AIA Philam Life's Coffee Closing Project

Friday, October 30, 2020

I've had my share of horror stories with companies taking the whole lot of procedures just for a single transaction which could have just been a simple verification on a computer screen. The wasted hours, the skipping of lunch and a hot head made me furious, a lot in fact that I just decided to call it a day and leave that place.

This morning, I got to see the light. Although we are still under GCQ, the folks at AIA PhilAm Life showed us how their company is making headway in making not just providing the apt plans, but improving procedures in a project they call AIA Philam Life's Coffee Closing Project. Gone are the days of physically meeting up at coffee shops just so you could get a policy work for you. The tons of papers, printing, photocopying and presentations while having a cup of joe beside each other should be inexistent for safety reasons. Makes sense?

AIA Philam Life's Coffee Closing Project simplified things in three-steps. With this, all it takes now is 20 minutes. From e-Submission, e-Signature and e-Payment, things get simple as everything is online. Agents utilize an AIA Philam Life iPad-based interactive Point- of-Sale (iPoS) tool. This produces a secure link for transactions, powered by Fusion, an AI-powered and award- winning digital underwriting platform which validates insurance applications. Imagine that!

Ms. Bernadette Chincuanco Head of Banking and Communications at AIA PhilAm Life says “We are very excited about this as we streamline our procedures and adapting to what our customers need at these times, I don't want to spoil it for you!"

AIA CEO Kelvin Ang says “Good to see everyone. We have challenges this pandemic and in ways it has made us see the digital capabilities and now we have to fast track and customers have asked us to quicken the process, we had to step up with innovation we recently shared and it has won us awards. Today we are able to power and enable us to do it in a faster more efficient ways for our customers. I am looking forward to catch up with everyone soon, we have a lot of cool things we're doing."

Margarita Lopez the Chief of Operations Officer of AIA Philam Life explained Coffee Closing saying “This is digital end to end and can be done in 3 steps. Submit documents, Pay and Confirm. After that they can access it in under 20 minutes. AIA PhilAm Life can send details online securely, signed digitally and get it under that amount of time. It saves us time, you get instant coverage and do it before finishing a cup of coffee. The customer portal can also be accessed from anywhere, plus an entire village of customer centric PhilAm agents to help along the way. We want our promise of protection to be available and easy to claim from us, AIA Coffee Closing was born during the pandemic, and now is available on Facebook messenger without having to go to any of our centers. We talk to clients and bring this integrated platform in an agile manner. We also use analytics to see what matters to our customers.”

Ms. Necy Santiago the Head of Customer Experience explained “Our customers feedback told us our signing process was complicated and we had to do something not complicated. We want to get them onboard and assure protection. It enabled us to work on a prototype to give them offers all within the week with a design sprint. From concept to implementation in three months, we were able to overdrive our success and give it to the customers who will enjoy them. The problems which we usually not see, we saw it and a lot of them needed help, it made us realize we need to address it and bridge the gap. We took that to heart after validation, it was easy to implement and very clear in that development period. We learned our customers was ready to help us, it is also our duty to reimagine solutions and collaborate to address matters. We got a mix of people, and our customers had given us really nice feedback making our processes even better.”

Mr. Emmanuel Mendoza the Chief Technology Officer of AIA PhilAm Life says “Bracing the concept of having necessities is one concept I heard from our events. We will continue to develop technology, analytics for the fully modern architecture to scale our productivity. It will power us with better understanding of our customers, to keep our agents educated physically and digitally; to make sure we have events for them even more in the pandemic. We are in a good position to provide not to just be there but do transformation programs and be a leader globally.”

Mr. And Ms. BPO Holds Final Screening Today

Saturday, October 14, 2017

Today marks the last day of Mr. and Ms. BPO screening and we can't wait to see who will actually get in on this particular pageant. Aimed to showcase the best of the best in the industry, men and women will be joining this soon to be annual event to represent their companies, finding people who will take charge, lead and inspire a lot of people. I have worked in the BPO industry for 11 years. During that time, I've seen how it has grown into just plain outsourcing arm into a full blown intellectual and practical talent source that has provided high paying jobs for a LOT of people in the country. It's high time people look at it differently as it's not all eyebags and zombies, but really talented people, professionals who work hard every day just like you and me.

