JC Santos and Ryza Cenon for Mr. & Mrs. Cruz

Tuesday, January 09, 2018

It’s so nice to hear that the one who wrote and did Kita Kita is actually on a roll as she takes another project called Mr. and Mrs. Cruz. This movie is produced by Idea First Company and Viva Films and will show on January 24, 2018. You can’t teach chemistry and when they did this, they had to undergo workshops first because the material was difficult to execute and they wanted the characters to become real, they didn’t require them to workout for the role.

Ryza says “Direk Sigrid was so open to suggestions, very detailed and we felt like being trained because we had to do workshops just for the character. JC gave me advise on our lines, they prolly did this in theater so it was easy for him. I might have struggled a little because I was shooting two projects in the past so it was a little hard adjusting to this.

JC reveals "I watched Direk on theater, in UP and she was good. I was so lucky to work with them because it was a theater process because we rehearsed it before the actual thing happened. We even shot it on her phone so the process was easy. I didn’t act too big because she toned me down when we filmed this. Ryza knows the screen and how it works being in the industry for quite a while. She’s very good."

“I didn’t really expect Kita Kita would be that big but I’m not pressuring myself that the same will happen, but I do hope it does because we have worked hard for it. This is about love, marriage, finding yourself and moving on. It will also tackle and define happiness. I made this before Kita Kita (the script) they are an interesting pair and I have seen them in past projects. I was really interested working with them. I am so excited how this would turn out. Yes, theg did deliver with the material even if it was a bit difficult to do this, but they agreed to do workshops with me because of the process. This was shot in Puerto Princessa and El Nido, I fell in love with the place. They need to see how beautiful the place is! The underground river, the secret beach, island hopping, it’s all gorgeous!” says Sigrid Andrea Bernardo, the writer and Director.

Make sure you head on to theaters on this date because according to Direk Perci and Jun Lana (who already saw it) says it’s a material that differs so much from Kita Kita but says it’s a welcome change. Direk Sigrid is gunning for personal happiness while doing it, so if you connect with the emotions of the characters, that’s exactly why they did it. I’m watching!
Are you?

GMA Network's "Believe In The Magic of Christmas" Campaign

Wednesday, November 09, 2016

Had a nice evening with GMA's brightest stars, a few blogger friends and kapuso brigade people over at GMA Network's Believe in the Magic of Christmas Campaign Video launch. When they say magical, they mean it's the first locally produced, first in the country, 3D Animated Christmas campaign that starts Monday November 7 during the airing of 24 Oras, GMA's primetime news program. Their thrust is to air several heartwarming and magical stories so Filipino viewers here and around the globe would be able to believe in the magic of Christmas.

There will be three parts to the story of Magical Crayons, sending the message of getting wishes granted in the eyes of a child. They are doing this fresh from the win of "Alamat" (legend) which just won Best of Festival during the US International Film and Video Festival (USIFVF). The Christmas story project is the brainchild of GMA's Program Support Department under FVP Regie Bautista, AVP Dino Garcia, AVP Hasmin Marable, ACD BJ Camaya, PM Catherine Co, Writer Nicole Castillo, Juan Javier, Reybert Ramos, Laqy Laqueo, and done by GMA's Post Prod FVP Edward Achacoso, VP and Head of Operations Paul Ticzon, and SM for Video Graphics April Canasa - Angeles. The theme songs for this year's Christmas campaign will also be sung by Julie Anne San Jose. The other stories will come out soon so if you have watched the first one, stay tuned for the others on GMA Network. There will also be promotions done kn GMA network's social media properties so make sure you follow them there too!

I can't wait to see what the other stories would be!

Ryza Cenon and Martin Del Rosario for "Ang Manananggal Sa Unit 23B"

Wednesday, October 19, 2016

I am typing these thoughts at 3AM. I just watched the Ryza Cenon and Martin Del Rosario starrer for the QC International Film Festival entry called "Ang Mananananggal sa Unit 23B". I thought it was going to be a run of the mill horror story that we always watch during this season, but alas, that wasn't the case at all.

The supposed freak show turned into a light plotted romantic film. I was giddy seeing how the love blossomed between Nico and Jewel, and how it almost failed in the end.

Humor wise, I would really want to give props to Ms. Vangie Labalan for doing such a good work on the grandma role, she had us love her character which was so cute and endearing.

I could feel Ryza Cenon struggle really hard on that run of the mill painful transformation to a mythical monster, she did good as Jewel and if there's one thing I would want her character to do, it's a successful love making session with Nico. Not to spoil anything but I don't really find this movie scary at all, but more "cute" in a way.... plus a little bloody with the way things turned out for the lead roles. I think that was on purpose too, a little thinking wouldn't really matter much to capable audiences.

Here's our short interview before the film was shown in Robinsons Galleria.

I went home wanting to congratulate the two who saw the film with us a few rows back but they were already whisked away for work and perhaps more screenings the next day. I couldn't be prouder for Martin Del Rosario, if I would have not known these artists personally I swear there must have been something going on with them romantically judging from the film. It's very current too as it touches on Extra Judicial Killings, not on the President or any names though.

Think of horror, but see something cute, if that's making you think about seeing this film, nobody is stopping you. As for me, I find it good to watch with friends and your girlfriend. Go to Trinoma, Gateway Mall, Robinsons Galleria and UP Town Center. It's totally worth it! You'll end up smiling like I did. For the ladies, pretty soon you'll love wearing red nails. Watch the film and it'll tell you why.
