Jin Ju-Hyung and Devon Seron for You With Me

Monday, September 25, 2017

I was so glad to have been able to cover the first press conference of this movie because I got to actually get to know Devon Seron more. They invited me again but this time it was extra special because she's going to be with one of the lead actors Jin Ju-Hyung. The movie You With Me is about a Filipina who seeks freedom from her over protective parents and she chose to do her journey in South Korea to teach English, then meeting Korean stars Kim Hyun Woo and Jin Ju Hyung. I was more familiar with Kim Hyun Woo because I watched that KBS drama The Gentlemen of Wolgyesu Tailor Shop, so knowing Jin Ju-Hyung was going to be here, I got to know him even more other than his appearance in Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth that was also shown in the Philippines.

Ju-Hyung said "This opportunity to work in the Philippines is a great thing. We are so blessed yo finally see it materialize. Hopefully this is a start of more things to come. My character is cute here, that's his weapon. As for the story, that's a secret. She is kind and I like her personality, her manners, for sure she is girlfriend material. We are just friends, we are close friends so we talk a lot. Working with Direk Rommel made me relax so I could act easily, I feel comfortable because we understand each other when it's shooting time. It's so different working with Korean directors because it's a bit more difficult. Compared to other Asian actresses I've worked with, it was more comfortable with her. I am interested in working here, if there is a chance to work with other actresses too. We had a lot of meal time together also with Devon and Filipino crew because it felt like family. That is what I want to also have in Korea, if possible. My next KDrama will also be exciting, it's called "Live Up To Your Name"."

Devon Seron explains the concept of the movie and said "You with me is a romantic drama about a family, doing online teaching that got her to South Korea. Ju Hyung is a very serious guy, I open up to him because he can speak English. Hyun Woo is a comedian in real life, so funny, and when we are together we're like a ruckus. To be honest, I got to talk to Ju Hyung a lot more because of that. I am actually nervous about this movie especially now that it's coming out. I was shocked to know that this was an international film, because when I auditioned I initially thought this was an indie film. I learned a lot about acting, I know I have a lot of things to improve. I just learned about it through a friend and got picked even if I gatecrashed this audition. I asked for a favor so I am so thankful. When I auditioned almost the all the auditionees were theater actresses. It was different working with them, their dedication is not normal because they wait there even if it's not their scene. They also set meetings just to read lines, and it's not a thing in the Philippines so for me that is impressive. During the audition I was just being myself, I didn't have to sugarcoat and get emotional sometimes and I get overwhelmed. They did a 4 days shoot here and did it fast, that accounts for 30 percent of the film. I would like to work with more artists, anyone would do."

Jin Ju-Hyung was kinda stiff in the beginning and I think he was finding it a bit hard to communicate his emotions to the press. Later on, he began to become super playful. He began teasing Devon Seron to guys like Jon Lucas and James Reid whom he probably read about in social media, true enough Devon began turning red because Ju-Hyung didn't stop mentioning their names as the press was asking questions. I began looking at Ju-Hyung differently, I think that's exactly what women find very cute about him... he was a bit crazy that afternoon LOL!

Anyway, I think Devon Seron would probably have two men escorting her in the upcoming Star Magic Ball, if all goes to plan, she will be flanked by two gorgeous Korean leading men in the occasion. Kim Hyun Woo and Jin Ju Hyung would really look good during that evening, I'm sure of it. Devon should really start braiding her long hair because it might reach Seoul South Korea once it shows on theaters this September 27 under Gitana Film Productions directed by Rommel Ricafort. I'll be at the premier night tomorrow, and I hope to see Kim Hyun Woo tomorrow (I'm a fan!).

Jeric Gonzales, Abel Estanislao and Jak Roberto Now Sings as 3logy

Wednesday, August 05, 2015

There's this boy group, not necessarily a boy band, which I find so unfair because just look at them! It's Jeric Gonzales, Abel Estanislao and Jak Roberto, three guys who have really good individual careers, are joining together to form a group called 3logy. I did say unfair right?

