Mr. DIY Announces "Team Kramer" as Brand Ambassadors

Monday, May 15, 2023

Going to Mr. DIY in any of their branches across the Philippines has been something I'd try to resist on a regular basis. It just seems that I couldn't resist how there are always low prices for items that they have. There are tools for carpentry, home improvement, electronics, garden, summer items, toys and just about anything you need to decorate your home, Mr. DIY has it. This evening, they had us see their brand ambassadors in the presence of Charles Salecina, Roselle Andaya, Ferdie Casis and a throng of Mr. DIY's executives.

Mr. Charles Salecina says "Thank you for taking time to be with us this afternoon. Mr. DIY is launching a new campaign with our new ambassadors to push the brand to become the country's favorite, and become the biggest family store for your everyday needs. We opened even more stores across the country and have maintained "Meron DIYan" tagline, making sure anything you need is at Mr. DIY all the time. Our products are quality, and we want to make sure it's at the lower price point for our consumers."

Mr DIY CEO Roselle Andaya adds "Thank you for making this possible, your continued support has been appreciated. Mr. DIY is not just a store, we improve lives by improving homes, we believe quality need not be compromised for families. We welcome a family that exactly reflects our values, I am delighted to welcome our first brand ambassadors Team Kramer, Doug, Cheska, Kendra, Scarlet and Gavin."

Cheska says "Yesterday we all went to the the nearest Mr. DIY branch near our home and there was such a unique array of products to choose from with every member of our family. Kendra and Gavin went to the toys, plush and stationaries whilst Scarlet went to a different lane. It's also a place to replenish what we have for the garden, so from bottles, to tools, we got it all from Mr. DIY."

Doug says "I went there to get all my electronic supplies, cables, things that I can fix my home. It's a place for home improvement, hobbyists, it has evolved into a store that has everything in it."

Mr. DIY now has 370 branches nationwide. Team Kramer will certainly add more value to what they have built over the years especially as a brand that has catered to the whole family. It's nice they waited for the perfect time to get people who are also trusted by millions of Filipinos here and around the globe. Congratulations to Team Kramer and Mr. DIY, can't wait to see you become even bigger in the next few years!

Green Tools From MIMI and ME

Sunday, September 16, 2018

Do you care about mother nature? Like how much? Can’t measure it? Have you done something solid to support that claim? Don’t worry, I’m not here to point fingers. Actually, I’m here to tell you about how you can help be in that zero waste state you’ve always wanted. It starts with the small things.

The Status

The Philippines is one of the top countries named as a source of plastics dumped in the oceans. This body of water is a source for food, a tool for tourism, you’ll be amazed how much flora and fauna we have - and being an archipelago we are pretty much in the middle of everything (dubbed as the center for biodiversity). It’s pretty sad to see our country contributed to the 14 Billion pounds of plastic that are being dumped in the ocean each year and a lot of sea creatures die from it (recent studies show 40% of sea turtles die). Now let me ask you another question, are you doing enough to prevent that from happening?

The Zero Waste Movement

Today there are tons of organizations and individuals who are campaigning for zero waste and live to tell about it. It’s basically a philosophy of using a material again so it won’t end up in incinerators or landfills. I met a young woman a few days ago at the co-working space ROOTS in Katipunan Avenue in Quezon City.

She’s Julia Camille Chiong, founder of Mimi and Me, a green tools company. This is her passion, she wanted to make others aware that there are products out there which can be environmentally friendly, little to less carbon footprint to make and still have the same quality of lifestyle using it.

She showed us a couple of things which we can use instead of the usual plastic wastes (like the ones you order from fastfood places, fork, spoons, the packaging too). These are things that are reusable and safe.

This reusable SPORK is so good for those always dining out. Imagine the spoons and forks you use from fast food places, now you can use this instead. It's handy as it folds in half so you can store it away after washing.

Reusable wipe cloth for removing your makeup, comes in 12s and very cheap. Just clean with soap and water afterwards.

