BELA PADILLA Launches Own Beauty Brand BELA

Thursday, September 12, 2024

Bela Padilla launches her own brand BELA (Photo by Aaron Nomo of NumuTV)

Bela Padilla has made waves being a very versatile actress, a noted writer, and a very talented director. Since last year, she's been living in the UK and have been enjoying and found refuge in the cold weather, while still being able to work in PH based projects when needed. She goes back to the Philippines when needed and this time, she's wearing a new hat other than endorsing beauty brands. She made one of her own, and called it properly, BELA.

BELA Dot Perfection and BELA Color Changing Lip Balm

Two products were introduced during the launch namely BELA Dot Perfection and BELA Color Changing Lip Balm. We got to ask her a few questions during the event and she says "I've been using this cheek and lip balm for a few months since I had prototypes. I really use it, and when I put my name on it I truly believe it. I have been on hiatus, but today I believe you guys can use it too. I know it works, and I leave the house with nothing but tint. The video earlier showcased different people of different ages. It is safe for everyone, and can say I'm the biggest fan of it. The first collection is just 2 things, but you can use it every day."

She adds "We are now available in three malls in Bacolod where we did a pre launch. Apply only one dot on each cheek because it is very potent (hence a tube will last you a few months). We found manufacturers in the Philippines and tested it with a lot of people. It was the best way we could see if the products work or not. This is color adaptive so it can be used for different skin types. It looks natural and will look like skin blush as an end product. We want to do this first and maybe have other artists or people to do other products under the Bela brand. It's very moisturizing, and I'm even very sensitive and I use this constantly. I get breakouts with other brands but this one had no reaction on me."

As for the brand, she mentioned "I wanna veer away from empowerment angle because I believe it's not because of looks that we become confident. I don't have a full face of makeup, but I want people to feel good even without putting much on our skin."

Here's our interview with her a few days ago, listen in!

Bela is quite happy how this all seem to turn out. From countless hours of conceptualizing a product that she loves, to using it countless times even without anything on in public, just these two. She also packaged it in her lucky color, made it for the tropical climate and want every mary, joe, rupaul or brando to use it if they feel like it. No matter what shape or form you are, you can use BELA. She found her brand, you can too.

Congratulations Bela! You deserve all the success because you're a kind soul.

Alex Gonzaga for ISSY&CO.

Wednesday, December 11, 2019

Looks like Alex Gonzaga is becoming a regular in the beauty scene as she now becomes the face of Issy and Co. A local cosmetics company who does cruelty free lippies, shades and other products. Tapping Alex feels like a connection for the millennial market for them and yes, they plan to do a collab with her very soon. They currently are selling fast in online shops. Now that she's part of it, they might need more supplies even more!

Alex Gonzaga says "When they presented it to me but I felt their passion. Even though they were just starting I really saw the potential of the brand. We met and they were all very nice and collaborative. It's cruelty free, vegan, but hella not expensive. Their pure raw materials might have cost a lot but they made it a point to have the costs down (very affordable) without compromising quality. I like Desert Rose, Skinny Dipping the most, because it's like some ants bit your lips as it colors easy. I love the cushion lippy too, I have friends who are obsessed with them even if they are tied with other brands (name witheld). First time we met, they asked me what I use, I took out my current ones and they took notes and even if some of them are hard to find in the country, they plan to make a line and version for me so they can have it available here in the country. My boyfriend likes the no makeup look, and it doesn't smudge much so he tells me too. On 12.12 we have a lot of discounts on Shopee and BeautyMNL. It is healthy for the skin and is okay even for pregnant women. It does run out easily on stores but they are doing something about it. This is paraben and lead free. I am confident about this product, I have my friends try it and now they're asking me for more! I really hope you try it out yourselves because even teens, to adults can try this all by purchasing them online. Go to Shopee, Lazada and BeautyMNL."

Now head on and put them all to your cart especially this 12.12 season because they have tons of sale items, free products to give away for people who choose to purchase this sale season!

Kyline Alcantara for BLACK LIPSTICK Shows October 9

Friday, September 20, 2019

I have been hearing about Black Lipstick for a couple of months now. Apparently, this gem of a sequel from Seiko Film’s Blusang Itim where Snooky Serna got the title role from - and is going a bit modern. Consider this as a millennial take on it. I initially thought it was a series but apparently Obra Cinema is gambling on this for the silver-screen with Kyline Alcantara at the helm.

Kyline did a lot of shows in GMA which includes Kambal Karibal and Inagaw na Bituin. She’s still young but it looks like this well awarded actress (from PMPC and ACAA) is taking this all in as her biggest break. It was a hit back then, if you’ve watched it in the 80’s or on YouTube today, you’ll understand why it was adored back then. Snooky was a woman who had an ugly face but turned beautiful when she wore a black garb, this time however they’re using a black lipstick, are they going to change her life from an illness? Judging from the early trailers, it looks like she’s got vitiligo. It shows as white patches on skin and is a bit showy especially on darker skin.

Note: A supermodel Winnie Harlow had this during ANTM Cycle 21 (although she’s getting flak right now about her recent statements against the show) so I am a bit familiar with the condition. I guess to overcome this as a regular person is definitely a challenge, hopefully people will get to know the person and maybe, learn a thing or two about being human.

Snooky says “For me it has come full circle because I got to witness the new version of Blusang Itim which was a very memorable project for me in the 80’s and I just hope the public would love the 2.5 version of it. Kyline is different from me, I was a bit anti social, she is outgoing, in 50 years here, I still get nervous. She is very young when she started, we are both pretty too. She is very professional, very passionate and grateful about their job, that is so beautiful.”

Kyline says “She doesn’t accept who she is, she got bullied, she doesn’t love herself because of her vitiligo. I am a little tense, but Direk was so cool, even Migo and Manolo. I have worked with Ms. Snooky before but this is just an exciting add on. Black Lipstick will show on October 9, and I hope you get to appreciate the persona of Ikay. I am the type of person who thinks ahead so I am pressured. I wouldn’t want to spoil it, both of them I really enjoyed playing, especially Ikay. I hope you love her as much as I do.”

Here's 40 minutes of the blogcon, enjoy!

Director Julius Alfonso says “I love working with intelligent actors and I have seen that in Kyline. They do inputs on the role, I encourage that so it would look natural on screen. She’s very good, I have worked in teleseryes, but she is something I could work on and is refreshing for the role of Ikay and Jessie. I like to work with young actors because they are not boxed, very spontaneous, which hopefully they will enjoy.” Kate Valdez who plays the mean character here says “I get a bit affected about comments with my character. I will be quite mean when it’s about a loved one, maybe that becomes a source of conflict. You should watch out for that!”

So now you’ve got something to watch out for this October. Will KylIne become the next big star? Some have already considered her one, will you be doing that too? Remember, it comes out on theaters this October 9! Black Lipstick is under Obra Cinema.
