Canon Marketing Philippines Launches SIKAP

Monday, February 20, 2017

I spent the afternoon at the Department of Education NCR office to witness the forging of partnerships between DepEd, Marylindbert International and Canon Philippines. The goal is to provide students, teachers and parents some perspective on how to take care of important and pertinent documents relevant to their lives, including physical and digital archiving and let then have access to high quality printing and scanning devices which only Canon has.

Marylindbert International's CEO Madame Linda Legaspi says "This marks another milestone in our partnership with DepED as we forge ahead and move forward with our advocacies. We have a lot of challenges, but we do have happy endings. This 35 year relationship has made it even solid, as Canon Marketing Philippines and we converge to preserve our true Pinoy identity. Our students need to know their past, their heritage, and preserving documents do we know who we are. SIKAP (School Immersion and Key Advancement Program) is an advocacy of Canon Philippines for the importance of effective archiving and history. For continuing to believe and inspiring us to continue, thank you!"

Canon Marketing Philippines' Christine Dacanay says "Canon Marketing Philippines is very glad to meet with school representatives so we could introduce to you SIKAP. We want to introduce archiving, ID's, Birth Certificates, in keeping memories alive and safe, we come better prepared in future generations. We need to teach children the value of keeping memories, in our 20th year, our dream to reach schools nationwide starting with 20 right now. Hopefully we could do this soon!"

Dr. Ponciano Mengito, the Regional Director of the Department of Education-NCR says "I personally have had the experience of seeing images from 50 years ago, pictures of yesteryears. This will be implemented with in pilot schools, and eventually nationwide. We are saving these documents in digital form and even bringing in innovation and let them know the importance of archiving and history. It's more than being emotional, we can't go back to the past but preserving these documents are part of our identity. It's how we can explain later on who we are. We at NCR want to promote accessibility and quality for afforded education. Thank you to CANON Marketing for your CSR work. This will benefit a lot of people now, and in the future."

Congratulations Canon Marketing Philippines! This is so good in so many ways!

The Charm of a Red Wine CANON Pixma MG3570

Saturday, October 19, 2013

Hey guys! It's a great day today so I'm making it even greater by letting you in on the latest CANON printers that are available in the Philippines. This is the CANON Pixma MG3570.

It's one of the best multifunction printers they have in the 3500 line. The generic driver for the series works for this model and you can either download it off their website or just use the one that came with the CD. The file is also small so you won't have any problems using the one from the site.

At first glance, I couldn't believe CANON would gamble and use a different color this time. Though common for their brand, people would usually shy away from the color RED WINE as it would pose more on the feminine side. Though it is the "uniqueness" of its color which probably would sell it off. I was so happy that they deviated away from the normal black or white palette (which by the way they have too in this model) and pretty soon, designers would have fun mixing and matching this device with existing office furniture making it one of the best looking printers in the market.

There's a warning label on the box that specifically indicates that this printer should always be used by genuine CANON Inks since it will void the warranty of your device if it gets damaged by third party ones.

The box also contains the instructions on how to install. It's available in different languages. Plus, there's also papers to register your device so you can avail of Canon's expert professional services. It's bundled with every Pixma printer purchase. That's a neat deal since it would usually cost you a lot to get this from other tech providers. It's also got the usual data and power cable which is separated on a small box inside the pack.

This unit requires #740 Black and #741 Canon Cartridges. This one comes with the printer when you purchase it but I've seen in their catalog that there are ones in XL sizes. That's an awesome deal for those who are planning to print out huge photos.

I can't stop drooling because I LOVE THIS PRINTER! It doesn't have FAX capabilities which is kind of passe to put on things like these days. Documents should be sent through email right? Signed, scanned and emailed back. That's how we should do it. It probably had an effect also on the price because it retails at PhP 4,695.00 only. You can probably have better deals in CANON stores, all you got to do is ask and I'm sure their people can cut out a few percent off the shelf price.

