Joyce Pring Launches Single "BAKA SAKALI"

If you were at Museo de Padilla today, you would have been floored to see how grand the celebration was for Joyce Pring’s album launch entitled BAKA SAKALI. Almost everyone who became a part of Joyce Pring’s success, her management, GMA’s head honchos, Mariel Padilla and Vidanes executives were all there to see how she’s doing it.

Joyce came out, said hi to everyone and was pitched to perform first. She said “I am so overwhelmed seeing you all guys, Baka Sakali is now out so go search and download it off streaming sites. When you feel you’ve given hope on love, you deserve to try it again. May I request everyone to stop recording videos as I’ll be performing this live.” and so we did.

Honestly, this is my first time listening to her sing. It was both entertaining, sincere, she sounds like she’s been doing this for years. She adds “I was very nervous but I’m sincerely happy to be able to sing my own song. The perks are, when I sing my own song nobody would even know when I make a mistake. We have all been jaded by love, but the people, the work, I didn’t want to take chances anymore but late last year, someone tried. Looks like now, it is working. The song is about new beginnings, to give yourself the chance to hope again. When you hide under rugs, give somebody a chance. It was one of the best decisions I’ve ever done in my life. Rico Blanco and I have been friends, I meet him often and hang out and he consistently told me to take it out there, to collaborate with him, I only had lyrics and melody but Rico helped me make it happen. You can now download it on streaming sites. I have written a lot of songs but I have some that are very sad. That to me is very personal so I don’t think I actually have the courage to share that yet. When you’re in love though, that seems to be a little happy so it’s okay if you’re giving people inspiration to give hope, love like a second wind. I don’t think it’s just love because if you have a person beside you who helps you without asking anything in return, then you’ll do good. I want to focus on hosting and singing this year, I have a lot of songs in the lineup but I’m not ready to put out heartbreaks, maybe if some of the clashers would get to sing it, I’d love to work with Christian Bautista and Julie Anne San Jose. I hope to release more songs in the future, a concert, it is in my bucket list, but now we have to do this first. Thank you so much, my birthday is in just a couple of minutes, this is just an amazing evening, God is so good!”

Atom Araullo, Joyce Pring and Richard Heydarian for STAND FOR TRUTH

April 15 is going to be a little different. Next gen reporters will do STAND FOR TRUTH , all for 15 weeks. It is a program produced by GMA News and Public Affairs, funded by Youtube. They are an Innovation Fund Recepient.

This is promising as Richard Heydarian, Atom Araullo, Joyce Pring will be at the helm of the show. Field reporters include real young blood millennials, even Gen Z personalities namely Bhea Jeem Docyogen who is a proud Igorot and radio disc jockey from Baguio, Anthony Esguerra a smart reporter and fellow in New Media and Journalism at Ball State University, Indiana, USA, Asmarie Labao a former forester and DENR Information Officer from Marawi, Ardo Miravalles a Certified Public Account specializing in media and entertainment, Darwin Quirino a Communications Officer for Department of Foreign Affairs-Office of Middle East and African Affairs, Manal Sugadol, a licensed English teacher and a former administrative assistant from Cotabato, Larize Lee a Filipino-Chinese and former GMA Artist Center Public Relations Executive, the youngest of which is 17yo Eduard Faraon who is a Senior High School campus journalist and Jerald Uy a former TV reporter, Road Safety Advocate and vlogger. These guys and gals are just starting, so stay tuned as they unfurl their work on GMA’s online properties.

Atom says “They have undergone training with stellar names in journalism even people behind the camera to make these stories. It was a very strong field, 150 submissions and we had to pick 10 from it. They are young but not naive reporters and I can’t want to see them evolve. I would say it would be a waste of talent if we do not maximize the story telling talent of these reporters and journalists. The platform becomes bigger and bigger, it is not just for this organization. Anyone can upload content but there are lots of potential. The format is evolving, we want it to be fresh and different from television, visual but it is a daily show.”

Richard Heydarian adds “I was inspired when they pitched this to me, I got to know these people, I am a teacher by heart and these guys and gals are the cream of the crop. We are now talking about how to make this a team, to make this a gold standard for the region. We have a tough battle, but very confident in the team, we can sync productions so we could get more. We do not want this to be seasonal, these things can work, we hope this goes beyond what we are doing today.”

Joyce Pring says “Right now I am trying to manage my time, from Unang Hirit to events, to hosting in the evening then Unang Hirit again (sometimes sleeps in the car), but I have personal block-offs for time for family and since I am covering music I’ll be in Saguijo one day and the Balloon Festival this afternoon. It is going to be my content, I get to talk to the people behind the bands and events I have to cover. It is not a set of tasks because this is ever evolving, we have a lot of stories to tell. We have youtube as partners, so the reach will be massive.”

The show starts this Monday on GMA News and Public Affairs online channels (GMA’s website and GMA’s Youtube channel) on April 15 at 8PM. You should watch it if you want to Stand for Truth.

THE CLASH Starts July 7

Not holding back, the Kapuso network is coming out with the biggest singing competition on Philippine television this July 7, 2018.

Imagine, 62 of the best singers in the Philippines battling it out on stage after a rigorous audition that was held in different parts of the country. In the show, they will get the chance to pit against each other and showcase what the Filipinos are known for in the world, world class singers. As you may know, this will also be hosted by the one and only Regine Velasquez, Asia's Songbird. She will be flanked by Joyce Pring and Andre Paras as they bring you updates with the contestants all throughout the show.

They also will bring in esteemed judges like Las Vegas diva Lani Misalucha (who quirps she's excited to be back working with her friends), Aiai Delas Alas (who loves the format because ordinary people can now showcase their talent) and Christian Bautista (who wants to make sure they will have to choose the perfect song and sing their hearts out!). Now isn't that enough to be excited about!?
