Martin Del Rosario at New Hope SPED Center

He's one of the most talked about male celebrities in GMA, sometimes good, sometimes bad. But what seems to be something he'd be mad about, he always gives his left cheek and say he'll take it as a challenge. He takes different roles, does the job well and gets lauded by his peers. Not a surprise because he's been doing that in the past few years already. He's Martin Del Rosario, and he chose to celebrate his birthday differently this year too.

New Hope SPED Center is an educational facility catered to care for differently abled and special kids. They're already making headway in getting kids, older ones too to become part of a community by giving them proper care and get integrated in normal workforce later on in life. It's a cause very close to Martin's heart and he took time to see and talk to them a few days ago in K 11th in Kamias, QC. It's very near my place and I couldn't help but admire this very humble guy who chose to help others during his day. Martin played games, gave food, gave prizes to the kids in the center and made their day even brighter. It's like a different side to the Buena Familia star and he felt so happy to be able to do this with GMA Artist Center, and their sponsors.

New Hope SPED Center also thanked him and gave him a small gift as a way of saying thank you for his efforts. He wants to do this again in the near future and promised he'll be back again to see the kids. He also mentioned he doesn't plan to have relationships in the near future as he's busy working, but whatever life throws at him, he'll accept it with arms wide open. He's a good man, and you can't let a good guy down.

Andrea Torres Spends Birthday with SPED Children

It was a morning of touching scenes when we went to Barangay Pagasa in Quezon City for the birthday of Andrea Torres, one of GMA's prized actresses. She chose to do it again today with SPED and special children from the community and she even brought her brother who's also in the same condition. She's proud and happy that people are starting to get educated about their condition and treat them quite normal, as they should be all family. 

Andrea's brother had down syndrome and is behaving quite beautifully because his parents and the community played a part in therapy, training and honing his surroundings with positivity and acceptance. The Barangay Captain and his Councilmen thanked GMA and Andrea for visiting them that afternoon.

Host Tess Bomb tried as much as she can not to cry because she also knows how hard it is for the moms present in the occasion. Taking care of a child with special needs actually takes a lot of effort and this event is a way for Andrea to thank her supporters, fans and the moms  who have been able go the mile for their loved ones even as they're in this state.

Andrea joined and played with them in small parlor games and gave away a lot of presents so they could go home happy not just with the gifts, but with the memory of at least once in their life they got to share a moment with Andrea Torres whom they love even more after that.

One of the kids also sang a song for Andrea as a way of saying thanks in his own little way. Andrea also thanked her sponsors Aquabest, Scent for Senses, Skin Rejuve, Happy Haus Donuts and Petrol for chipping in on the goodies that she gave away for the moms and their kids with special needs. She also thanked Artist Center who helped her organize the event as usual. She hopes in some way she inspired the Moms and their kids to take good care of their family members in the same situation. She's happy that she get to spend time with them despite her busy schedule. She's on Sunday All Stars so watch out for her production numbers there! In August, Andrea's also coming out in a film and series of shows which was shot here and in Cambodia. They also worked with Cambodian actors so this is really something big to watch out for.

Special Day For Special Kids With Kris Bernal

The last time I was with Kris Bernal was in the Girls Town which was in far flung location in Marikina City. It's a place for abandoned girls where they get to study and be productive there. She always had a good heart and says she always goes back to that place whenever she has free time. She also takes time off from her hectic schedules and spends that with them. 

Last May 14, she went to a different place and says this was quite special for her. She visited General T. De Leon Elementary School in Karuhatan, Valenzuela City. This is one of the only few public schools that have a dedicated SPED department in Metro Manila so a lot of special children with special needs go here. Together with the City Government of Valenzuela, the Krispers (Kris Bernal's official Fan Club) and her sponsors, they went out of the confines of the GMA building and went all the way north to be with these kids.
