Easy Search an Easy Read

Thursday, May 27, 2010

I am a self confessed bookworm and I have been reading since I was 3 or 4. I was into heavy literary work when I was a kid and I must say it had something to do with my interest of going out; and I couldn't do that because my Mom used to tie me to a tree back then LOL. My penmanship also suffered because I must say I felt everything was forced to me rather than being enjoyed just like reading. Thank the heavens for great EBOOKS that I always read every chance that I have free time. It's great for my KINDLE and that IPAD that I plan to buy soon. There are also wonderful pdf search engine sites you can go to and view the latest titles you can download for free (if available). I love how technology had made everything easy. I am free and I feel so liberated every instance I finish reading a novel. I must say it has given me more than just simple pieces to read; it has given me the benefits of expanding my territory virtually. It made me more of a wide reader than I was back in the 80's.

I have used the PDF file format for my documents too so people from different parts of the globe can read the manuals and forms I make so transactions from the corporation I work for and other multinational companies easily transact business. I love how easy it would be to find them now on the Internet since there are specialized search engines for this file format. It would save me a lot of time and money and in times like these; a dollar worth of savings is monumental. I like it!

Oh My! Duplicate File!

Tuesday, February 02, 2010

I just finished editing photos this morning and now it looks like a huge mess on my computer. I almost lost my sets a couple of hours ago because the files I saved are located in different folders. With hundreds of files having the same name I know for a fact that there are one or more duplicate file on hand. You cannot simply discount that because I keep them on the default names most of the time. I need to delete them because I really need the hard drive space. That is where it gets complicated since you cannot view all the thumb nails one by one to compare which ones are edited and those which are not. I have uploaded most of them in social networks and I am glad both the models and my friends appreciate it.

It means so much to me to hear people appreciate my work. I spent hours working on one or two photos depending on the effect I would like to have on it. Organization is a must and I have actually amassed around 40 photo shoots already. Each one on different folders and some of them are already archived. If there was one thing I should improve on now, it would be taking care of the raw files. I have lots of photos already out in the public and making sure my copyright is included on the meta data I would have to embed this one by one. Thank heavens there are things I can use to be able to do that. Otherwise I would have made a mess again and start all over! I hope you like my shots too.

Outlook Nightmare

Tuesday, February 10, 2009

I've been using Microsoft Outlook 2002 in our office since that is the only email client allowed on our company computers. Together with the slow booting Windows 2000, it was a normal day in the office... that's what I thought. This is the first thing that I do once I sit down and concentrate on office work. I checked my mails thinking it was just the usual things I'm going to do that night, but I was wrong. Opening up my computer prompted already an error that the connecting to the mail server timed out. Then another unusual error that related to some rules I made on filters and that just let me press the x button on it. It automatically opened my inbox then I was wondering why I was only looking at 7 new emails. OMG! Wait! Where are the rest of my emails? I know I had about 200MB worth of emails the last time I checked. That was the last time I saw it, now its all gone.

I'm looking at a bare screen where none of my important office emails, personal mails, files, and bills is showing up. I frantically ran to our Management Systems Information Department and asked people there who can recover my files but when they checked their servers, they didn't see a thing too. Everything was gone and the logs indicated that I deleted it, but that did not happen obviously. I don't know if it was a glitch or a system error but I was mad. They were not ably to retrieve anything. I don't backup my files on my computer because that was sort of temporary and the same department deletes them regularly. Now I don't have anything but the ones I still have in my Sent Items Folder. I lost my electronic receipts and transaction records that I had in my other folders too. Four long years of documents are lost in just one click. It's just not a good day for me. I know I'll cry this out later on. See how painful it is for not backing up files? Imagine that! Online Backups would have been more convenient. Kill me now because my life expectancy just shortened 10 more years.