Jeric's been doing a lot of Magpakailanman and Karelasyon episodes. Aside from that, he's in the Dingdong Dantes starrer called Pari 'Koy where he plays Eli Marasigan's character. Aside from a very successful acting career, he's a very spirited singer and they've managed to work out this group when people from GMA Artist Center noticed that they actually look good together when they had workshops a couple of months ago. Abel Estanislao on the other hand has two shows on his helm. He's in the Kristoffer Martin -  Joyce Ching show Healing Hearts and plays Earl while he also is in the Ruru Madrid - Gabbi Garcia prime time show Let the Love Begin (of which I happily saw him again yesterday!). Jak Roberto on the other hand is still in Half Sisters and and the same show as Abel in Pari 'Koy. Evidently, they're all successful in their own right, but why form 3logy?

Jak Roberto says "GMA Artist Center saw us first and decided that we sing most of the theme songs of the recent Koreanovelas shown on our station. The first one we ever did was the revived version of "Maybe It's You" that was used for Kim Sam Soon. We all enjoy singing, Jeric can play instruments, so does Abel, and I on the other hand already had a group before so it wasn't really hard to do this. We know our voices. Their initial plan was more of be like the APO Hiking Society where we'd do mostly revival songs, and do it in a more acoustic way. We all played the guitar initially, but we transitioned doing the Koreanovela's theme later on. It's a bit hard to convince people because there are a lot of other artists who probably are better than us but we prepare very hard before a performance just so people would like our music. We're not here to impress, our intention is so that people would enjoy, get entertained when we sing.We have small problems in scheduling because we work in different times. It's a challenge because it's difficult to form a song when one of the members isn't there, including syncing, rehearsals too. We also had to beg off with some of our mall shows because of that, but it's all good. Zeb Zuniga helps us in vocals and Mikoy too, even in blending. I get inspired with singers like Duncan Ramos, I do falsetto's and it's difficult. Maybe we can do a few originals and a few Koreanovela songs as well."

Abel adds "It's in the workshop, that's where they started it all. Mikoy Morales made us our very first original song and that's what we've been singing lately which is called "Pwede Ba!". We sang this first single in Sunday All Stars. Hopefully there will be plans to have an album too, but we prioritized to release something digital first and that's what we have now in OPM2GO.com. Mikoy is currently making more music for us as he says. We're really excited for that. We're also trying to compose, but it hasn't materialized yet. Mikoy is a genius, he mastered that part. He makes good songs, I like it as our voices are not into those dance tracks. I think we'll fit love songs better. That's where you'll hear more blending, as what we're gunning for. As for relationships, mine's a bit complicated. We're not a boyband, I started as a musician before I did showbiz. I was doing jazz and playing in Stonehouse, I did sessions there, music is in my heart, it's my passion. Right now, we're doing this together with our individual shows. We don't have a lead singer, it just depends on the song so we usually alternate. In Pwede Ba, I suggested a few things so when we recorded it he liked it and that landed in the song, we do have small creative inputs. We have covers, we have originals, (then they sang Gusto Kita by Gino Padilla during this bit). I like Rannie Raymundo's music, he sings differently when live. We do work hard in Artist Center, in the next few months I hope the group gets more well known and perhaps get more following too."

Jeric also says "There was one workshop where we were spotted and they knew right then and there that we looked very good together, we have chemistry, so they thought of bringing us together. Then we said "why not?!, why don't we try that!". We're all single, so the song "Pwede Ba" was really perfect for us. We like love songs because we're sweet guys really! LOL. We've been working hard as a group, we bond, we rehearse a lot. We practice our song over and over again so we'd sound good when we perform, and also improve even more. We have challenges because my schedule is different working in Pari 'Koy but we're doing good. We've rehearsed a few songs now so we can do something more if needed be, but we're also concentrating on the Koreanovela songs we can do in our repertoire. I personally like artists that are more in the RnB side, so I get inspired with JayR and Gary V. I do high notes but it depends on the song. Hopefully, we can get an album, that's our goal."

