James Wright and Mikoy Morales for Kapuso Music Quiz Night

Monday, November 24, 2014

Took the evening off from the busy streets of Manila and decided to go to an event in CaliBurger in Timog Avenue for the Kapuso Music Quiz Night. I didn't know what to expect but I guess they'll be asking questions in the lines of music, or some trivia about it. I was a bit late and apologized, but good looking crooner James Wright was already there talking to the other bloggers. Of course I've already interviewed this guy when he launched his album a couple of months ago here and when they got launched here. James sings like you wanna sit down, have a glass of champagne and have a date with someone. It's like you want to fall in love and get hurt and say it's okay just as long as you are loving someone... sometimes, you feel like he's got it all.

Don't let his looks deceive you. He's a mean spirited singer I'm telling yah. That's what got him to do Carmela's theme in the first place. As of now, he's busy with Strawberry Lane and tours to promote his album here and in other regions. He's doing the legwork I'm sure and with the acting stints here and there, he's bound to be one of GMA's bankable artists. I think they're pairing him up with Kim Rodriguez who's an equally sexy lass. I hope he gets noticed more and sought to be in projects in the future, after all, he's a good chap.

Aside from James, good looking Mikoy Morales was there too. Last time I've seen him was during Thea Tolentino's debut where he sang a very amusing, but quite endearing composition he made for her. They look good together and how I wish they do end up in church some day. Anyway, Mikoy is busy with his new show together with Elmo Magalona and Janine Gutierrez called More Than Words. He plays the role of Chester Balboa, a geek who's life is also going to be intertwined with Ikay and Hiro. The show is already faring well and he's pretty happy about it. Aside from that, Mikoy Morales regularly appears in Sunday All Stars. He's not just a good singer but a pretty good musician and composer too. Who wouldn't fall in love with a guy like him right?

Plus what I like about James and Mikoy is, they don't have qualms having fun with us during the quiz night. They're not the type of stars that think so highly of themselves, they're so humble and appreciate small things. They even lead both of our teams answering questions and singing some of it. They don't make you feel like a stranger because they're naturally warm people. They probably know that people would be shy to approach them on a regular basis but this one, they felt right at home... I really appreciate people like that because as I see it, they're genuine. In show business, you can only tell a handful of them have that trait. Oh and before I end this, please watch Julie Ann San Jose's concert on the 13th of December at 8PM. It''ll be big because it will be held at the Mall of Asia Arena, tall order but I hope you get to see it!

Please do not hesitate to support these two young gentlemen who's working hard to make their dreams happen. They're one of the few who are triple threats, might as well idolize someone who has talent in the first place. I had so much fun, thank you so much to GMA Social Media peeps who invited us... hope this wouldn't be the last! :)

Bea Binene Celebrates Birthday at "Haven for the Elderly"

Monday, November 17, 2014

We went all the way to Barangay Sampaloc in Tanay Rizal to celebrate Bea Binene's birthday with folks from "Haven for the Elderly" which consequently is also the set of her show Strawberry Lane. Bea has just turned 17 and she wants to make it real special by sharing her blessings with the Lolos and Lolas from the shelter managed by DSWD.

Bea Binene

Also present during the occasion were fans of Bea particularly the JaBea Irises. They wanted to support her in all her endeavors including the causes she believes in. Bea loves her grandparents much like the rest of us; but for those who don't have homes, it is a different situation. It's a good thing that there are government agencies that provide shelter and care for these individuals, otherwise they'll be roaming the streets without anyone providing hygiene and a place to sleep. GMA Artist Center arranged this gathering so Bea and her sponsors can give back, even just a little.

Bea wishes for them to have good health, and more birthdays for them too. Since Strawberry Lane has rated very well, she wants to give back to the community where they shot the show. Bea doesn't want to wish for anything anymore because she's already so blessed and an opportunity to say thanks was enough for her. She sang a few songs for them later on.

She also gave away prizes through small games they prepared for the elderly. She gave thanks to Unisilver Time, Posh Nails, Tony & Jackey, Monreo Biscuits, Active White, Magnolia and Kambal Pandesal. The Lolos and Lolas were extremely happy to have received precious gifts from them.

The Haven for Elderly folks then whipped out their guitars, their drums and started playing Christmas songs. It was a very touching way to say thanks for everyone that made the event possible. It was like a mini party for them. Bea's Mom was also seen crying on the sides because she felt so happy about their gesture, she was super happy.

She had to blow a couple of cakes too from her sponsors on this bit.

To end the occasion, they also serenaded Bea Binene before heading to the tables for lunch. They were that sweet!

Thank you GMA Artist Center for letting us tag along on Bea's birthday. Here's to more meaningful journeys for her this 2015! Oh and by the way, they changed the time slot of Strawberry Lane and pushing them right after Elmo and Janine's show. Watch out for that switch!

Charee Pineda's Surprise Birthday Party

Wednesday, September 24, 2014

We traveled all the way to Valenzuela City Hall up north to find Charee Pineda. She's a recent addition to GMA's stable last year as she came from the other channel. What we didn't know was how busy she is these past few years, not just with shooting shows but also serving the people of the 2nd District of Valenzuela. She's a Councilor, and she's well loved by her peers, the Mayor and her constituents. So when they planned to do a surprise party, they did it in style! They had a workshop and leadership training seminar that morning for the scholars under her office. It was also facilitated by World Youth Alliance which is an NGO that she also helps. She thought that she was going to be interviewed about it only with one camera crew but was shocked when she came inside the venue. Surprised as she was, she cried because she didn't know it was going to be her birthday celebration that was going to happen that afternoon. GMA Artist Center, prepared everything including some goodies that they gave away to the youth of Valenzuela City.

Charee here with the representative from World Youth Alliance, wishing her happy birthday.
Mayor Rex Gatchalian of Valenzuela City and Charee's co councilors were also there to celebrate with her.

She was so happy because she didn't expect anything on this day but a simple dinner with family. Celebrating it with the people who care for her meant a lot to Charee and she says "I'm a crybaby even if I'm watching TV I cry a lot. I didn't expect this and I was really touched by this gesture. My staff didn't give me any clues. My scholars, the Mayor, it just feels so good to belong with the best people just to surprise me. I was supposed to go to Manaoag but I begged off because of the traffic and only planned to be with family later. I miss showbiz and miss shooting. Hopefully soon I would be able to work in a soap, time management, I hope GMA Artist Center takes care of that even if I'm still in school and with Valenzuela. My love life is so good and it's nice because he's not from showbiz. He's from Valenzuela and he also grew up here so he understands what I do. I want to be a councilor again, it's my first term but I want to learn a lot so that once I get to be in a higher position I would be well equipped. It's the same reason why I'm taking up Political Science. I wish that I could take time and get to appreciate everything that I have right now".
