Viva Films Outs Jacqueline Comes Home

Friday, July 13, 2018

A usual Filipino family who hailed from Cebu, living a normal life - and suffers a shocking crime, one that would cause loss of lives. This is the Chiong Family story, based on real life events that happened in 1997, who's daughters got murdered as told by the victim's mother, Madame Thelma Chiong. This movie is called Jacqueline Comes Home.

Donnalyn says "This has been made with the storyline of the interview with the victims mother so you are going to see and hear the Mother's side of the story. I  am not going to be showing skin, because these are normal teens we are talking about. They are also born of very conservative families. Happy to note there are no accidents, even if I didn't want any limitations as long as it's shown nicely on screen. Ryan Eigenmann was also very careful because it's my first time, re enacting it was so traumatic so imagine what it would have been for the real victim. People really have to be careful and have chaperone all the time. Your parents should still know where you are going, tell them our whereabouts so they don't have to worry. This film should have been shown later this year, but I didn't know they would show it the same month as my other film with Ella Cruz. I am glad I got to work with Meg, she's a very nice person. If this would happen now, I wouldn't want death for them, perhaps just suffer years in prison as they need to also be liable for their actions."

Meg adds "I am a little cultured in rape scenes so it was quite easy for me, the only difference perhaps is making it still viewable by an R-13 audience. Direk made sure to take care of the scenes. I even ask them to make it more intense so I could also feel the pain, I said that a few times to the rapists because they were very careful with us. This is a nice thing for teens to watch so they would be careful about meeting people in social media. If this happens now, I would love to see this be on trial, in a fair setting, a good justice system."

Jacqueline will be portrayed by Meg Imperial and Donnalyn Bartolome will play Marijoy, whilst Joel Torre (Dionisio) and Alma Moreno (Thelma) will be their parents in this film directed by Ysabelle Peach Caparas, daughter of famed director Carlo J. Caparas who also assisted her in this film. According to the mother, these teens have been abducted, tortured, raped and killed. They will also show how they strived for justice all these years, in the hopes of finding the culprit, the murderers of daughters.

This movie will be seen on July 18, 2018 in cinemas nationwide. This is produced by Viva Films.

Mark Neumann, LT, Christopher De Leon for "Kamandag Ng Droga"

Saturday, December 16, 2017

Got invited to the premier of the "Kamandag ng Droga" film of Carlo J. Caparas last week and saw stars Christopher De Leon, Mark Neumann, Ms. Perla Bautista, AJ Muhlach, CJ Caparas, Sarah Lahbati Gutierrez and their co-stars. Ms. Lorna I think was out spending time with family so she wasn't there at the premier. The film is an advocacy movie, about drugs and family relationships. Although it was tackling a pretty serious subject, it felt more like what we're seeing right now in the news, so it touched in reality and how the current administration is dealing with it.

You will see the President's speech inserted in a few scenes while they are discussing the subject so it felt like a broadcast from TV or a long talk in congress. If you are a fan of the President then you'll really love this film but if you're not, then you probably should skip it. If you are looking for acting prowess, this may have hits and misses but overall it's just okay. You also should watch this for the merits of the stars, more so if you miss them because you haven't seen them in quite a while. As usual, Christopher and Ms. Lorna delivers, but felt it could have been better if they had a different premise, a different issue or talk, because I got a bit tired of the lengthy talk they did about the menace of drugs. It comprised about 80% of it, and the rest delved into family relationships, with friends, peer pressure, death and a lot of partying.

Please don't take me wrong, it was okay all in all but it was just not my cup of tea. Was it worth to watch it? If you are a fan of the president and his campaign then YES, if not then watch it because of the lovely stars in it. It was made for an intended audience, like a niche project. Take this review with a grain of salt, this is just me and perhaps not the entire audience that evening. Some clapped after the end scenes and had a pretty good time seeing the film. If you want to see it for the cause they want to also push, then this is for you. It's still out on theaters nationwide! Watch it before MMFF starts.

Shy Carlos and Mark Neumann for Tasya Fantasya on TV5

Thursday, January 14, 2016

Singing a new tune with a lovely playful disposition is Shy Carlos. She's the newest star now in a lead role as Tasya Fantasya based on the work of Direk Carlo J. Caparas which was originally played by Kris Aquino and also Yasmien Kurdi on GMA. Now that the story is on the TV5's stable, it's going to be a bit more funnier because when we saw her doing the character on stage, she was really into it. Add to that AJ Mulach and Mark Neumann who's going to be her leading men in the show, this will also have a romantic spin between her fantacized man and the best friend who wanted to be her boyfriend.

Mark says "At first it's physical, but later on it's the personality that is important for me. Well if they want us to, we can try to be TV5's premier love team. She's nice and easy to talk to, really approachable which I really like about her. I am so thankful that even if I didn't win Artista Academy, the work I do everyday, I always am thankful for it that I do pour in my passion in everything that I do."

"Since it's my first time to work with him, we're going to work on our chemistry because we need that in work. I want to be happy and contented before I go into a relationship. If I'm not gonna be loved, I'm not gonna get hurt because it's not the thing that would complete me. People would think he's not that approachable but he makes everything light. I'm also proud of Nadine and seeing her acheive so many things I'm so happy for her. We started in commercials and we dreamed of this since the beginning, I'm just so happy for her. I choose schedules in school that would not be conflicting with work so I have time for that. I'm taking AB Consular Affairs in Benilde and I hope I can finish soon."

The show also stars Donnalyn Bartolome, Kim Molina, Malak So, AJ Mulach, Ara Mina, Candy Pangilinan, Giselle Sanchez, John Lapus and Jasmine Hollingworth. Also present in the presscon were Boss Vic Del Rosario, Veronique Del Rosario and Viva Executives.

It's going to start on February 6, 2016 8PM and will be done every Saturday after that. This is produced by Viva too.
