Commuters’ Group Will Stop Fare hike petition

Sunday, April 26, 2009

Amidst the chaos and political mess we are in right now, transport groups are planning an added fare hike when the prices of diesel fuel does not stop rising.

However, a commuters’ group is going to stop this petition for added prince in jeepneys. I know I don't ride jeeps that much but if that does push through who would stop taxi fares to do the same right?

This was said by a certain Elvira Medina, who is the current President of the National Council for Commuters Protection, after the transport group called Pasang-Masda gave their fillers to ask LTFRB about asking the original 7.50 for the minimum jeepney fare.

Medina said, they only are after the protection of the riding public.

In this event, Pasang-Masda President Obet Martin said they will push for the fare hike petition if the prices of diesel go through the 29 peso mark.

Fare rate cuts will take effect on Monday

Friday, February 20, 2009

The public has been notified about the 50 centavo fare rate cut that will take effect on Monday. Commuters that take Jeepney rides around the metro will surely enjoy this perk that the transport groups and government worked on because of the diesel prices falling in the world market.

It has been a few months of price decrease in Diesel prices so it is rightful to do this. The ordinary consumer that normally pays 7.50 in a few kilometers will get their money's worth. This will also be taking effect in 2 other regions in Luzon because it includes regions 3 and 4.I hope it continues to go down until 75 centavos. Yeah, I remember that did happen once.

Aren't you glad?

Rollback 50 Cents or More in Fare

Friday, February 13, 2009

A huge Jeepney Group in Metro Manila is set to rollback 50 centavos off their fare according to LTFRB. They also will meet with the agency on Monday.

Efren de Luna of the Alliance of Concerned Transport Operators (ACTO) said that they are ready to implement the 50 centavo rollback and their members are also rooting for this too. This is due to the low average of prices on diesel that ranges from 25 to 27 pesos per liter.

De Luna said that they are all for the 'provisional reduction' if Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) approves this deal.

The group also mentioned that this fare rollback is an early valentines gift for their passengers. Valentines Day is a big day for Filipinos and they celebrate it bigger than the Americans do. Pasang-Masda another local group says that its ready to cut off their rates if the diesel prices average 26 pesos per liter of diesel in all gasoline stations. He added that not all gasoline stations implemented less prices for diesel fuel. LTFRB Chairman Alberto Suansing on the other hand said they will meet with bus and jeepney operators on Monday February 16 if it is possible for them to have the rollback be bigger.
