Cleanse, Detoxify, Rejuvenate, and Balance with My Spa Diet!

Saturday, September 10, 2011

For most of us BIG people there are several things that we don't attempt to do. One, because we would probably feel humiliated and two, we already know why. On this day however I was surprised to be asked to do it, but I gave it a go so I can do something about it. It's one of those nightmares that you try and fight for. You know what it is?!

Tadaaaa! :) I got my weight measured! Haha!

Just like me thousands of Filipinos are actually overweight and living a healthy life is really not one of their priorities because they are either too busy because of work or too lazy to work out and have a proper diet. We are not alone, even Ms. Cheshire Que - a spa diet expert, RND, RD, RN went through the same dilemma. On this day, she reveals a program that helped her overcome this and calls it My Spa Diet.

Lose weight, Rejuvenate with MySpaDiet.com

She started by telling us an anecdote about her folks, their current state and how she got heredity, history play in getting that condition. Just like them, everybody's got a weight gain story. Weight management is such a hard thing to achieve if you don't know what you are doing. She however also had hormone problems because of her thyroid condition. She made a point that a high fat high sodium low fiber diet exists all around us. Technology has also made us all lazy and gain weight because of the lack of physical activity. In this sense, "Lifestyle modification" is essential and there are three things to do in order to accomplish this. Fixing our Diet, exercise and behavior. That is where myspadiet.com comes in.

We got out BMI measured and she took the time explaining to us what the numbers mean. I was particularly surprised about how big my numbers were since it'll be a basis for what will cause heart problems and diabetes in the future.

If you go to the site it highlights the essential tools of the myspadiet program she designed. Week one is cleanse, two is detoxify, three is rejuvenate and four balance. The phases need you to do the following: High fiber and water, no red meat and processed food, featured fruits and vegetable everyday, all foods allowed but in moderation.

It caters to men and women; they ask you for your daily physical activity and give you an image of your food allowance. They have it represented in numbers and you shouldn't eat beyond six hours so you wont starve. It is all about meal timing. If you prefer a different diet then you can always substitute just as long as it satisfies your numbers. The menu plans in the site has varieties and you can see practical comparisons with real life things so you can measure whatever you eat with something usual. It is very important to eat something ALWAYS in moderation. You need to also move a lot, exercise and do something active. There are studies in Japan that if you do exercise and do something all in 30 mins, that would account to more in a week and would be beneficial for your health. It also depends on the intensity so make sure you do work out with that in mind. We need to make sure we replenish with water right after so we don't dry up and age because of lack of hydration. The fourth week would get your food intake to a disciplined mode but you must make sure you get everything in tolerable portions and do not eat mindlessly. That's where most people fail and perform a yoyo diet.

Behavior change is essential and you need guidance from experts which is also available on the site. Lifestyle is a modification is a process and need something that would also motivate the mind. If you are not disciplined and motivated to do these things, that causes it to fail.

So the next time you go out and buy something in the grocery, include something that is from the fresh produce department. The site also suggests and recommends a list that you can take along when you buy something. It's a good thing... make sure you visit the site myspadiet.com.

Easy Pha-Max

Grace of Easy Pha-Max gave a small info about wheat grass and its benefits. People in the US specially those in LA have been eating this since time and memorial and with its availability in Malaysia; it now comes to the Philippines. This is essential to cleansing and alkalinity which is one f the goals of myspadiet.com for the first and second week. This should be taken cold and we were also advised to shake it well since it has to have the nutrients also mixed in. They only use the grass but not the roots. Although the anti aging and cancer preventing minerals are in the roots it has the essentials already in the drink. It is also recommended to be taken daily for detoxifying and if we have a lot of unhealthy food eaten this is a must. It helps in cleaning the colon and prevents chronic constipation. Did you know that we have to go to the comfort room twice a day to actually keep it healthy? I'm sure most if you only do it once so don't lie haha :)

It's for thorough cleansing. You and I know that we need it! You know what to do! :)

Goldilocks Pagbabago Awards Night

Monday, October 25, 2010

It's time for an update on what I have been doing this week. I was able to attend another Nuffnang PH event, this is the Goldilocks Pagbabago Awards night. Goldilocks has chosen 3 bloggers among hundreds of entries that made articles about the word "Pagbabago" and means to the ordinary Filipino. I did send an entry but of course who would think I'd win (when there were geniuses in the roster!) and big time bloggers listed there! =P Anyway I did have a nice time and enjoyed the food that was served in the event. Arriving at the venue, they immediately gave us DYC (Decorate Your Cake) kits so we'd make our own little versions of the cake Goldilocks has been known with. I attempted to do with the materials that was provided and I think I did do justice, take a look at this pink cow! LOL

Pink cow, pink kumagcow, pink Nuffnang and a pink G logo on top. I still didn't win though! LOL

It was ok that I didn't win that part I was looking forward to seeing who won the ITouch, Ipod and IPAD but none of them really landed on my portion of Earth. I was okay still because I didn't expect much from my work or the change that much have occurred in my life. In someway I think I'm boring but that's another story. I was enjoying the company of my seatmates though. I've seen their blogs too so it was a nice day to see them in the flesh!

Plus take a look at what Goldilocks served us for dinner!

Barbecue skewers, Fresh Lumpia, Sotanghon Guisado, Native Laing and chocolates. See the drink? That ALMOND LYCHEE POPZ is to die for. I'm not just saying that because I got it for free... dude you gotta feel those bits pop on your mouth and get transported to a fresher version of Shangrila! It is so good I had to go to another store just to get one the next day!

