Zack Snyder’s Justice League on HBO GO

Friday, February 12, 2021

For those who are fans of the DCEU (DC Extended Universe), this comes as real good news. Your favorite heroes are back in their finest form in new movie Zack Snyder’s Justice League. If you've been following the whole brouhaha how bad the 2017 film was and what injustice it got in the box office lol, this is a breather. The original director who unfortunately quit during post prod because of family matters is back in the helm and doing it with his vision. This will be shown on HBO GO (oh yes the app!) which is available in the Philippines. It will premiere the same time as it is in the US. No need for VPN or a US Credit Card to do it now. This will happen on March 18, 2021, a Thursday.

Heroes you say? It'll be Batman Ben Affleck, Wonder Woman Gal Gadot, Aquaman Jason Momoa, Cyborg Ray Fisher and The Flash Ezra Miller.

They'll be having some pretty stuff opponents named Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid. Of course they have their minions too. So as early as now, go download the HBO GO app on the App Store or Google Play Store. You can also watch this via hbogoasia.com, Cignal, and smart streaming devices. I'm glad I already have subscription, so all I need is to wait for it.

Will this be loyal to the story? Or will it be an entirely different take than what's seen on comics? This is after all DCEU, and hopefully, fans won't be disappointed.

HBO GO Battling Streaming Giants in PH

Wednesday, December 11, 2019

I have been dreaming to use HBO GO for a to compliment my viewing habits as it is like an extension of my current cable experience; which is perfect if I am not at home. With all the streaming services we have now in the market, HBO seems to be the one who could beat the others with content. Their original series, the different movies they have on their coffers, it just means they just need to be experienced by the ordinary pinoy.

Good thing they got it priced reasonably at Php 149 recently and also got a 7 day FREE trial so users would be able to experience it first before they subscribe. Now you would be able to stream shows like Watchmen, Game of Thrones and other HBO Originals shows from HBO, HBO Asia and Cinemax. You can also get the kids busy with current shows like His Dark Materials and the season ender of Silicon Valley. For Mom, maybe she can try rewatching my personal fave Sex in the City because all their seasons are in the app too!

Via app or the web, you can simply watch it simultaneously and check shows from HBO, HBO SIGNATURE, HBO HITS, HBO FAMILY, CINEMAX and RED BY HBO, these live stuff from HBO GO. You can also download the shows and watch them offline via the app which is easy to do and save for another time. We are fortunate to be in the ranks of Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and Vietnam now that we can watch in the PH. WarnerMedia must be so happy about how excited the Filipinos are now that we have access to HBO GO. It’s available on both Google Play and the App Store.

It's a good alternative, will they succeed toppling existing ones here?!

HBO Asia Showcases PH in FOOD LORE: Island of Dreams

Wednesday, October 23, 2019

8 directors from Asia, 8 different stories, shot in 8 countries India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and told in HBO through a show called FOOD LORE. Ours is done by Erik Matti who also directed Buybust and Honor Thy Father. This was the brainchild of Singapore based filmmaker Eric Khoo.

Bless the people who did this, as this might be the first time any show of this magnitude is being made and shown on HBO GO and HBO Asia. It is an HBO Originals series. We saw a preview of our episode Island of Dreams. It talks about home, our families, how we celebrate and how it is part of our lives and culture. The first two episodes is by Vietnam, Second is ours, it will be also shown on Tokyo International Film Festival.

Karen Lai the President for Communications of HBO Asia says "We based it around food, but a drama series in food conditions talking about love, tragedy and everything in between. We also have a lot of other shows on HBO GO, more material and more seasons of previous shows and blockbusters on our platform. Hope you enjoy this! The show creator and anthology series last year Folk Lore and we left it to him to choose the directors."

Here's our panel interview with them:

The setting is at Sipalay in Negros. Out of 7,641 islands in the country, why is this special? That's for you to find out. It will be shown starting November 3 9pm (but premiere in Tokyo for the festival October 30). There is really so much to look forward to in FOOD LORE. You should also be proud to see the Philippines included here. People need to discover our cuisine, and our stories.
