Ashley Ortega and Khalil Ramos Talk About Professionalism On Screen and Real Relationships

 

It's been a while since we talked to Khalil Ramos and Ashley Ortega. I interviewed them in different projects and yes, it's high time they get together in a project, and in this instance, it's Cinemalaya. Their entry this year is called "As If It's True", directed by John Rogers under the great folks of The IdeaFirst Company.

It's much of a Gen Z story where social media, content creation, influencer marketing is the name of the game. A relationship brews between Gemma Watson and James (a struggling musician). As Khalil mentions, it discusses relationships  and those that can be shown as real, or happening just for clout and exploitation.

This is certainly exciting for Ashley Ortega's career as she just came off the highly successful series "Hearts on Ice" which she did with Xian Lim. Though she feels a lot of pressure to do better, she's optimistic to do a project with Khalil since Gabbi and Ashley pretty much started in showbiz at the same time. They've been friends for a while which she feels would be advantageous for the things they would need to do in the film. There will be some sort of a romantic flick ingredient here ala "American Pie" but it'll be different, a little depressing at situations; quite different and will be in a Filipino setting. Khalil will also be starring in "Tick Tick Boom" under 9 Works Theatrical Production. This is his debut in theatre, and has been a learning experience for him because things are being done differently. He was matched with the role of Jon because of his very artistic vibe. Show happens August 5-27 at the Carlos P. Romulo Auditorium - RCBC Theater. 

These are just some of the awesome achievements of Sparkle artists Khalil and Ashley, but I'm sure there will be more. If you already enjoyed their previous shows, movies and projects, it'll be a good thing to consume this new movie and theatre project from the two. I'm quite optimistic about what's happening with Ashley since this is pretty much, her second serving of a lead role. Khalil on the other hand has also been very busy with projects (and really thankful for it). When I asked about getting some negative opinions online, he also hopes his situation with Gabbi would be a good measure of what should happen when an actor has a real relationship while being paired with other actors on screen. Strictly professional.

Why Do People Love Rocco Nacino?

It’s a tough question, but let me try and answer this one for you.

For starters, Rocco and I have common friends, it’s a small world but it wasn’t up until I got to cover events in GMA that I’ve had the opportunity to actually talk to him.

I’m no stranger to the people from the network but it was actually rare for me to know artists from this channel on a personal level, let alone to meet his family on some instances. So when I do I try to write something a little more personal and whip out something that would rather better describe the guy adored by thousands of people here and around the world.

I’ve tried to look up the first time I had an interview with him, prolly around early 2010 if I’m not mistaken. He was a bit reserved, but you could already see how much star factor he had early on right after winning 2nd Prince on the reality show they were in the 5th season of Starstruck. Even then, he struck quite a number of shows and continued on to have an illustrious career in GMA. In a way, he worked his way to be one of the network’s prime leading men opposite some of the industry’s best. I remember, I’ve always been trying so hard to take photos of him during Bench shows because I felt it was my way of saying thanks because he was really so nice to me everytime we meet. I felt like what a friend would be, he was really nice and always have been cool, very cordial, and I don’t feel that way with some huge stars. He’s that kind of a person and for me that’s not quite common. Until now, I treasure that, no matter how assuming or corny that sounds.

Rocco recently celebrated his birthday at his restaurant Rufo’s in Timog Avenue in Quezon City. Thank you to Bench and his sponsors for supporting such a noble cause!

His mom told us that it’s been a tradition in their family to actually do something worthwhile when their birthday comes because they teach their kids the value of the good life they have even at an early age. When Rocco wasn’t even in showbusiness back then, they held charity events, give Christmas gifts for the less fortunate which I think has made them humble even now that he is very successful. Tita Linda Nacino, Rocco’s Mom is also a Cancer survivor. They know how hard it is to actually get treatment, or have the things you need to survive if you had this condition, so they arranged this Blood Letting program during his birthday celebration last week. Rocco is a registered nurse, also just recently passed his Masters with Cumlaude honors (to his folks delight) so he knew it was the opportune time to help the pediatric patients at Bahay Aruga (a charity he’s been helping) and also the PGH Pedia Oncology Ward who they have also helped in the past.

Now who in the right mind wouldn’t love a guy that excels in just about anything that he’s in? He’s an all around athlete, a model, a nurse, an actor, a businessman, a good brother to Kyle, a very good son, if you would allow me to continue we’ll spend half a day with his accomplishments and it’ll never be enough, he’s remained so humble after all these years, he’s never even gotten all the stardom get into his head and is one of the most eligible bachelors in the country. So to answer that question I stated earlier and the qualities I mentioned, why even ask?

He’s a good man, period.

Happy birthday Rocco, I only wish you stay blessed and continue the good things you do. I hope you get to wear the thing I gave you! :)

Enchong Dee, Erich Gonzales and JC De Vera for "Once A Princess"

Drama. This film stars Enchong Dee, Erich Gonzales and JC De Vera.

Now I don't know how to start this post without sounding like a fan, because I am. I love Erich Gonzales and Enchong Dee. Their pair has been a formidable formula of success in countless movies and TV program on Star Cinema and ABSCBN. It's about time that they'll have another one, but this will be under Skylight Films and Regal Films. As you may know the past movies of  Skylight Films have been very successful on the box office but it has only tackled romcoms, comedy, horror but not drama yet. So that's what they did according to Enrico Santos, this is a gamble but he's sure the tandem will still work like clockwork.

One of the few celebrities that I know that still is so kind and down to earth is Erich Gonzales. It's no wonder that she's been so blessed these past few years while still looking absolutely beautiful. She's also running restaurants and enjoying a very successful non showbiz relationship with his current boyfriend. Still, if you would see Erich and Enchong together... you'll feel how much they should have been meant for each other. Not that I'm insinuating anything but just like much of the fans of these two, I would have loved to have seen them having a relationship.
