Women, Power and Money: PUSOY on VIVAMAX

Just got off the advanced premiere of the film PUSOY starring Vince Rillon, Angeli Khang, Baron Geisler, Janelle Tee and an ensemble cast. The popular card game isn't actually that known quite as much elsewhere so having this in a movie intended to be shown in film festivals had me a little worried. It might not be able to get that part of the game understood. Though between that concern and how this could be an interesting story line, Director Phil Giordano had us all at the edge of our seats and left us all asking, what would happen next?!

This is an action, drama, suspense film but set in the Philippines. Vince plays the role of Popoy, a very doting son. Married but still in the home he grew up in because he couldn't make ends meet as he supports his folks, his wife and kid too. Under circumstances that he couldn't control, he had to work for a gambling lord (played by Baron Geisler, an intense man at that). He takes commissions doing favors and finishing rivals in the dens they go to. Janelle and Angeli's character on the other hand are card sharks, and if you put two chicks in one bowl... the claws come out. That starts a whole other conflict not just in the game, but their relationships.. and their lives changed.

I wouldn't want to spoil things for you, but definitely... a lot different from the usual Filipino flicks we see in cinemas. The material was worked on successfully by Direk Phil Giordano and Direk Brillante Mendoza. This will be shown this May 27th on VIVAMAX so make sure you download the app and subscribe to see this and other titles on their library. The film also had a tough premise, if you had no choice... would you do something illegal if lives were at stake?!

Giordano World Without Strangers Music Festival

It's the 25th year anniversary of Giordano Philippines and what better way to celebrate that but by staging a huge festival right smack in the middle of Glorietta mall. They also deem this the best occasion to introduce their newest endorser Mr. Rico Blanco!

It was something for the history books as they turned the 4th of July to be our own celebration of Philippine music. It's something that they see to be part of who we are and that's why they never hesitated to get the best of the best bands in the country. They also got the ultra conservative guys to host the show... of course it's the BOYSNIGHTOUT crew!  Other than that, they have made history by inviting these 15 local bands namely Callalily, Sponge Cola, Urbandub, rockstars Franco, Up Dharma Down, Gracenote, Techy Romantics, Taken By Cars, Kala, Autotelic, Join The Club, Cygnet, Maude, Hidden Nikki, Yolanda Moon plus Rico Blanco who performed the World Without Strangers song during the festivities. They also have given recognition to 12 people from different walks of life who gave value to the "World Without Strangers" declaration that Giordano stands firm with all these years.

World Without Strangers is also composed by Rico Blanco. It was something that he had fun making because the concept was easy since it relates to Giordano's vision of a borderless world. It's something that a person like Rico Blanco would believe in. They also have announced the winners of the Giordano Statement Tee Design contest. The winners shirts will be released somewhere in the last week of July. The track will also be available on iTunes so everyone can download it there.

The mission is clear and they have absolutely given the Philippines something that the world is in need of. A World Without Strangers. This event just put a stamp on that!

GIORDANO, A Linen Story And Their First Local Endorser

 Since 1981, Giordano has been able to establish its name in the fashion retail industry. Any Filipino would probably have one shirt, jeans, jacket or accessory in his/her lifetime. In the late 80's and 90's, Manila went all out crazy over colored shirts that it was almost normal to have that in different colors. Me included.

Giordano this year did something brave; they just announced that they will have their own local endorser. It happened to be someone everybody knows because of his hit series and undoubted popularity gained over the years. He might be 46 years old in real life but even the Vice President of Giordano Lloyd Lim said that it's not about the age, but how he carries himself, his style and demeanor. Their first ever local brand ambassador Richard Yap. Yes you heard that right. He is Richard Yap aka Papa Chen aka Sir Chief. He epitomizes Giordano's brand values and he's the perfect guy to represent the brand.

World without strangers is also their thrust this season. With 2006 stores all around the world, they are going to basically bridging the gap of age groups, ethnicity and style.

Not a stranger to us, Sir Chief himself is so confident that he's going to represent the brand very well since he's used the classic shirts even before. When asked, there was really no convincing anymore to get him as an endorser since he embodies what GIORDANO is as a brand. He represents any age group, and charms even the housewives at home with his style, that they didn't even want to change anything on his wardrobe.

Giordano also released their main campaign for this season. It's called A LINEN STORY. A Linen Story is comprised of three mini collections: Ethnic Beat which plays on Aztec symbols,  NATURE BURST which takes inspiration from nature, and SUMMER BLUES which concept comes from the beach. Giordano still aims to provide essential and timeless fashion for all; and to develop apparel for everyone regardless of your ethnicity, nationality or culture.