The bamboo toothbrush comes in regular bristles or the one with activated charcoal.

This is the Bamboo Straw, it comes with the cleaning tool so you can spruce it up after use. Don't let it get molds, carry it around dry and use it again on your next drink.

Mimi and Me means her monicker (Mimi) and Mother Earth. This thing is inspiring, I actually am now opting for reusable things when I dine out. I don't even ask for straws and plastic spoon and forks anymore when ordering fast food. Now imagine how much a difference that would make if ALL OF US started to do the same. Makes sense?

These green tools from Mimi and Me are made by communities from Palawan, Rizal and nearby cities in Metro Manila. Even the packaging is sourced and made by organizations that help small scale industries in the Philippines including women empowered to do these odd jobs without leaving the comforts of their own home. Right now Julia is opting to have these sold online through partner sellers and at ROOTS in Katipunan Avenue (Right in front of Ateneo and the same building with Yellow Cab). They also are selling this through BeautyMNL, so if you need more information about their products go to their Facebook page via https://www.facebook.com/mandmgreentools/.

You should make an effort, you should do the deed before it's too late. These green tools can make you start somewhere so check out their channels if you wish to have one. I'll tell you about her sister too who is equally passionate about their business soon.

Erwan Heussaff and PHILIPS

Tuesday, August 11, 2015

We're in one of Erwan Heussaff's popular hangout's in Makati called The Red Light located at Felipe Street in the city's red light district. Erwan is a very well known businessman and blogger and authors the food, health and fitness blog callef The Fat Kid Inside.

We're paying homage today to one of Philips most advanced kitchen appliances and solutions, the Philips Air Fryer and Erwan showed us how to prepare healthy and delicious food at almost 80% less use of oil, which also means you get the same quality meal without compromising flavor.

Philips describes Erwan as Young Urban Pinoy and he's the perfect guy to represent Philips who can fit the lifestyle of today's young professionals. If you don't have a gas range, this would fit perfectly in your home because it's simple, and works so beautifully. It also cooks 1/3 less the time and Philips has Food Processors, Slow Juicers, Induction Cooker, Pressure Cooler and other things that could make your lives better at home.

He then prepared us dinner, a really good one at that.

Burratta and Greens - Creamy Burratta Cheese in a pocket on top of a crunchy crouton and some crisp white greens on top. This was an awesome appetizer.

Cold Corn Chowder with Shrimp cooked ala plantsa. The contrast between hot and cold plus the real corn, delish! Those greens on the side are actually from Bukidnon which Erwan says is something that he does, source local ingredients and get connected with farmers.

Chorizo, Romesco Sauce, Grilled Fishcakes, Toasted Quinoa - This is filling, but still light. I like it a lot. The Fishcake is made from Lapulapu, Shrimp and Tuna. He also used the Philips Air Fryer to cook it!

Now this was supposed to be Hanger Steak but I think he used Rib Eye instead. I love it a little rare so when he did this I was a little ecstatic! The puree is made of roasted pumpkin, potatoes and roasted peppers. The salsa verde made it taste fresh even if it's just a hint of it. Really good!

This is Banana and Guyabano Flambe with Coconut cream and caramel sauce. It's my first time seeing Guyabano be used in cooking so I was a bit weirded out, but it was really good. I'll definitely try this soon!

There are more things that you can do with Philips Home Appliances and this is just the beginning. Their flagship hero product is the Philips Air Fryer and it is leading in sales in the Philippines. They have made sure their research and development of these appliances don't go to waste by making sure the Filipino kitchen be filled with devices that would make life easy.

Erwan is planning to put up more restaurants soon, he's got 7 in total. He works out almost everyday, eats healthy but doesn't deprive himself of the good stuff. He even told us he's okay with lard, that's flavor so you can tell.

Thank you so much to Philips, thank you also Erwan for gamingly answering our questions that evening. We had fun!