These good looking guys, their songs, all but have nowhere to go but up. Aside from their very promising songs, you can look forward to see them promote not just their shows... but their group as well. You should definitely watch out for 3logy as they come out with more songs, be in more shows in malls, and TV very soon. I can't wait to see their first album, hopefully they could release one before the year ends. They hold a lot of promise, it's just a matter of time when you'll love them all over again when they sing their way into your hearts very soon. Congratulations Jeric, Abel and Jak! This is just the beginning!

Here's a preview of their latest single Pwede Ba

Julie Ann San Jose Releases New Single!

Sunday, March 29, 2015

Super duper gorgeous Julie Ann San Jose was within our midst a few days ago. She just came from a DAYOFF episode taping and was extremely running on adrenaline during this event. She also won in MYX Music Awards which happened a few days ago but was unable to get her trophy. She had commitments that same evening and had to leave early, so we did the next best thing and asked her to do an acceptance speech for winning the Favorite Mellow Video for the single Right Where You Belong. Here's the rest of our interview!

She knows what she's doing and so confident, her music career is still in the green and flourishing so she's got nothing to worry about. You might have also heard in the video interview that she's launching a new single called "Kung Maibabalik Ko Lang" which is a revival from a previous group/band in the late 80's to early 90's (not the one from Regine). It was also used for the Koreanovela "Future's Choice". It felt hopeful, romantic, to go back and look for love again. I know what you're thinking, haha!

Julie Ann San Jose started telling stories about the DAYOFF episodes she's also doing. "The process of getting Tuba is super hard. We had support, we had professionals to do harnesses and heights, plus an ambulance nearby which people should wait for because it'll show on April. The first one was with the Coast Guards and I had semi training on how to be one. I was scared of the water, especially because it's Manila bay, the oil, the waste water, I was scared. Then we had to do rescue sequences and had to flip life boats, it's not as simple as I thought it was going to be. I had to jump 20 feet from the sheep and clean the ship's sides. I was with Ate Mae Bautista and that helped a lot.

The second episode though was a little easy because I just had to cook and sell banana cue. Although I'm always getting wounds from these episodes, I felt these are real battle scars. I have one for every province we went to I think. The third one was a little icky because we had to roam around and collect KB (Kanin Baboy or food for pigs), we had to feed them, we had to clean cages, I wasn't so happy. Especially the part where we had to sell them off after taking care of them for quite some time.

The fourth episode was in Prince David in Ateneo, that's a 20 storey building and we had to put stickers on it and do it manually. Like a swing, one step and you're gonna fall. The gondola wasn't as easy as I thought, I was safe because of all the harness but think about the whole ordeal when the thing had 4 people on it plus Ate Mae with me. The men who pulled us up wasn't as healthy looking too, but I'm so glad I survived that! There's also an eel episode (igat) which are usually pests, it's so slimy and I didn't like that at all. I got stuck at that challenge because of all that slime, like giant worms. I'd rather have snakes than that. It's good that they don't bite and they live in muddy waters. Although they were already electrocuted, it was still hard, so think of the regular people doing this on a daily basis, they need this to survive. I also don't want to get penalized but I fell a lot in the mud later on because I didn't do well during the whole episode. You should all watch out for that soon because I will do more of it this year!"

As for plan for another concert, she says YES there will be another one. She plans to do it in Araneta Coliseum and hopes her fans, her friends would support her just like the last one. She's a strong woman and she'll be coming out with more single soon from her album DEEPER which is still out on stores, music stations, record bars too! Follow GMA Artist Center's social media channels to get updates on when the concert will happen, it's going to be this year she hopes!
