Meet KFC’s CHACO (No Taco Shell, All Chicken!)

I had this event on my schedules imprinted as CHACO DE MAYO. It ain’t Cinco De Mayo but the colorful south american vibe of it was celebrated in a new food item from our friends from KFC. I was a bit late because I was waiting for confirmation of my tickets (of another loner travel series soon) but I was excited to see what this fuss was all about. I heard they were already serving food and in the center, there was a big taco that looked funny. It wasn’t an ordinary taco, it looked huge and the shell was thick. Then it hit me, CHACO meant Chicken Taco! Ingenious, we waited for them to serve. 

KFC’s Brand Manager Martha Dela Cruz says “2019 is very busy, you love the cracklings, the famous bowls and recently the double down. This one is exclusively served to you guys as you are the first ones to taste it. It is fresh from our kitchens, we made this fun, inspired from local cuisines and I hope you guys enjoy the CHACO. It’s got lettuce, tomatoes, salsa, taco mayo, grated cheese all sandwiched in our chicken fillet. We hope you enjoy this!” 

This KFC CHACO will be served on May 9 in all KFC stores nationwide, but only on limited offer, so request for it if you like it so it would stay on the menu. Enjoy your CHACO! Oh and you’ll be getting a surprise ok the 13th, let’s see if we’ll make a separate feature for that.

The NEW KFC Extra Crispy Chicken

I've always loved KFC! I used to have this as lunch almost everyday in high school since we had a branch right beside Trinity in QC. I had the original recipe those days because I was trying to figure out HOW IT WAS MADE so I could replicate it at home, so let's just say I kinda failed miserably. These days I wouldn't be caught going here without my favorite HOT AND CRISPY Chicken because it's got two things that I loved, the crispy skin and breading plus of course the intense heat that comes with the "seasoned Chicken thigh" which I always had when ordering a meal. The problem is, I couldn't share a bucket at home because I'm the only one who could stand the spicyness of the HOT AND CRISPY variant; and got my Mom, Dad and everybody else take out the good parts of the chicken, and I end up eating them all! (So it's a good problem!)

Lo and behold the other day on Facebook, I got to watch a touching video of a guy falling in love with a girl all over again... it was an ad about the NEW KFC EXTRA CRISPY CHICKEN. Which means that if you're not much a fan of the spice level of their HOT and CRISPY variant, you can enjoy the same crispy batter on this new chicken option! Now that just means one thing, Mom, Dad and everybody else at home can now eat this chicken the same way I do without worrying how HOT it is, and that's just AWESOME!

What's even better is that this KFC EXTRA CRISPY CHICKEN 1 PC Meal only costs Php 99.00 together with rice, a regular drink, a creamy junior mushroom soup and KFC's signature gravy (you can get a plate and have it all LOL). KFC Releases New Four Cheese Chizza

I was busy the whole week and the Friday wasn't gonna let down either. When I arrived home, imagine my surprise seeing a familiar red package on the foyer carrying that little ol man on the front. When I opened it, it had 2 boxes in it and a bottle of what seems to be cheese. It was KFC, but what startled me was seeing the word CHIZZA on the box. CHIZZA? I really haven't had this in KFC nor did I think there was one on their menu because last time I checked this wasn't part of their offerings.

Okay, so I think they sent me something that isn't really out in the market yet so I did what most normal people would do... look at it first, then opened up the box!

Then I said WHOA! Wait a minute, it looks like a crispy fried chicken and pizza rolled into one! So that's why they call it CHIZZA! Well, what's that thing on top? I immediately went back to the paper that came with it - read that this thing is actually cheese. Oh yes ladies and gentlemen, CHEESE!  

 This bottle that came with it basically explains what's on top of the KFC CHIZZA. It's Romano (which is the more hard salty type), Parmesan (which is a little nutty, grainy and hard), Mozzarella (which actually is the best melted, soft type) and Cheddar (another hard cheese, comes in white or orange and is a little sharp). They put that on top of the lovely, crispy chicken and heated appropriately, it just has that lovely aroma of the combined cheeses and you can still taste the individual morsels in each bite. I know, I'm making you hungry but somebody's gotta tell you right?

How good was it? Let's just say that when I did take a bite from one slice and left it on the table... when I came back... both boxes were empty. Yes ladies and gentlemen, my family basically are CHEESE monsters and they've raved about it over dinner. Yes, some had the gist to actually even eat it with rice. Although I prefer it plain and simple, just like The Four Cheese CHIZZA that it should be.

This weekend would be a good day to visit your favorite KFC branch but since it's not out yet, you must come back and check out their channels when it'll officially be in stores nationwide! It's going to be available for a limited time only, so you know what to do! Go to a KFC store near you!
