DenJen Movie "Everything About My Wife" Touches on 7 Year Itch, Marriage and Deceit

Thursday, February 27, 2025

I've seen the Korean film which this was based from (All About My Wife, 2012), but felt even if this may have been based on that... this Filipino romcom movie carries its own weight. This adaptation Everything About My Wife by Director Real Florido takes on a whole Filipino premise, and talks about that 7 year itch that a lot of married couples go through. Dennis Trillo and Jennylyn Mercado play a couple named Dominic Brizuela and Imogen Karuhatan (Dom and Imo). Also in the film is real life cassanova Sam Milby who did absolutely amazing in this story of love, getting tired of it, relationships, and trust.

For starters, it's not a full on romcom because much of the scenes felt like a drama, something that both Dennis and Jennylyn would know like the back of their hand. It's a slow burn, but the elements are there, something that you would probably enjoy because those fun DenJen moments you see on social media will have a LOT of it in this film. It's their personal touch, which I'm sure you'll all adore when you get to see this in the silver screen.

Also in the film are the fun characters of Carmi Martin and Ms. Nova Villa. There's small pockets of situational comedy which you'll enjoy in Everything About My Wife. You'll get most of it with Dennis Trillo's character, and you'll never see sunflowers the same because of it. Joyang is also fun to see, she's got that spunk even if she's a newbie in PH cinema.

Much of the first half of it will involve them establishing the issues they are encountering, like being tired of the partners, and how they approached it with another problem, like seduction and connivance. It may feel slow, but bear with it. It's going to get better, funnier and more interesting in the second half. I'd give this 8.5/10 cows 🐮ྀི🐮ྀི🐮ྀི🐮ྀི🐮ྀི🐮ྀི🐮ྀི🐮ྀི

This is already showing on theaters, so if you're planning to have a fun day with your family and friends, who are fans of Dennis, Jennylyn and Sam, you should definitely watch this. This is produced by GMA Films and CreaZion Studios.

JENNYLYN MERCADO, DENNIS TRILLO, SAM MILBY for Romantic Comedy EVERYTHING ABOUT MY WIFE

Friday, February 14, 2025

Finally had the chance to talk to the cast of EVERYTHING ABOUT MY WIFE yesterday at their mediacon. For starters, Jennylyn Mercado has been heavily missed, and she's working with her hubby Dennis Trillo in this movie. They're also doing this with Sam Milby, a proper character for the man who looks like a true blue Cassanova, so when they showed this a couple months back, I was so excited for it.

The event was also graced by co-stars Ms. Carmi Martin, Alex Agustin, Polo Laurel, Joyang of TikTok fame, Chico Alicaya and Karlo Aranza.

The plot is simple, Jen and Dennis' characters are married, they get bored and irate over the continuous yapping, felt about to give up, then Sam's character comes along. With a sculptured physique, smooth talk, will they give up their marriage or stay? Imagine the situations left for imagination, the journey must have been filled with hurt, funny clap backs, thirst traps and romantic talk.

Director Real Florido says "There is a need for romcom films. I've been doing indie movies, started it about 10 years ago. I've done 2 Cinemalaya entries, but I feel it's not Indie vs Commercial films anymore. The lines are blurred. You make it now because you are a filmmaker. Romcoms have the same importance as with other genres. We tell stories that inspire and sometimes pull heartstrings. It's one of the reasons we do films like these, because they want to see it and the public demands it. Filipinos are suckers for love, we want that fleeting feeling, we want to laugh and cry with the characters we see on screen. We do that with friends, we talk about our relationships, open up about it, and we relate to them too. It's always a part of conversations, and makes us feel alive."

Dennis told us "It's fun to make films like these because it's relatable, to do characters that are universal. For artists like us, we do these like ourselves, we are husband and wife in real life. Some of the scenes here are things we also do."

Jen added "Like what Dennis said, it's familiar territory. We enjoyed it though, and working with my husband is such a joy. It's feels so good to do scenes, and I'm sure when people see it, they will relate to our characters."

Sam says "It's hard, a challenge for me to do this character. They say I shine when I'm evil, but Miguel is a Cassanova, a womanizer. Direk was there to help me out. I'm a shy introvert, so this one is overly confident, and I try to be out of my comfort zone to do this."

Here's the whole mediacon on video, please sub, and enjoy!

The producer CreaZion Studios was represented by their CEO RJ Agustin. For those who want to see it, the film will be shown on February 26th. The premiere night will be on the 25th at SM Megamall if I'm not mistaken so if you want to see the stars, you should go there! This is produced by CreaZion Studios and GMA Pictures. Jen and Dennis was thought to have produced this too but no, because this came before Green Bones and their production outfit was launched last year.

Go watch it in cinemas! See you there!

Green Bones Tops MMFF 2024 Awardees: Now Shows in Over 180 Cinemas

Friday, January 03, 2025

Green Bones unfurled a few surprise wins in the recent Metro Manila Film Festival 2024 Gabi ng Parangal (Awards Night) which happened last December 27th hosted by the folks from the Metro Manila Development Authority. They won the festival's coveted BEST PICTURE Award amongst 10 entries including the Best Actor award for Dennis Trillo, Best Supporting Actor for Ruru Madrid, Best Child Performer for Sienna Stevens, Best Screenplay for National Artist Ricky Lee and Angeli Atienza, Best Cinematography by Neil Daza and the nod of critics. The night's award ceremony was witnessed by GMA Network's Senior Vice President and GMA Films President Ms. Anette Gozon-Valdes. She describes the win as a great show of their efforts, risks, to ultimately tell the story in hopes of people loving the story, in its wonderful and outstanding depiction.

This is the vision of GMA Picture's Executive Vice President Nessa Valdellon. They wanted to make sure that the movie would become a vessel to showcase the amount of talent their artists have, and no doubt Dennis Trillo, Ruru Madrid gave their all.  Critics likewise saw how production took risks, and lauded how Director Zig Dulay made sure it be at par or even better than last year's successful entry "Firefly" which got rave reviews and top awards  too. Dennis' portrayal of Dom Zamora had complexity, Ruru on the other hand did Xavier Gonzaga - who's a very colorful character, who wouldn't want to fall or have a change of heart with criminals like Dom in the film. MMFF also took notice of Sienna Stevens, got her the Best Child Performer trophy, and nominations for talented actors Royce Cabrera and our guy Mikoy Morales who had their moments in the film. If you haven't watched it yet, just be warned I've seen fully grown men who had a bout of crying in the cinema, a handy work of Ricky Lee and his excellent screenwriting no doubt. Go watch this touching, but now, well decorated film that's been lauded by movie goers during the festival. You'll be surprised how emotional it will get in the end, and see why Green Bones took accolades this year.
