Halloween Preparations!

Saturday, September 11, 2010

It's that time of the year again where we prepare to celebrate one of the greatest occasions where we can dress up. I still have my Star Wars costume with me plus the sword that comes with that. I want to get the best dressed award and the prize too. There are several parties to go to in the metro for that and with my friends tagging along, those last few days in October is surely going to be a hit! I seldom dress up and I don't want to be a kill joy so this year I am going to complete that wardrobe and get my self Halloween Contact Lenses . This is the time to make something wild. It would be something definitely out of the ordinary. I know my friends will join too but they don't have experience wearing contacts. I might need to teach them a thing or two.

It actually completes the look. It is much like those in Edward and Bella's vampire movie. I probably won't look like a real vampire without it. Some would probably wear that red eyes that the VOLTURI has but maybe it will just temporarily blur them when it's almost pitch dark in the clubs I go to ha-ha! The greatest dressed then could be me but then again I haven't seen the rest of the guys if they are preparing for it too. Who's up for an early Halloween celebration?!

Looking Cool, Looking Good!

Saturday, February 27, 2010

I am currently contemplating on getting myself contact lenses. The deal is I do not really need it but I just wanted to get a little more HISPANIC looking and I need a light brown shade. I might need to also get my hair color changed but when I saw this image of John Lennon, I think I'll get myself eyeglasses instead. I need a change of look since I am somewhat in the fashion industry. I need to look decent when I go out otherwise nobody's going to notice me. I have a little theory that this may make me a little smart (which I am) and I am a little torn to get designer lens or contact lenses. Eyeglasses are a little expensive here but there are on line stores that offer it a little cheaper than usual.

It costs thousands of pesos but if you check out the ones on line they have great eyeglasses even for $8 and it would not hurt my budget. I wish malls have them too. It would be pretty hard for ordinary people to get prescription eyeglasses if it costs too much. I can afford expensive ones but it is not practical. I would gladly submit because this is a guy's fashion statement but who in the world is going to spend thousands for that!? I am glad there are on line stores like ZENNI who understands consumers like me. At least we have options when times like these come! Hey I just want to look good!

You Have to See Things Clearly

Tuesday, June 09, 2009

I was window shopping a few days ago and chanced upon an optical shop in the mall. They had various colors of contact lenses available and I wonder if it was safe to wear even if I did not have eye problems. In the Philippines, it was almost a norm to see young men and women to wear it for fashion. The deal is, they don't really know some of the dangers in wearing it. Predominantly, Filipinos only have black or brown eyes and going beyond that is unique. This is the biggest selling point of most optical shops, but here's a story.

Sexy local film and TV personality MAUREEN LARAZZABAL went out with her friends wearing her best evening clothes and green contact lenses to accent her look. She spends quite a fortune for it and in 25 years, it would have cost her roughly around $20,000. This is quite a big amount because a single US dollar equals 47 Philippine Pesos in this side of the world. Tired and weary from her travel and shows, she forgot to take them off and slept throughout the night. When she woke up, she felt terrible pain and could not even open her eyes anymore. She was rushed to the hospital and doctors found out she was already suffering internal bleeding because of the contact lenses. She almost lost her sight on both eyes. They were able to save her but needed to rest for a few months and she was not able to work during this time. A lot of people were worried for her safety and realize that fashion is not going to be on top of a person's health. We all should know how to wear contact lenses properly or else, we will lose our eyesight.

As expensive as she might have spent for the lenses, she was still not safe. In this time where money is pretty hard to find, we should find ways to live within our means. There are procedures nowadays that can do better things for our eyesight. LASIK has been part of a huge eye health revolution when it was patented in 1989. Thousands have benefited from this and there are new developments in LASIK surgery. Today, the iLASIK procedure only takes minutes and the cost has dramatically gone down over the years. There are computers that can literally generate blueprints so that each cornea reshaped would be perfectly done. The technology has gone advanced that a friend of mine who has tried the procedure even went home the same day. I hope people get educated and be given sufficient information so nobody would suffer the same fate as Maureen did. Get those eyes fixed instead of resorting to temporary solutions that could further damage your eyes. We all deserve better!
