Taiwan Excellence 3 on 3 Hoop Challenge

Monday, August 06, 2018

I’ve had the privilege to catch some of the matches they’ve been doing for the Taiwan Excellence 3 on 3. The executives and the organizers must have already noted how crazy Filipinos are with basketball, and what good way to also showcase their best products in the country by holding their own 3 on 3 basketball matches right at the Mall of Asia Music Hall. The event was also attended by PBA stars which have really drawn a crowd.

This is also a basketball camp headed by one of the winningest coach in the PBA, Eric Altamirano. They will be holding the finals soon as weather hampered it from happening a few weeks ago. 192 people from all over the Philippines attended the two day affair and yes, they’ve had the opportunity to also utilize Taiwan made products for the games.

Alfred Wang Director of Taiwan Economic and Cultural Office says “This is a showcase of excellence for the two countries. All of these products have the Taiwan Excellence Seal. Filipinos passion plus the Taiwanese products just spell empowerment.”

JC Intal and Doug Kramer on the other hand showed support to the participants, all of which had talks, selfies using Taiwan’s very own ASUS phones. I have an ASUS Zenfone 5Q too which I use for personal photos, they’ve been very good only putting out quality over quantity.

I can’t wait to see who’ll win the championships which they plan to do soon!

Coca Cola Philippines Wins US Government's ACE

Tuesday, January 20, 2015

US Ambassador Philip Goldberg (center) together with Director of HR and Corporate Affairs of Coca Cola Femsa Philippines Juan Carlos Rodriguez (left) and Atty. Adel Tamano the VP for Public Affairs and Communications for Coca Cola Philippines accepting the US State Department's Award for Corporate Excellence last December at Sofitel Manila..

Coca Cola Philippines just got the Secretary of State's Award for Corporate Excellence for their efforts in relief and rehabilitation during Typhoon Yolanda. US Ambassador Philip Goldberg gave them the award in ceremonies done in Sofitel Manila and received by VP for Public Affairs and Cimmunications Atty. Adel Tamano.

Coca Cola Philippines was one of the first few companies to respond for calls to help with the crisis as Western and Central Visayas was hit by Typhoon Haiyan and donated around 2.5 Million US dollars from its main office. It was given to various relief, humanitarian efforts and partnerships with the Philippine Red Cross and Habitat for Humanity. They also pooled donations and volunteers during this time so they could address basic needs like water, nutrition and education.

They suspended all advertising for Christmas and realigned programs so they could rechannel the funds for the same purpose. Right now, they are implementing programs like the Agos Ram Water Pump (to help improve water quality and sanitation), the NutriJuice Program (to help 35,000 school children from malnutrition), and Little Red School House (built 300 classrooms to benefit thousands of kids in the province) plus a 5by20 Program so they would be economically empowered women entrepreneurs and provide 1000 sari sari stores in the province of Leyte. They also partnered with USAID for the rehabilitation of ravaged stores in both Leyte and Samar. It helped ensure commerce, the flow of goods in the community which is a crucial part of bringing normalcy in the province. They also provided loans and programs for Negros Women of Tomorrow Foundation, Alternative Indigenous Development Foundation Inc. with the help of the Department of Education, Philippine Business for Social Progress and local government units among others.

Coca Cola Philippines is now one of three companies to win the Secretary of State's 2014 Award for Corporate Excellence. It's given to American companies to recognize leadership and commitment to innovation, responsible practices and positive contributions to local economies. Congratulations to you guys and I hope I get to visit your plant again soon!

Green Alternatives: Taiwan Bicycles in Manila

Wednesday, December 17, 2014

I still remember the time when I first rode this two wheeled vehicle and was able to do so without trainers or help from grown ups when I was 4. After riding it for a few minutes and getting to the end of the street, I realized that I was too happy driving but I haven't even learned how to stop. Oh yes! I fell off the bike and cried because people were chasing me down the street and didn't look back. It's where I learned I could do things by myself, the first taste of independence was addicting but I felt it was all worth it. I did something that none of my playmates would even imagine I could do. Back then, everybody was doing it for fun and I love the fact that it didn't even had to be filled up with gas which grown ups do. In my city, it was so fresh and breezy to go to parks, run around and drive proud with my two wheeled wonder. I wonder if it's the same for the kids now.

The other day, I got a glimpse of what the situation is commuting in public. Although it was fine to be in public vehicles that carry a lot of people from point A to point B, I could smell and see smoke coming out of the muffler and we have sardine can like MRT/LRT as options. Sad story, but I think there is still hope. I've seen a lot of guys take cycling seriously and doubly happy the Filipinos has been bitten by the bug to take environmentally great steps to be involved to love the worthwhile sport. Brands from around the world even take our young nation to be one of the best places to showcase their products, I'm glad they even took notice because it's an emerging market as we go greener, even more.

Aside from the opportunity of helping the environment, health-wise, it's the best thing that could ever happen to you if you pick up the habit. Doing a few kilometers would get a few calories burned, fat dissolved and kilograms lost in the mid section. It's benefits have been unquestioned by health and fitness professionals so why shouldn't we do it right? Some might be put off by the high prices but there are better options out there like Strida, Tern and Pacific who have foldable bikes that are affordable yet quality. These brands carry The  Taiwan  Excellence seal which was campaigned by Bureau  of  Foreign  Trade  of  Taiwan (BOFT) and implemented by their very own Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA). It's Taiwan's mark of quality that guarantees the superior value of lifestyle brands all over Asia which now includes the Philippines. They even coined the term "innovalue" as they continue to produce products to stay ahead of the pack when it comes to manufacturing with the highest standards. They've got lots more where that came from and it's reassuring to get world class products undergo strict quality processes so you know you're getting what you paid for. You can get to the destination, help the environment and stay healthy. How can you beat that?

I'm going on a trail this weekend with some friends just for fun, you should too!
