Filipino Anime Barangay 143 Launched

Tuesday, July 31, 2018

I’ve never seen anything like this yet on Philippine TV and it’s a welcome change from regular programming. Knowing how the cartoon/anime industry works, this must have taken them years to actually conceptualize and finish, but a couple weeks ago, we have confirmed that Barangay 143 is finally here!

In huge celebrations at the Centris Tent in Quezon City, they had us take a look at the voices behind the characters of the Filipino Singaporean Anime series which will be seen on one of the countries leading networks, GMA.

The series is produced by ASI Animation Studios, Synergy88 and August Media Holdings in cooperation with Japanese Television Network TV ASAHI. It’s all about the Filipinos favorite sport, BASKETBALL. It’s a little funny how we all are much known as shorter people but so involved with this sport. They will see exactly why we are so connected with it, drawn mostly by Pinoys, and a story line that also talks about Philippine life in a Filipino setting.

During the press conference, they introduced celebrities who played the voices of the characters in the series. GMA’s Migo Adecer’s voice was used for Bren T. Park, a half Filipino - South Korean basketball player searching for his Father when his mom died. Julie Anne San Jose plays Vicky the team manager, Ruru Madrid is Wax who plays for the opposing team, Kelley Day plays Jinri who is Bren’s friend, veteran actor John Arcilla plays Coach B the star coach from the Philippines, Gabbi Garcia plays Melody who later falls in love with Wax, Ms. Cherie Gil plays Sophia, Paolo Contis plays Koboy, young Raver Eda as Buchoy and prime actress Sylvia Sanchez plays Tita Baby (every Filipino has one Tita Baby no?). They will make your short few hours a fun one with this show.

This show will probably start early October 2018 on GMA and will also be shown in Japan sometime soon. People will see a glimpse of Philippine street basketball, a short view of how romance and passion is done here in the Philippines too. Are you excited? Don’t worry because according to the few stars I have talked to after the launch, they had fun doing these characters, they just hope you will enjoy this too!

By the way, you can also download Barangay Basketball on Android now and play as one of these characters, you’ll get to see how they will do the story soon on the Kapuso network, I think they are block timers, stay tuned!

I can’t wait to see this happen!

GMA Records Outs Migo Adecer's "Suntok Sa Buwan"

Monday, February 19, 2018

Promising as promising could be, Migo Adecer is slowly creeping the star ladder. After winning Starstruck last 2015, he's been in a rollercoaster ride appearing in GMA's brightest shows, tons of TV and provincial guestings, plus another feather to his hat which we just heard today. The boy has charm, good looks, but have always regarded singiimg quite close to his heart. He's no stranger perfoming covers in appearances and I've personally seen him do pop songs, rnb, dance hits and enjoy it with his fans, I could tell how he wants it to happen. GMA Records recommended a song and he liked it a lot, and he wanted to make it a bit more personal so he's touched this a bit, done in Filipino, and that's where his new song "Suntok Sa Buwan" started... and we liked what we're hearing.

Migo says "I am taking my job seriously than when I first started, it’s a bit hard to actually learn Filipino and acting so I’m taking it as is because I have assignments while I’m working. I’m finally become one with my roots, when it was pitched to me I heard it and first thought it wouldn’t suit me. I was told I could add my personality, it was amazing when I first heard it after recording it. I pictured it singing like Ms. Kuh Ledesma, I wouldn’t want this to be half baked music and I’ll give it my best. Hearing people say it’s good and how it was a magical moment to do the rap part was actually good. I had 12-16 lessons in Australia, singing in my bedroom too and I always rapped, but professionally this is beta. I hope I’ll be able to do mid this year it would be a little more dark, I like my music that way. I’m 18 and I understand it a little more, maybe I can express who I am more. My management is well handling things and I am ready to take challenges thrown to me, I respect them and I’ll be doing, I have been with keeping it down low with my relationships too."

Here'a a bit of our conversation, and a sample of his singing. Enjoy!

If you want to hear it, it's now available on digital stores and streaming sites worldwide. This is under GMA Records. Make sure you say your piece on social media and tag him, he'll appreciate that!

The One That Got Away on GMA

Sunday, January 14, 2018

Had the chance to watch THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY this afternoon through an exclusive screening. The series is starred by Dennis Trillo (Liam) and his exes Rhian Ramos (Zoe), Lovi Poe (Alex), Max Collins (Darcy). What would be fun to see is how they (the ladies) were able to keep friendship in tact despite being a common denominator for one guy, the one that got away. This is an original concept by the GMA Entertainment Content Group.

William Dominic “LIAM” Illustre is a businessman, the most prized batchelor in town. When Liam got into an accident, the three ladies found themselves inside the hospital, bedside their exe’s. This looks like a riot, the most awkward scene, but Mark Sikat Dela Cruz (the director) made sure you can differentiate one from the other. They’ve got their families, their friends that would act as their conscience.
Nar Cabico entertained us during the screening. He sang the theme song GAGA which you can find in iTunes and other digital stores, just search for it!

Nar says “I was inspired by people who ask opinions about love, so this song is for them. They learn a thing or two in the song. I’m the best friend of Darcy here, I tell a spade as a spade out of love for a friend, a sister so you will relate to him a little.”

Max says “I am so excited to see the fight scenes, it’s super funny!”
Lovi adds “You’ll see our group’s chemistry, it will show on screen because we blend in even if we are fighting over a guy.”
Rhian says “This comedy is outlandish, I am excited for you to see how the heart is involved with real people.”
Dennis proudly adds “This show is a different mix of people, different personalities so I am do excited for you to see how it will show on the series. It will be shown tomorrow right after Kambal Karibal.”

Saw the first episode, and on thing I can say is... it looks so fun. Their introduction alone had people jeering in the audience. Nar Cabico was hilarious, saying it straightforward means he’s going to be exploding expletives every now and then. When they met, it was awkward, but meant that there are still unfinished business between them and the other ladies which Liam should finish. Their past is colorful, don’t get me wrong, but Liam made sure they are not in a relationship at the same time, he’s doing it fair.

Don’t also discount the fact that their respective families and friends are quite colorful, each having their own characteristics which still end up going for Liam as well. Destiny? Karma? Comedy rolled into one, that I think is TOTGA.
The show also includes Migo Adecer, Jason Abalos, Sophie Albert, Ivan Dorschner, Jason Francisco, Luz Valdez, Ayra Mariano and a lot more!
This is just the start, so if I were you don’t miss the first episode right after Kambal Karibal on GMA Telebabad.