Now there are pro's and cons on the buttons displayed on the Canon Pixma MG3570, without the display you wouldn't be able to manually connect to the wireless LAN without using a PC on a secured network. When I installed this printer on my laptop, it only took a few minutes. Then it prompted me to connect to the network via its own network software. It kinda copied the settings of my Wireless Zero Configuration and just asked to click the network name. The settings and all were embedded already, so that made things easy. Aside from that, it's got the A4 and 4x6 photo paper buttons so if you plan to print via Apple Airprint technology, just a few seconds and poof! You got your photos printed. I even got to do my A4 sized shots done afterwards. No hassle whatsoever!

The paper tray can extend up to the length shown above. You can pull out the part where it's got that slot on top. The catch tray also use this arm and flap for your long ones making your life easy.

Aside from the fact that it's the prettiest piece of printing technology that I have ever seen, it also boasts a huge flatbed scanner which can fit most of your office documents that don't usually work with other brands in the market. The price range is competitive and you can only expect the best from CANON.

Here's a video review I made for the CANON PIXMA MG3570. Watch this as I print some of the photos that my friend sent me. This was part of his wedding album and he chose a few that he wanted to blow up in A4 sized papers.

If that wasn't enough to convince you to get this CANON MG3570, I don't know what will!

Just look at what I got printed out! =) Isn't this neat? Absolutely great prints from a charming printer!

The Affordable and Efficient CANON Pixma E610

Saturday, July 27, 2013

It's one of the most ink efficient printers that I've ever seen in the few years that I've been in the IT industry. This would be a perfect thing to have in small office/home office and with it's features, you already have saved a ton since it's a multifunction printer.

It's a Network Printer, Scanner, Fax Machine and Copier all in one. I actually got stumped because when I took out the cartridges to replace it with the new ones, the supposedly empty ones still had some ink on them. This pretty much made me think, did the previous reviewer use it for his photos? Then why did it still have ink on them? The box says it all, this one's Ink Efficient!

I was getting very good quality prints the last time I did it on the MX527 even on fast settings; but this time, I thought about it and see what will happen if I'll take my time and see a more detailed one when printing. Although I've been doing A4's previously, I tried the small ones too. On theory it'll take about 50 seconds. But with the time I measured, it pretty much took less than that. Impressive.

Now watch how I do it while printing out my first photo off the Canon Pixma E610. This is on A4 size so it'll take a couple of minutes.

What's also neat is that this particular print out is part of system called ChromaLife100. If you hate things that would only last you a couple of decades, this one is better. It won't fade, change color or do  anything weird in a hundred years. Theoretical of course, and under perfect conditions.

You can also install the "My Image Garden" software that comes with the printer if you want something fun. You can use it to create collages, frames, your own calendar or even spruce up old photos in one tool. It's simple and you can learn about it in a few minutes, so you don't really have to put so much fuzz about it.

Design wise, I think they wanted a sleek black exterior. This one doesn't have anything hanging out unless you put out the paper tray. Folding it in would just make it fully fit and clean. Black is sexy, more like a car.

And as you've seen on the video, it was easy to change cartridges. My only blunder was the part where I thought the cartridge was supposed to be upright. I should have just slid it in.

The Fax machine in this multifunction printer is quite intelligent too. It'll ask you to input the number twice so you won't be making errors sending the document to the wrong recipient.

Unlike the CANON MX527, the CANON Pixma E610 doesn't have wireless capability but this 458 x 385 x 200mm box can still be your network printer via hi speed USB. You might consider a print server for this that supports bi directional printing. The E610 can print out on A4, LTR, 4 x 6", 5 x 7"and 8 x 10". I did the A4 and it was dreamy, very detailed on its output.

Scanning on this piece of hardware is pretty good. It served me well because it's smart like the other model. It gets all the details on a single run. Amazing!

Just look at the celebrities that I shot and printed out in a very detailed way. Even the not so sharp ones still felt very nice. I showed it to my folks and they even want their photos taken by me now. Thanks for all the memories, the celebrities and artists that have graced my camera. It was made extra special by immortalizing them on photo paper, printed out in one of the best photo printers in the world. This is CANON Pixma E610. It retails for around Php 5995.00 on stores in the Philippines.