This afternoon, we got to meet the people behind Mr. and Mrs. BPO including Apprentice Asia winner Jonathan Yabut and he says "Those contestants will get to enjoy and be mentored by the four judges. It's by voluntary basis but they can ask their respective companies HR and perhaps do their own pageants on their own then represent themselves. Looks is definitely there but we will be choosing someone who can inspire, communicate their points across, and we get to do workshops after they learn the lessons. I do workshops for companies and executives, a lot of millenials. The pageant partnered with the Call Center Association of the Philippines and they will have a say on what charity the proceeds will go to. The hope is to do this yearly and perhaps internationally because this is a huge industry."

We got the chance to talk to the judges and asked them about people they are looking for to win this pageant.

For those who want to join, you have until 5PM today to do so as they are holding the final one at the I'M Hotel in Makati. For more information about it you may visit their website www.mrandmsbpo.com or their Facebook page. Finals will be on November 21, 2017 at the MOA Arena.

INNOVLABS by Synergy88 Digital

Friday, October 06, 2017

If you're a budding technology and programming enthusiast, you better listen in. As you may have already learned on our first article, Synergy88 Digital has already been able to achieve a lot in the past few years and has pegged itself as a world class company that delivers digital creative solutions with exceptional quality. That in itself is a feat, harnessing triple A talents from the country to produce extraordinary game and app concepts, development, 2D and 3D art and animation. Now all that didn't come easy as they had to face a little known problem in the industry, the goal to find talented workers.

As you may understand, the work they do might have to have had divine intervention but most of it has got to do with the talented individuals doing magic behind computer screens. The difficult task of finding the right person to press those keys and scribble those pens is daunting as it requires the same quality of skill set to match the world class things they produce. The hard task must have brought out the best in them because they didn't even think of putting up INNOVATION LABS. It suddenly became an opportunity to help the Filipino skilled workers  get to the level they were expecting and needed. It was but natural for them to take part in an initiative to share their expertise to partner schools and have them experience, learn and take part of what made Synergy88 Digital successful all these years.

We got to interview the Senior Manager for Business Development and head of INNOVLABS operations Miker Rivera about the program  and here's what he's got to say:

To add to that, we also had a chat with Ms. Geraldine Yumul, Synergy88 Digital's Corporate Representative on Industry and Government Alliances. Here's what she had to say:

Learning to do those skills in a bigger setting, to get your feet wet, to get those young minds realize their ideas in a the real world, that was set in stone and interpreted to a chartered map. It was also one of the opportunities to see and identify promising and talented individuals that could eventually be part of their teams. All of these would come from proposed theses in these partner schools, they'll help them to make it, train with appropriate workshops and have them use the resources as accorded by their agreements. This will also be properly screened for candidates, expecting the same professional work they churn out in these offices. They have a lot of success stories, but this had an arm dipped in a willing corporate social responsibility too to help uplift the kind of education people get from the universities and colleges they partnered with, teaching not just the theoretical and technical legwork that comes with the territory, but the necessary work ethic on a level that is expected of a triple A level professional.

Currently, they are receiving a lot of interested parties, schools and government agencies because this is absolutely seen as an industry with BIG potential. Imagine how this would disrupt the current business worldwide when we witness the full capabilities of Filipino artists, programmers and individuals who would undergo INNOVLABS in the long run. We know how we're being sought after by people in the same industry around the world, and imagine how convenient it would be for families to stay together because this division is going to be based here in our own country. Nobody would have the thinking of leaving the Philippines anymore because we're capable, we have the studios and armaments to do it in our own turf. That's probably going to happen in the near future, imagine the possibilities. Just think of the countless students and schools that INNOVLABS could help with this program. Thousands of lives would be changed and I'm excited as it holds a lot of promise.