The winners were announced and it was Yoshke, Vivian and a pretty well known blogger KCAT who was pronounced to have the biggest change in their life! I must have been under a rock or something when change was in season but I never did regret going there. The people from Goldilocks Marketing were nice, a celebrity was there and there were lots of bloggers everywhere! I had a blast that night and I'm looking forward to more Nuffnang and Goldilocks events in the future!

I may have not have had the biggest change but I was happy for the winners. They really deserve it! I may have never won any gadget that night but I gained some friends in the process. Again, thank you Goldilocks and thank you Nuffnang Philippines!

"Pagbabago"

Monday, August 30, 2010

My family is my priority; and I can say that out loud without hesitation. I have a lot of things in mind right now - dating, getting married, going out, time for gym, rest, work and career advancement; but I guess that's quite normal for a single guy's life. Sometimes I even want to regret being a "bachelor" and get depressed (not that I want to get married soon! XD ) but I am SOOOO enjoying my life more without worrying about that. Life is good... and I've got a better understanding of how it works now.

When I get off the office, I usually stop by the mall and check out what I can buy. It's just usually the essentials but what I always think about is what I could bring my folks. I usually skip breakfast (and hope you believe me every now and then LOL) but it is one of the most important things I have to do everyday. I get to talk to my Mom and Dad while having my favorite cup of tea (Earl Grey, Mint or Chamomile). When I do these conversations in the past, I'd probably just end up doing tantrums and fight my way out of the room. It would really upset them whenever this happens. These days I kinda lost that rebellious fervor and got tuned up. We talk about anything under the sun now from politics, religion, current events and sometimes relatives who ask favors. I don't get that irked now since I think I have a say in everything that we talk about. Maybe because I bribed them with these...

Dad also gets first bite after opening the package!

Oh and did you notice something different with it?
The packaging and logo of Goldilocks just got vamped up!

It's the same taste we Filipinos have always loved in its 44 years of existence. I never knew it has been that long! So awesome! The Butter Puto has never been better! These are the days when I wished Dinuguan would be served in breakfast, that would have been a pair made in heaven! Mmmmm!

With the gustatory events unfolding one by one, I kept some of the food I bought for the rest of the day. After a few more rounds of conversation with Mom and Dad, I took a shower and hurriedly got to sleep. I rested with a smile on my face eagerly awaiting my Sister to wake up! Obviously, we have different shifts.

The afternoon was grand!
Hours after I slept; someone was already shouting in the kitchen.
I knew my Sister found it!

The cake I bought her was Dulce De Leche!
How can I go wrong with butter cream icing and caramel oozing all throughout the roll.

Did you know we used to fight over who gets the "ends" of it because it had the most icing?! LOL That was really a funny thing to remember together with the small food fights and smearing that happened a few years back. We definitely did not outgrew it (I won't let that happen!) but I guess we got a little toned down when people are around. It was sweet revenge when you can get that on her face or clothes too! (She was on her way to work!) Ha-ha! But we really still love it, I bought another one the day after.

DSC_0124
Swirls of icing and caramel all in one.
How in the world can you go wrong with that!?

After watching the evening news and small chats in between, Mom prepared dinner since I was going back to work. When I was a kid, 6PM was like Martial Law when everyone outside the house should go back and prepare for dinner. We were not allowed to go beyond that otherwise you would see someone getting locked out for a few minutes! (Ha-ha I remember!) These days when I go out I usually get back home at 6PM too, the next day that is! Ha-ha! Sometimes Mom and Dad still worries too but I think they already got used to it. I think they know what I do in the weekends since I often end up in bars and clubs in Fort or QC. I don't drink that much but I think that's because I hate hangovers more than the ill benefits of it. I just act drunk if needed LOL! But most of the weekends I spend at home I do spend quality time with them. I even bought them their favorite!

DSC_0131
It's not too sweet! It's just right! It's got that tangy - sweet, refreshing fruity flavor and custard that you really love!

DSC_0136
Mom and Dad's favorite is the famous Crema De Fruta.

It's that custard filled layered sponge cake topped with peaches and cherries. The perfect dessert to end a meal. I got 2 servings of it in one sitting so just imagine how good this is! It's not heavy on the belly and wouldn't get you "fed up aka UMAY" to say the least. I love how it gets my Mom and Dad to smile. That's the only thing you ask for in a meal, you get to see people happy, cherishing and sharing what they have. Pretty small things, but this is SO MUCH of a big deal for me! and that's what makes me happy!

3first

I was skeptic... I was Crazy... Til I tasted it....

3nd

It was so nice... It explodes in your mouth... It's pure bliss!

Aside from the pleasures in life that had continually improved. I guess it is a very far cry from what we have been doing in the past. If there is one thing that I have truly learned, change is inevitable. Our relationships, our love, the things we do for family and our priorities in one point or another will be different. I'm no better than any of you guys; but I'm willing to improve myself and everything that I am so I can take care of those who I love better. We sometimes need to surrender everything to fate and be glad of who we will become. We're going to be more matured, more responsible individuals. Let's just make everything worthwhile; and the people from this world feel a little better than when we first found it. It maybe something simple as puto, a slice of cake, or a piece of fruit; but the happiness it can radiate to your loved ones is priceless. Let's all start being what we want to see in this world! That's all what PAGBABAGO means to me!
