PLDT, Smart, TV5 and Solar Forges Partnership with Miss Universe

Thursday, January 12, 2017

It's still hot, as the Miss Universe fever continues with PLDT, Smart Communications, TV5 and Solar Channel forged their partnership in the coverage of Miss Universe in the Philippines. As you know, there will be several events in different places all over the country and connections will all be powered by PLDT and Smart plus live and delayed broadcasts will happen on TV5 and Solar Channel.

PLDT Chairman Manny V. Pangilinan says "With the Miss Universe crown currently in our homeland, the enthusiasm for and connection of Filipinos to the global pageant is now stronger than ever! I hope they see the Philippines and experience the unique Filipino hospitality."

PLDT and Smart Chief Revenue Officer Eric Alberto adds "We are lining up 15 activities and perhaps have our social media and digital platforms to get our subscribers includes too. Yes we will also include tickets to the pageant itself. There will be chances for customers and clients especially the two pre pageant events."

Shawn McClain, the Vice President for Business Development and Marketing for the Miss Universe Organization adds in a funny tone "We were really just wanted to see the best lechon, the diversity of the Philippines, from Vigan, Boracay, how the 7,100 during lowtied and how we have local support."

Solar Network head Wilson Tieng mentions "Saturday will be Boracay, some candidates will be there about 15. Solar will also do some shoots for material of broadcast. Pretty hectic schedule. It will either be online or broadcast, live and delayed broadcast for us."

Some press member asked about Maxene's chances for a back to back win and he gamely says "It's not gonna matter what happened last year, she will be rated according to her merits. A back to back win is possible, Maxine is a great lady. Questions won't be generic, I've been intrigued about it being more than beauty and perhaps how they really feel, about their character and if I were to ask them questions, it would probably be that way."

PLDT and Smart knows social media will play a vital role in the Philippines hosting of the event and they'll make sure their too notch products and services will be at the forefront of this year's coverage. It will be a more engaging experience for everyone and they're ready!

The 65th Miss Universe Competition Kickoff Event

Saturday, December 10, 2016

Posh, simple but elegant. That's what I would describe the 65th Miss Universe Grand Kickoff Event held at the S Mason Mall at the MOA Complex in Pasay City.

This event was hosted by the LCS Group (of Luis Chavit Singson) and Solar Entertainment Corporation (of Wilson Tieng) and featured 11 candidates who were flown in just to spend 5 days of fun in the Philippines and witness this event where Miss Universe Organization President Paula Mary Shugart will also start off festivities. As you know, the Philippines is known for fiestas and the longest Christmas celebration so these candidates will have a taste of that and MORE!

As of now we saw Miss USA Deshauna Barber, Miss China Li Zhenying, Miss Japan Sari Nakazawa, Miss Australia Caris Emily Tiivel, Miss New Zealand Tania Pauline Dawson (who I think is half Filipino), Miss Korea Jenny Kim, Miss Thailand Chalita Suansane, Miss Malaysia Kiran Jassal, Miss Vietnam Dang Thi Le Hang, Miss Indonesia Kezia Roslin Warouw and Miss Myanmar Htet Htet Htun. They will tour the Philippines  with Maxine Medina and you'll see their adventures during the pageant soon. A ceremonial walk was also done by reigning Miss Universe Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.

Watch out for the actual pageant slated on January 30 8am Philippine Time. Again this is hosted by the LCS Group, Okada Manila, SM Lifestyle Entertainment, Philippine Airlines, Pay it Forward and the Department of Tourism. The ceremonies was hosted by former Miss Universe 3rd Runner Up Shamcey Supsup and good looking Kapuso Actor Benjamin Alves! So who's your pick?
