#SmartSpots ARCA Yard Valenzuela

Friday, June 09, 2017

I finished my Computer Engineering course at the University of the East Caloocan Campus and I had the privilege of making tons of friends during those years way up north. I live about an hour away from school and I've been missing a lot of happenings with friends because I live too far. I didn't know they had tons of food joints and establishments put up in that part of Valenzuela City already. My friend invited me to go to ARCA YARD in Valenzuela City located a block away from the district of Karuhatan, a small town where most of my classmates lived during those school years. I braved the traffic and journeyed there, I arrived a little over an hour and a half as traffic was really horrible in the turn bound to the North Expressway in Balintawak.

ARCA YARD is owned by a couple who believed they needed to help their friends and other people who are doing their first time food ventures.

It's like a complex of food establishments who present a variety of viands and beer matched snacks while still keeping it family friendly. I like how they kept it so nice and welcoming despite the fact that these structures are pretty much made of ship containers built for product transport which they stacked and weld together.

I was there too for Smart as they were also launching #SmartSpots. They put up SMART's great WIFI connection for FREE as they have done this already in similar food parks in Pasig and Makati. This is part of Smart Communication's promise of bringing internet connection closer to home.

During the party, all the owners of the restaurants abd establishments at ARCA YARD welcomed the development and service that Smart is providing. Smart's Gabby Cui laments how it was easy for them to convince ARCA YARD's owners as they both see this partnership beneficial to their patrons, and for them to also experience how it's like to be connected with the BIGGEST network.

Here's what he said during the event and also some snippets of Paulo Santos' performances on video:

The place was always packed and business has always been good because it has been frequented by locals, some from nearby cities and even celebrities.

Connecting to Smart's wifi network was east too. Just open your phones wifi, connect to the network, input your phone number and you'll receive a code. Put this code on the prompt when you connect and it will tell you how much time you have left in this wifi's blazing speeds. Aside from that, you can also get tons of discounts from the actual establishments of ARCA YARD. So I tried the best thing which is 7XABKEBAB. It's a kebab place owned by a young couple who just ventured into the food business.

The concept is simple but they have localized this special middle eastern favorite. The difference is that they pan fry the meat instead of let it all hang out in a roaster so you don't get that forced charred flavor. You'll experience how the good, sweet and savory meat is supposed to be.

I got two dishes, one is the Beef Xhawarma Rice. Don't be intimidated about how they spell things because as expensive looking as this may seem, this is actually dirt cheap, I won't find anything of this price point in QC. Oh and do you see that BUTTER over the rice? Haha.. I guess I don't have to convince you right?

The Beef Xhawarma with Pita is equally nice for non rice eaters like me (sometimes that is). The Spicy Yogurt Garlic sauce was thick, it won't be that messy. It was served hot and on my table, you don't have to wait in front of the shack. I loved it every bit!

Now how can you beat something good up north? With the lovely food, tons of booze, the flashy place and blazing speeds of the wifi, ARCA YARD could well be your favorite #SmartSpots when in Valenzuela City. I mean how in the world could I have uploaded 5 videos while munching on the food and downing a bottle of beer right? Make sure you visit ARCA YARD today!

Charee Pineda's Surprise Birthday Party

Wednesday, September 24, 2014

We traveled all the way to Valenzuela City Hall up north to find Charee Pineda. She's a recent addition to GMA's stable last year as she came from the other channel. What we didn't know was how busy she is these past few years, not just with shooting shows but also serving the people of the 2nd District of Valenzuela. She's a Councilor, and she's well loved by her peers, the Mayor and her constituents. So when they planned to do a surprise party, they did it in style! They had a workshop and leadership training seminar that morning for the scholars under her office. It was also facilitated by World Youth Alliance which is an NGO that she also helps. She thought that she was going to be interviewed about it only with one camera crew but was shocked when she came inside the venue. Surprised as she was, she cried because she didn't know it was going to be her birthday celebration that was going to happen that afternoon. GMA Artist Center, prepared everything including some goodies that they gave away to the youth of Valenzuela City.

Charee here with the representative from World Youth Alliance, wishing her happy birthday.
Mayor Rex Gatchalian of Valenzuela City and Charee's co councilors were also there to celebrate with her.

She was so happy because she didn't expect anything on this day but a simple dinner with family. Celebrating it with the people who care for her meant a lot to Charee and she says "I'm a crybaby even if I'm watching TV I cry a lot. I didn't expect this and I was really touched by this gesture. My staff didn't give me any clues. My scholars, the Mayor, it just feels so good to belong with the best people just to surprise me. I was supposed to go to Manaoag but I begged off because of the traffic and only planned to be with family later. I miss showbiz and miss shooting. Hopefully soon I would be able to work in a soap, time management, I hope GMA Artist Center takes care of that even if I'm still in school and with Valenzuela. My love life is so good and it's nice because he's not from showbiz. He's from Valenzuela and he also grew up here so he understands what I do. I want to be a councilor again, it's my first term but I want to learn a lot so that once I get to be in a higher position I would be well equipped. It's the same reason why I'm taking up Political Science. I wish that I could take time and get to appreciate everything that I have right now".

Special Day For Special Kids With Kris Bernal

Saturday, May 17, 2014

The last time I was with Kris Bernal was in the Girls Town which was in far flung location in Marikina City. It's a place for abandoned girls where they get to study and be productive there. She always had a good heart and says she always goes back to that place whenever she has free time. She also takes time off from her hectic schedules and spends that with them.

Last May 14, she went to a different place and says this was quite special for her. She visited General T. De Leon Elementary School in Karuhatan, Valenzuela City. This is one of the only few public schools that have a dedicated SPED department in Metro Manila so a lot of special children with special needs go here. Together with the City Government of Valenzuela, the Krispers (Kris Bernal's official Fan Club) and her sponsors, they went out of the confines of the GMA building and went all the way north to be with these kids.
