Roxanne Barcelo for IWant’s FLUID

Friday, March 06, 2020

A man can fall in love with a woman, a man can fall in love with a man too, it can be anyone, romantically and or not, that’s fluid.

Roxanne Barcelo plays Mitch, who meets George (played by Ann Colis) who both got hurt in past relationships and ended up liking each other, no matter how weird that sounds to some people.

Roxanne says “I really appreciate that Direk has that much trust in me in creating a production like this. I was hesitant about this but now I understand how I had the best experience of my acting life in this series. The lines that Al Tantay told me just broke me down, he said If you’re sad I’m sad, I just miss my Dad and those lines just touched me. I wouldn’t say how it felt, you have to watch it to see how people go through relationships. I couldn’t compare the kiss with her, she’s so beautiful, she’s a stunner, mulatta, she’s very captivating and if you were my character, you wouldn’t be surprised how she fell in love with her. Showtime was an experience, it was therapeutic and that’s where I experienced how there is music in all of us. How to look in our experiences, don’t die without letting your music out of you. There was a time I got to perform back there, I would be glad to be a host there if given a chance. I wouldn’t want to just stay sweet in roles, I want very creative ones and this was a nice place to do it.”

Here’s how the presscon with her, the Director and Joross Gamboa:

Fluid is made for iWant (so download the app now), this is produced by Lonewolf Films and written by Carlo Ventura, Benedict and Benjie Mique. Cast includes Janice De Belen, Al Tantay, Zar Donato, J-Mee Kantanyag and Emmanuelke Vera. Episodes 1-4 will be up on March 16. This film is about acceptance, family relationships, how love disrupts everything so make sure parents and young ones watch it!

Get Ready for Viva’s ABAY BABES

Thursday, September 06, 2018

If you had one choice, who would it be?

Jade, Emerald, Ruby, Perla and Goldie, names that you would hopefully remember as they get immortalized in this film called ABAY BABES. This is Viva Films hottest offering this year as they take a fun story of friendship, betrayal, romance and love as they prepare for the grand wedding of their friend, but where’s the groom?

The movie stars Natalie Heart, Meg Imperial, Christine Reyes, Kylie Verzosa and Roxanne Barcello. This started all with a childhood promise of being there for each other. After a few years, one of them (Roxanne Barcelo) was getting married to a guy she met online. She never met him in person yet, so they thought it was just a pretend wedding. This caused a lot of rifts between them, will that promise of being in each of their weddings come true?

Kyline says “I am a nun here, prim and proper, I accepted this because it’s not risky, I can show the opposite character of my previous movie.”

Meg adds “I had to do research with my butch friends because I had to play a lesbian/trans man.”

Roxanne says “We had a talk, we also did a workshop with John Lapus so it was pretty good to do that and practice comic timing. Right now I am not with anyone, I am enjoying my time with family, friends and work, I am very much present and enjoy this freedom.”

Christine says “I had to do a lot of projects on TV both on ABSCBN and GMA, doing drama too much may have associated me with that drama but no, I am actually a comedienne, I feel it’s natural and people poke fun at me and I get back at them easily. I find it fun to do that.”

Natalie says “It was only Christine who knew the whole time that I was pregnant while we were doing this movie. I only didn’t tell them so that they wouldn’t really treat me differently. And really I was just cray, I was temperamental because I was with hormones, tired and sleepless and had to juggle myself between projects.”

Will this just tear them apart? Will the lies, envy, pain all wear them down and finish this friendship? That’s what you should find out.

New Movie BINHI (The Seed) On Theaters May 20!

Saturday, May 16, 2015

We saw this movie a few days ago in Glorietta Cinemas upon invitation of Viva Entertainment Inc. It's called Binhi (The Seed) which stars Joem Bascon, Mercedes Cabral, Kariz Espinosa and Roxanne Barcelo. This is a horror film, very old school, stemming from a family's journey to find work, independence and old friendships from the charming Baguio City where this story is set. This is also directed by Pedring Lopez, a synnergy I guess by Troy Montero's post production company WeLovePost, BlackOps, MFT Group, Haunted Tower and Viva Films.

Joem and Mercedes plays husband and wife who got hooked up renting an enormous house that they got for cheap in a far flung place in Baguio City. Mercedes is also pregnant at that time and needed to take refuge here than in Manila for a simpler and quiet life. Things turn out to be a bit creepy when they started living there. She remained optimistic all throughout until they got to see a ghostly kid popping around the house, their dreams, their everyday lives.

You have to watch this film and make sure you bring your friends, loved ones and see how old school executed pinoy horror flicks are done slightly with cool computer based effects. I must say, I thought I was going to be bored watching another Filipino film but no, this has really good content, story and will make you think about it in the end. I don't want to spoil it for you. Make sure you watch it on theaters come May 20, 2015. The kids were so creepy they even visited us during the premier night LOL!

If you're a little creeped out and if the photos at least sparked your interest, watch the film. It's okay to be frightened every once in a while, good for the heart.

Ciao!
