Private institutions like Rescue 5 have been sternly supporting government efforts in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management. They're the public service team of the happiest network in the country TV5 and they're gearing towards real deal partnerships with lead government agencies and just recently forged it with the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council, Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS), Bureau of Fire Protection and Department of Education. They launched an activity book for the benefit of kids and simple minded people that inculcates disaster preparedness which also has been approved by these agencies, a step that would help further the cause to save more Filipino lives in the future.
This is part of Rescue 5's Oplan Handa sa Eskwela Project that has been going around the country to educate more children that live in disaster prone areas so they would not encounter any problems when the supposed BIG ONE happens in the near future. They also show safety demos and videos then give 72 hour survival kits that contain emergency devices and supplies. This has not been done in this scale ever before and this prompts TV5 to pursue cause journalism even more as they see a very big potential to help our brothers save lives when it happens.
TV5's Head of Public Service Sheryl Yao and Rescue 5 host Renz Ongkiko spearheaded the campaign and will continue to be there to pass the message to thousands, even millions of our countrymen so we could minimize the effects of disasters when it strikes.
Congratulations on your efforts TV5! Congratulations to the whole Rescue5 team too for further putting out this cause!
