Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza for "Imagine You and Me" Blogcon

Tuesday, July 12, 2016

This is the most awaited movie of the year and just like me, and the millions of fans of social media phenomenon AlDub (which they are fondly called) are excited about seeing "Imagine You and Me" a film made for national bae Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza. The two have been inseparable since their accidental chemistry happened a few eons ago in the longest noontime show in the country Eat Bulaga.

Now I've already had the privilege to talk to Alden a couple of times and I know he's been so down to earth still, but I haven't had the chance to actually interview Maine so my plan was to ask her a lot of questions in this blog conference. Unfortunately we were allowed like 2 questions, but I was so happy how she answered it liberally and quite long. She actually had mentioned (while she was answering one question from another blogger) that she thinks she's a "pessimistic" person. I was really surprised (actually shocked) she said that out of the blue but when she explained and said that she was always like that and Direk also mentioned how Maine was so hard on herself during scenes in IYAM because once they did it on screen and she sees some little things she doesn't like.

She goes ahead and says it to Direk and everybody on set so they can shoot it again. I think in some way it made her part of the creative process, not that she's a perfectionist. I actually think Maine wants this movie to be good because they are dedicating this to the millions of fans that have been there to support them and they don't want to short change YOU and ME. :)

In that short exchange, and the little introduction I had with Maine made me feel how much she's telling people that she's real. She knows how much love she's getting but ultimately she wants people to know she's the same person as when she started. I don't know about you but when I see them together, I don't think Alden and Maine is doing this for kicks. I do feel this is something REAL, something that people may think is just for screen but for me, I feel they're really together. It's the actions, the small things that they do when they're with each other. You can't question that.

Anyway, there's another reason for you guys and gals to be happy because Imagine You and Me will finally be seen on theaters tomorrow. To celebrate that, let me share with you some photos from the #IYAMBlogcon which happened a few days ago. I've also included videos of the interview on the bottom of this post. Please make your friends know it's showing on July 13, 2016 and also on the last week of July for other countries. Enjoy!

Betong and Arny Ross for Bubble Gang's 20th Anniversary: PaGMAmahalan Blogcon

Thursday, November 19, 2015

During the PaGMAmahalan Blogcon we sat down with Arny Ross and Betong of GMA's long running comedy gag show, the multi awarded Bubble Gang. I've been an avid viewer myself and this time, they're actually celebrating their 20th year. Now, I feel a little old when I heard that announcement but of course it's a feat for a show to actually last that long. They've done so many changes in the past few years and if you think about it, they also have gotten the cast mixed up as some have left for greener pastures, some have also left for other channels. Although, one thing remains the same, they're still a great part of the success of Bubble Gang. From likes of Ogie Alcasid, Toni Gonzaga (oh yes she was there too!), and a lot of other stars, they're going to celebrate on November 27 in a different way because it'll be like a documentary on how Bubble Gang came about. They're also doing head way in making the next year of the program even better. You'll be seeing more characters, more skits, more funny jokes and experiences that you haven't seen before in past shows.

Arny Ross knows men are going to be doubly excited about their dance moves. They're planning to up the ante on choreography and perhaps the naughtiness too. It'll be shown on mostly all the gaps of the show so guys, you really have something to look forward too. I also asked Betong about how Michael V. seems to have been able to hold this ship together and if he feels he's actually in training to do that same job too. He says no but was thankful but he feels it's going to be a little impossible to do the show without him on it. Bitoy as he says is an overall guy, the writing, the direction, the execution, seem to have fallen on Michael V's hands and they don't think they'd be successful without him.

Betong also adds he's so blessed to have the chance to portray Antonietta. He also got to work with the Philippines' most finest contrabidas with the likes of Jacklyn Jose, Gladys Reyes, Cherie Gil, Odette Khan (who was my personal favorite) and Ms. Celia Rodriguez (who Betong pronounces he learned a lot from because she shared a lot of tips being a contrabida). That same character also has been able to take Betong to a lot of places, even in the US too where she performed alongside other GMA artists. He's promising an even better Bubble Gang in the coming years and hopes you'll also love some new characters he'll be doing which are all in the pipeline.

Here's an excerpt of our interview with Arny and Betong

Thanks for the experience GMA Social Media! It was nice seeing these guys in the flesh and get to talk with them during the event. I can't wait to see what'll happen on the 27th as Bubble Gang celebrates their 20th year!

PaGMAmahalan Blogcon: Kylie Padilla and Julian Trono for Buena Famila

Seeing Kylie Padilla and Julian Trono is but a good thing. Kylie for the most is one of the most straighforward actresses I know when it comes to answering questions. She doesn't mind intrigues, showing a spade a spade especially when it comes to talking about her being an actress and what she has accomplished so far. I've long adored her beauty, and I feel her work has been sometimes left unnoticed. She's a pretty good actor and she's already proven that in several movies and programs on GMA. She's also been nominated in awards shows recently; and continues to do her utmost best to anything that's thrown to her. She was also asked if she had some frustrations, she answered bluntly and said it's to actually be as great or even better than her father. It's a tall order of course, but she is optimistic that nothing is impossible with hard work as she's been always doing that all these years. Since Buena Familia is extended, she's hoping that everything in the story would turn out happy.

Julian Trono is hands down one of the best dancers this country. His KPOP training is evidently seen in each performance whether he's in a mall show, just outside or even the PaGMAmahal Blogcon where we interviewed them that afternoon. I specifically like his upbeat songs (oh yes you can still get his album), his knack for music (you can't dance without hearing the beat), his eye and hand coordination (hence it looks effortless when he does his thing) and he is super humble (I have never even seen him do otheriwse). He plans to resume training pretty soon, but since he's extremely busy with commitments locally he might be still holding that off - otherwise he won't have any sleep. In Buena Familia, he laments he's always on "beast mode" as he's always protecting everyone in the family; and his only hope is that his character would in some way have a love interest... which also puzzled us because everyone else had one. I'm sure there will be more room for that to happen because the additional weeks that they were extended to just got extended again with two more weeks. Like Kylie, he too would want something good to happen since they've suffered much in the story.

Here's part of the conversation we had with Kylie and Julian:

Buena Familia starts right after top rating show Half Sisters in GMA's Afternoon Prime timeslot. Make sure you stay glued to the TV and see what nice things they have in store for you. I'm sure it'll be good!
