Rémy Martin Presents 1738 Accord Royal at Whiskey Live Manila

Tuesday, November 22, 2022

Missed this event but nothings gonna stop me from telling you good news about the Whiskey Live Manila event a few weeks ago.

Rémy Martin actually launched their 1738 Accord Royal. It's a really unique cognac heavily rooted in histroy as it has been granted Accord Royal status by King Louis XV in 1738. I must say, I got a taste of in mixes at Honeycomb where they also launched an event, quite surprised how smooth it is, not pungent, just the right amount of fruitiness, oak, spicy and toasted with a bold flavor. It's definitely something that can be done in different ways, and be paired with savory food without spoiling it.
Cointreau Philippines Ed Guzman dubs this as something for the younger market. Whiskey Live Manila has been off for a number of years because of the pandemic, this certainly made it all worth the trip to BGC. Mad props to Rémy Cointreau Philippines Country Brand Lead Myke Soon who hooked us up at the Honeycomb event. That was certainly fun!

If you want to know more about the new Rémy Martin 1738 Accord Royal, you may visit remymartin.com or their social channels RemyMartinPhilippines on FB, IG. You can order them now at boozy.ph or singlemalt.ph if you want to try them out!

Real Fruit Juice Made Fun: LOCALLY

Monday, December 04, 2017

It was raining like cats and dogs but it didn't dampen our spirit to go to the launch of the LOCALLY Fruit Truck, their answer to the global food truck phenomenon this side of the world. If you haven't experienced the taste of LOCALLY yet just drop by any 7-Eleven convenience stores, leading supermarkets and groceries to get that lovely Filipino flavor everyone is going gaga for.

As part of BGC's Passion Fest, they set up shop right at the middle of Bonifacio High Street grounds and whipped out canisters and bottles of these sweet tangy indigenous juices. Not only that, they also had it mixed with cocktails so the larger adult crowd could appreciate it more than that. They will be roaming around the streets of Manila, major cities and nearby provinces so everyone would be able to get a taste of it. They also served several Filipino street food delicacies so you could pair it up with your chosen drink. Aside from the numerous events and festivals, they will also be joining several FOOD PARK locations around the country so they could also take a load of these treats, just like we did that evening.

I believe I ate about half a kilo worth of fish balls and kikiam becasue darn nabbit I miss eating these since I can't remember when. It was the perfect thing to pair with the drinks, specifically my favorite one the Tamarind My Bell (Tamarind). They also have Pomelong and Lasting Love (Pomelo), Save the Best for SinegueLast (Siniguelas), Calamansi'z the Day (Calamansi/Philippine Lemon), Guyabanobody But You (Soursop), You've Dalandanit Again (Dalandan) and Mangosteenie Miny Moe (Mangosteen).

These are manufactured by NutriAsia, same people who also release products like UFC, Golden Fiesta and many more. If you wan to know more about their other events or where the next Locally Fruit Truck will stay, like their Facebook page and social media channels so you could follow their schedules. Trust me, each juice product they have is totally good. They gave me a whole box and I drank it all in one sitting, no joke!

Don't miss the Locally Fruit Truck if it lands in a place near you, because some of it's being given away for free (or to taste) and I'm not even joking.

An Afternoon of Solaire Mixology

Wednesday, June 18, 2014

We had the chance to roam around inside Solaire a couple of days ago to try out some of the drinks they have in their restaurants. The activity included some pretty good exercises on how to make them and I got to mix drinks right off the bat. Yes, we were a little overwhelmed but I think we did get the hang of it.

We poured Bourbon, Chambord, Cherry Herring and Cranberry Martini into the shaker with ice. Then poured the whole thing in a martini glass and put the mango-pomegranate foam on top. This is a sweet cocktail called Duchess. It would be a pretty good starter if you're with friends and starting the night young.

This one is a Margarita with Agave Caviar Pearls. It's made with a mix of Reposado Tequila, Cointreau, Lime Juice and Demerara Sugar. I usually have this frozen but their version is a bit fancy since they put in those floating thingies on top. I love the contrast and how it tasted. It's a bit unusual because the pandan like taste was present so you can't really imagine that with ordinary margaritas. It is really special.

This one's called Smoked Russian. It's got Vodka that is infused with smoke from hickory chips, tobacco infused Kahlua, giving it a darker profile. Stir the cocktail with a cinnamon stick and you've got it made. I love dark ones because it's more masculine, I'm not a fan of the sweet ones.
