G-SHOCK Releases #PambansangGSHOCK Watch

Friday, July 20, 2018

G-SHOCK has always been in my wrist since their resonance early 2000s. I was so honored to have met the man who started it all in 2014 when he personally went here for the G-SHOCK World Tour, I'm talking about Kikuo Ibe. The man talked about how he started conceptualizing a timepiece that could weather the elements, survive a drop from 4 floors, then wow the whole world with it.

They've done exactly that.

Then there were more.

Chronographs

Solar and Carbon

More Chronographs

Big G-SHOCK for men.

Now that they're here in the Philippines, they've not only made their presence felt - but sold quite a lot of these timepieces which we've all grown to love. At that time they even made a limited edition GSHOCK watch for the Philippines, which I've been using since then (Yes I am still using it til now!), worn out but totally still fine from all angles. It's one of the reasons why I always have a GSHOCK because it literally lasts years, very practical and superbly designed.

This year, they've announced the G-SHOCK "Design The National G-Shock Competition" and a LOT of people joined in (about 1,200 individuals) who had background in art direction, product design, graphic design and just about every regular joe who could whip up the best looking GSHOCK that would best represent the Philippines.

CASIO Japan Executive Masaki Obu announcing the winning design.

Finalists include Aaron Cedric Manaloto, Adrian Delmo, Austeen Manalang, Carlo San Jose, Dennis Inosanto, Jerome Banal and Joshua Panaligan. They were flanked by Mr. Masaki Obu during the event.

Dylan Dylanco shows her winning piece, it's called HABI and now dubbed the #PambansangGShock

The winner is Dylan Dylanco. She is self taught, but is an experienced illustrator who's expertise include branding and graphic design. She has already done a lot of things including other lifestyle brands and sports gears, no wonder she's done quite well no?

Her inspiration for this design is the Filipino's undying spirit, the Filipino tribes from up north to the ones in the south and how we've done fabric weaving through the centuries. If you're a Filipino, you would be a little familiar with the patterns, which in turn would also remind you of indigenous tribal warriors in the country. Their grit, toughness, same spirit that runs through the veins of our country's heroes, comparable to the tough G-Shock watches we wear today.

The HABI on my wrist.

The warrior colors are just magnificent! Plus, it's built to last!

This is officially the first G-SHOCK made for and designed by a Filipino. Wear them proud as these guys are limited edition. There are only 200 pieces of these out there, count out the number of celebrities who were there that afternoon so that's even a smaller batch.

You won't get these anywhere but only the G-SHOCK stores like G-SHOCK Ayala Vertis North (where we were!),G-SHOCK SM City North Edsa in QC, G-SHOCK Glorietta 4 in Makati, G-SHOCK Greenbelt 5, G-SHOCK SM City Clark in Pampanga, G-SHOCK SM City Santa Rosa in Laguna, G-SHOCK SM Lanang Premier in Davao and G-SHOCK SM CDO Downtown Premier branch down south.. It retails for Php 9,999, stocks surely will run out fast!

Hurry! I'm not even joking!

ACER and G-SHOCK Launches #TimeForUs Campaign

Wednesday, July 05, 2017

I had a very wonderful time at the recent launch of ACER and Casio GShock's latest campaign called #TimeForUs off BGC Taguig. Tons of influencers, bloggers, media people tried to find out what it was all about and we didn't get dissappointed with ACER and GSHOCK's surprise for us as my very own rock idol Basti Artadi was there in the flesh! Apparently, the two brands are facing head on this not so talked about DIVIDE amongst Gen X and Millenials.

Now since I'm caught in between (in a case where I'm born in between the years they suggested GenX and Millenials are born in), I'm also sort of split between believing the freedom that we have long fought for as a GenX'r and enjoy the thought of doing anything I want as accorded being a Millenial myself because what was preached to us was we could do anything that we want, as long as we can dream it. There's nothing wrong with that but I guess what's been in the minds of both these generations are the things that make them better than the other, and not the things that are good in both generations. I think I get what they are doing.

Ms Sue Ong Lim says "Here at ACER we believe that we don't need to divide GenX and the Millenials. We are alike in more ways than one, we want technology to make the gap smaller and have technology to break those barriers. We will prove tonight that these two artists can produce a piece that will our latest campaign called #TimeForUs"

Casio's Marketing Officer for GSHOCK Charlene Hung says "Regardless of how many years apart we can still bridge the gap with GSHOCK and Acer. We echoed to use technology to be present in both millenials and gen X's lives. From young to old, we have been doing this for years already and we are excited to show you what #TimeForUs is all about."

Juan Miguel Severo (that guy who does spoken word thingy's on TV) represented the millenials and got himself to combine what he's doing with Basti Artadi's music and lyrics. Just like them, ACER and GShock didn't want the divide to happen. This is why together with the campaign, they also launched the Time For Us music video (which was by the way was awesome to see and hear live during the event!). You can check that out on the Acer Philippines' Facebook Page.

For the piece de resistance, they also announced that for every qualified purchase of an ACER Laptop, would entitle buyers to also own a brand new spanking G-Shock watch! Oh yes it's for free! You may proceed to ACER Service Centers in Manila, Cebu and Davao today or their Facebook page (facebook.com/acerph) to know more about the Time For Us promo!

Thank me later!

GSHOCK Shock The World Tour 2014! - Manila

Thursday, March 06, 2014

It was our turn a few nights ago to be in the midst of the one and only Father of GSHOCK Kikuo Ibe who flew all the way from Japan just to be in the Manila leg of SHOCK THE WORLD TOUR 2014. It was awesome and even MORE shocking to have seen this man in the flesh, then he goes on and open the celebration with an opening speech in full Filipino language. No joke!

He even sent his heartfelt condolences to the lives lost during Typhoon Yolanda, even shows his love for the Philippines. What I admire about this guy is his humble disposition even if he's already somebody in the world of watches. He even showed a tell all on how he got to discover GSHOCK and also showed the trials he went through just to prove that his design works no matter what gravitational force is put onto the watch. Heck the American ads even showed it being run over by a truck but still it survived! Amazing!

Management from the lone Philippine distributor Belrewmond Trading Inc. already knows how much FILIPINOS love GSHOCK; and with new designs plus even better quality in their watches it'll surely catapult them into number 1 in no time.

Having a GSHOCK after all isn't just fancy fashion, it is the TOUGHEST watch there is in the market. It's design can even weather a 4 floor bathroom window drop. Kikuo Ibe himself tried it that way and it never even get damaged in vacuum, shake and hammer tests.

Mr. Ibe himself threw his own watch to this target at blazing speeds! He said "Buti na lang hindi nasira!" gaining laughs from the crowd. He's a pretty funny guy!

As part of their 30th Anniversary celebration, they also launched the limited edition GSHOCK watch Philippine Edition. It's got 30 stars on top, three stars and the sun design on the bottom strap plus its done in white. There's only a few out in the market so you better grab one if you get the chance. If you prefer a more adventurous look, they've got lots more where that came from and I'll show it on video!

If you like what you see, maybe it's time you get another GSHOCK since I know you already have one right? :) oh and they've got some really bad ass local artists and street/urban fashion store owners as endorsers too.
