Mom Should Get Me Awnings!
Sunday, October 17, 2010
You guys probably know that I'm trying to build a refuge in the south. Part of that plan is to also get some furniture and pieces that I'd enjoy with my family. I wanted something rustic and very natural looking so the wood work is going to be a little hard. I forgot something though aside from the swing I wanted to get for the porch; I should have had awnings attached to the roof since the rain isn't a joke around here. That might just spoil the wood so I need to get one for it. The deal is I don't have that much choice in this side of the world so I'd probably get ones on line. Here we go again with my retail therapy ha-ha!
This is pretty much a necessity so I can take care of the ones I bought. Imagine what it would be like if torrential rain and sun always hit them, that would really spell another shelling out of money if I don't take care of them right? I have to make sure I make my investment work for me and my family because after all I worked for it! I want to still be shaded from harsh rays while sitting on that swing + porch reading my very first novel. I know! I should have been writer somewhere in my life. This is going to be another one of those reality shows put on paper. I've got to find them now... some stores like HILLARYS have them (*hint*) and Mom would be the perfect candidate to donate that to me! That's just about sounds right! I hope Mom agrees!
My House in the South
Thursday, September 23, 2010
I'm thinking of new things to add to our home in the south. If all things push through my brother would have the house complete and get it done before the year ends. That is just an ambitious estimate so I'm going to give myself around the first quarter of this year to get that fixed. After that we would need to get some key pieces bought but I have a special need for western furniture. I like how natural looking wood gets inserted in a theme I was thinking for the space. I am not a professional interior designer or architect but I have aesthetics in the mix somewhere. I want to show you guys a few of my favorites... it coincides with the theme I have in mind!
I want this piece outside my picket fence inspired porch. It is somewhat a rustic/country feel obviously that I want to happen. I love how natural it looks like and the wood used is finished greatly. I don't want a metal one because that would probably end up more industrial or futuristic. I want to get lots of pillows and a larger throw on top of that. Maybe a little orange or terracotta which hints more of a Hispanic/Mexican feel. I can probably add a few dried chilis and hang them around as garlands or art deco. I think I'm inspired! I want this to be a place of refuge in the late afternoon so I could get lemonade or something similar for refreshments. I need a place to put that though. Ah! I need a side table!
If I place this quite near that and make sure it doesn't block the smooth swing it induces this would be perfect! The woodsy look is actually continued and this one has that perfect height. I also need to think about what I'll have in the interior and make sure that it is also comfortable.
I won't stop myself from purchasing an LCD TV and would like to see if this set would actually fit. The lounge chair would be a necessity for me and my Dad. I want to still have a comfortable place to watch movies if I'm not in the mood to roam around the heavily forested area which this will all be located. I don't have to worry about cleaning too because Mom is going to get covers for them all if we're not around. Nice choices huh?!
How about you?! Have you considered getting these types of furniture?! Or would you buy something else? Tell me about it alright?!

We've got a lot to thank for!

The house is a little messy today. I got rid of my old clothes. I sorted out some of the old things I have in my room because I admitted halfheartedly that I'm a little clutter freak. I bade goodbye to my old ways and made sure I get more things done at home. Since this purging is getting a little playtime in my day off, I decided to do something about my cabinets and storage. Modern Furniture these days don't need to be just plain Jane. There are a lot of options out there and you just need to have some patience to get the perfect one for your place. Who doesn't want to have their house to look good right?!
I live a simple life; but that does not mean I have to stay and watch myself live with antiques in this lifetime. Sometimes it makes me wonder how long I have been doing that. I think a change of look every now and then would perk me up a bit. It feels gloomy at days and I don't even go out that much. I need to enjoy home as much when I did as a kid. Everything seemed so surreal then. I'm sure pretty soon I'll feel that way again!
It's everybody's dream. Perfection is a goal; but we all know how hard life is. If it treats us right after work then it's good; because we can see the fruits of our labor. Then we'll realize that we really have a lot to thank for!
