commercial model for a food giant, and Kyle Echarri who is currently doing Kadenang Ginto as part of the Gold Squad.

They will all be performing on Sunday May 26 at ASAP Natin To and on June 2 at the Tatak Star Magic Event in Ayala Fairview Terraces. You don’t want to miss this! Oh but wait, who do you love among these 16 good looking guys and gals?
