Awesome Citizen Services and Fast Five Movie Night

Saturday, May 07, 2011

When you need something from NSO, DFA or POEA in the past you have to brave the throng of people lining up these public offices and suffer under the sweltering heat of them before you can get the document you need. I've been witness to several horror stories because obviously they can't handle the number of people going there and if you talk about the number of people they employ the cost outweighs what they were able to do. Today there's a remarkable improvement on their system because everything can be done online. Have you been to http://www.citizenservices.com.ph ? It's where you can get these same documents or schedule your appointments without going through those long lines you used to go to in the past years. There has been a lot of improvements as far as logistics go but if you compare it to what was happening before IT'S A WHOLE LOT BETTER!

National Statistics Office

For your certified true copies of birth certificates, marriage certificates, death certificates, and certificates of no marriage (CENOMAR) you don't have to go to your local registrar or the NSO office anymore. Just pick up the phone and call them and you'll get your certificates delivered to your doorstep in just 3-4 days. There are various payment options available like credit card, bancnet or local bank facilities. Pay them and when confirmed you just have to wait at home or the office; and you'll get it sooner than you think.

Philippine Overseas Employment Administration

For Overseas Filipino Workers that need the Overseas Exit Clearance (OEC) which you have to secure through POEA this is great news! You can still continue to enjoy your needed vacation rather than do the whole brouhaha at POEA. Just go to the site and apply for one. Fill up the forms and get it delivered right through your doorstep. Fill up the OFW Information Sheet online and place in a signed brown envelope. Drop at any Aboitiz offices and pay the necessary fees then you'll get it after processing. It's way easier right?

Department of Foreign Affairs

The dreadful lines and waiting time just for a passport and a simple digital photo would remind you that you are in the Philippines. Honestly I don't like doing that and you have to spend the whole day just for it. Today, there's an appointment scheduling facility on the site where you can simply fill up information sheets and indicate what time or day you can go. If there are slots available for the specific date you indicated, just go and line up with your forms, get your photo and biometrics captured then pay for the postage fees and wait in the comfort of your home for your passports. You do not need to go back to DFA just for that!

For all these things you can simply call these numbers!

Or simply go to http://www.citizenservices.com.ph/ for other support channels. They even have friendly agents through CHAT to assist you! There's no excuse to make life easy!

I attended the Fast Five Movie Night Event that the good people from Pilipinas Teleserv Inc. hosted. They are the people behind the http://www.citizenservices.com.ph/ website. Yes, my idol Vin Diesel is back in another great installment of Fast and the Furious called Fast Five. It was the best movie ever! I didn't know it was THIS GOOD! I was in a few words I was so OVERWHELMED! I want to watch that movie again and pay for it a couple of times because it is indeed action packed and the people added up to the cast was by far the greatest thing that you could ever see. I have seen the previous one but they have outdone themselves! It was also a great time to bond with other bloggers. I even won a DVD Player! Hell for what it's worth I never won anything in raffles like these so this is one great thing to break that curse LOL!

Check out these photos from last night!

Bloggers!

I want to take this bit to thank each and everyone who made this movie night possible! Thank you I had so much fun!

It's EQUILUX today. The day where we almost have perfect 12 hours of day and 12 hours night. This only happens twice a year. Do we really have to say that?! LOL

Makati still has that building leaking with gas. That's the west tower building. It's been like that since July. They probably are going to wait until someone dies or if the building explodes. That would be a nice way to start the New Year celebration! Yay!

I lost my passport. Mom found it. Thank God for Moms! I won't be able to go out of the country if that happens. It's also painful to get an appointment with DFA nowadays. It would take you two to three months just to get one. The same to renew and if you lost your passport. Couldn't they just do it in a few days?! These people should have one day processing procedures, this is just crazy! I still hate you DFA!

There are still thousands of buses in EDSA that are considered colorum. If you saw the 3 which made me late for work last night please burn them down. Good thing I needed to stay late at the office so I could submit some papers.

Antonio Margarito is training hard to beat Manny Pacquiao. He's definitely taller and bigger in built but Pacquiao already did beat a lot of superstars with the same predicament. I wonder if Manny loses, this virtually unknown fighter would get a lot of money for sure!

Philippine Economy is picking up. We're having record highs in the stockmarket. If I could just sell my stocks on a high price then it would be great. Hope my broker won't be sleeping by that time. He sold my old stocks before then the day after it rose a couple of pesos, that was one bad deal and I hope he won't repeat that deed anytime soon!

