MIKOY MORALES Lands 2 Movies in Cinemalaya

Thursday, August 03, 2023

It's been a while since we've had the chance to talk to Mikoy Morales. The accomplished actor, singer and comedian has gone leaps and bounds since he started his career in Protege. There has been a huge change in his persona, as he admits it has kept him a bit angry over the years. Now he's initiated to take a look at things with a perspective, to rather take a pause when talking, think over what he should say instead of the usual defensive reply and even gaslighting. He admits to being conscious about it, and the changes he's done made this year a fruitful one. In Cinemalaya alone, he's got 2 movie entries namely "Tether" and "Rookie".

"Rookie" is about women's sports. Mikoy joins actors Pat Tingjuy, Aya Fernandez and Ms. Agot Isidro in this Volleyball-GL (Girl's Love Story) film. "Tether" on the other hand is a lot troubling, a sci-fi film where love, relationships and pain take wild turns, all with them in it. It's a bit of a stretch compared to his previous work that they had to undergo sensuality workshops to accomplish several scenes in the movie. Aside from that, Mikoy has been doing several shows on GMA including a new series (to be announced soon). His music career also has been good, as he's making scores, tracks and music for several films (some to be sent abroad for film festivals). He also has a few singles coming out soon so stay tuned for that as well.

Here's the mediacon for Mikoy yesterday, please watch and listen in about his new films!

Here's a few more about his relationships, and his realizations too.

Mikoy thanks his friends, family, his girlfriend about the blessings he's receiving these past few months. He attributes the nice things he has accomplished because of their trust in him. He also thanks his directors, which he feels was much serendipitous, being at the right place and right time, that in this world of second options, they chose him for the specific roles he's doing in the two projects. His artistry has no more angst and bitterness, no more they/them in the industry, and has proved effective in making him that viable actor he deserves to be. He now knows his priorities, setting it straight, and I hope more people love him for his craft.

He's a good chap, so cheers to that!

New Gen Lead Stars on GMA's Madrasta

Tuesday, October 08, 2019

This would be a huge challenge for these guys, but after seeing the pilot episode yesterday, I'm quite confident they would be able to do a good job in Madrasta.

It's a new show, but casts include the new generation of prime actors from GMA's stable. They have done several shows, led some of them in fact; but the burden of having a drama piece and seriousness of it takes a lot effort wise as what I have understood with Juancho Trivino said. He will be also working with Arra San Agustin and Thea Tolentino (whom I love personally and in several shows).

This series is about romance, adultery, and will involve their families. Check out our interview with them last week.

Make sure you watch the show as recent social media reactions have been very positive. I am confident Arra, Juancho and Thea can give you more in the coming days.

Madrasta, only on GMA!

GMA's Discussing Trans Love in new series

Thursday, October 18, 2018

This is GMA's newest show Asawa Ko, Karibal Ko

Being married is complicated, but what if the person you chose to spend the rest of your life with had a huge secret, something that will change your life. GMA has always been doing thought provoking dramas, but this one is going to discuss falling in love with a man that goes through life, and eventually decides to become a trans woman. Then perhaps, be in a rift with her previous wife, as they fall in love with the same man.

This is another show starred by Kris Bernal, opposite actors Jason Abalos and Rayver Cruz, plus Maricris Garcia, Matthias Roads, Annalyn Barro.

Matthias said “I had a great time getting into the character and Jason and I had to acquaint ourselves with the character and GMA prepared us appropriately. It is groundbreaking, will struck some nerves but definitely something new. Honestly I didn’t know who Jason was prior to this show and we had to work on it so we could make things believable on screen, this isn’t easy.”

Annalyn says “I am happy with the role and this is going to be shown in the afternoon being with new actors, I would want to learn from them.”

Maricris says “I am not playing a villain this time, but a protective sister. My first time, I’m the sister of Nathan, so it is going to be exciting doing this.”

Thea adds “This is different, no supernatural powers. Some of the scenes are not easy to shoot but it is light because they have a lot of energy, I want to see the pilot episode of Asawa Ko Karibal Ko. Aside from that, the immersion had us get to talk to real trans women who had to explain to us the psyche behind who they are as persons. I am a little coarse but they on the other had are prim and proper, in that sense it is difficult to be like them and portray this role.”

We saw the first episode this evening and all I can say is, you have to watch it for the mere reason of essentially establishing who they are and where they come from as humans. This will show on GMA Afternoon Prime, they are not just saying it’s thought provoking because I found it a little uncomfortable. This would open so many discussions which I think will make sense once you watch the show.