I don't have any hitches now with the trip I'm planning. Although it would cost me a lot I think it's okay since my folks can enjoy something like this. Now where do I get the shopping money now... heheh donations anyone?! (^_^)v

NIGHTMARE @ DFA Philippines (Department of Foreign Affairs)

Friday, September 19, 2008

I Ladies and Gentlemen am a very PATIENT person... yes very very patient indeed... Just this wednesday, I went on to the Department of Foreign Affairs to claim my authenticated Transcript/Diploma. I'll tell you the story...

It was a tiring day at work, I made reports (a bunch of numbers...went crosseyed afterwards), and a short presentation (about a few slides...well okay maybe more) and made corrections on them at work... when I logged out, twas about 7 in the morning already...Sunshine Cruz was staring and glaring at me while walking.. It was hot... I knew I was but it was reaaaaly hot... So I mustered up my urges...and decided to fix my papers at DFA instead of going to the gym... boy! was I in for a surprise!

I was sleep deprived, rode the MRT and a short jeepney ride to the government office...when I went in, it was the wrong place to go to... kind lady guards warded us off to Roxas Boulevard and asked to go to the CHED office located there... it was a short walk... I said to myself "Hey! this is easy!" and so I thought...

So counting the hours, I was about 15 hours awake... at about 10:30am I went inside DFA in Manila and proceeded to read the instructions how to get my Authenticated Transcript and there in the wall it says:

Step1: Ilagay ang CLAIM STUB sa kahon sa table1 at hintaying matawag. (put the claim stub on the box located at table 1 and wait to be called)
Step2: Matapos mahanap ng releasing officer ang inyong dokumento, bayaran ang kaukulang authentication fee (100/doc) sa cashier. (After the releasing officer finds your document, pay the corresponding authentication fee (100/doc) at the cashier).
Step3: Ibalik ang original receipt (pink copy) sa kahon sa table 4 at hintaying matawag muli para sa release ng inyong authenticated documents. (Return the original receipt (pink copy) on the boxprovided at table 4 and wait to be called once authenticated documents have been released)

Oh... I said to myself, I thought since I was already holding a claim stub I'd be just giving that and getting my papers...but nooooo! So I said to myself, that was just 3 steps right? well that should be easy since I saw they were all sitting and waiting there...I thought everything was normal...

I went ahead and got on table 1 and put my claim stub on the box at around the same time...about tennish... and eagerly awaited this fast service... coz it was really just a single piece of paper I was waiting for... but oh my oh my oh my... I waited with these people:

1st hour

2nd hour

3rd hour

Now for a single piece of paper... I WAITED THE 3 LONGEST HOURS OF MY ENTIRE LIFE!!!
Not to mention that in this not so well ventilated room, it was like a BAKERY... I mean it smelled PUTOK ( a term coined after a bread that bursts and means Body odor) ... (-_-)" I was in a nightmare... I just imagined class C D and E were all there trying their luck in other countries, and apparently smelling like that too... meaning thousands of people would go to the same ordeal that I went through and the DFA did not realize something is reaaaaly wrong with 3 long hours just for a single receipt... I told the lady who gave me the paper a piece of advice... DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT...

So I paid the amount...and went back to the room and placed my pink slip on table 4.. I said Oh my... my agony is ending! Yehey!

Then after two and a half hours more....

Yes, it took them about 2 and a half hours just to get the authenticated paper given to me... Yes I implied... I was lucky, I was not the man I met at my side cursing everybody at front already.. I said why should I complain when this old man (probably at his 60's) waited far longer than me... from 9am to 4pm in the afternoon... imagine that huh?! Talk about caring for the Senior citizens!

I was young, but when I went out of that shack I was old and tired... I tried to sleep... but I almost forgot yeah, I had work that night too... and so I was awake for about 23 hours straight... and a single power nap was only for comfort in about less than an hour before I login back to work... yes ladies in the house! and men in the house! The DFA is a nightmare as far as Service is concerned... now I award myself with the medal of ULTIMATE PATIENCE... and may the omnipotent have mercy on their souls....

Department of Foreign Affairs, people there and fellow citizens... There is something wrong with your system, and I'm quite sure it ain't me! Fix it and don't waste hundreds and thousands of OFW's who serve this country regret they ever came back again... not with that kind of office... its not world class... its just shameful imho. Get it? Got it? Good! Get someone else to do your jobs for you! You just can't do it right so get somebody else who can! Thanks! *grin*
