Worry Free Holiday Dinners from Chef Laudico GUEVARRA’S

Monday, December 16, 2019

I know this holiday season is getting you all crazy. Everyone is just in panic mode because you haven’t done your groceries, you haven’t gone over or done your Christmas shopping, and oh... you haven’t prepared your menu yet for Christmas eve Noche Buena and Media Noche for New Year. I’m here to tell you about a fix for that, because no other than Chef Rolando Laudico and  Chef Jac Laudico is whipping out their favorites for your Christmas feast!

Only Guevarra’s has been able to put a lot of effort on Filipino food done the right way. Ones that are au naturelle, strictly enforcing no MSG to food, making everything from scratch with only the best ingredients. I have had the opportunity of experiencing that during my birthday weekend as I had a lot of people at home. I didn’t want to tire mom as she’s been working hard these past few days putting up our Christmas Tree and ornaments so our home looks ready. How can you not love this scrumptious, Pork Bellychon.

This came to my house fresh, piping hot from the oven, all still crispy and yes, it’s made of dreams! It’s got the right amount of spice, hints of lemon grass and definitely not salty. The Lechon Sauce was sent on a separate tray which I prepped on separate bowls so everyone on the table would have a share. I put in a few teaspoons full of chili because I like it spicy! I sliced off the meat, it was already all boneless so I didn’t need to do so much. All you have to do is out white rice on a plate and serve! They know how to do lechon, and this one had crispy candy like skin, plus flavorful meat that permeated all throughout the length of the pork. If I could only have this everyday and not get wide, I would gladly do so! Oh and the rest of the lechon became good Lechon Paksiw made by my Mom the next day! (Make sure you consume this as soon as it gets to your home, you wouldn’t want cold lechon right?!)

A birthday wouldn’t be complete without cake. I am quite simple to please and yes, my favorite flavor is mocha. Their version is not overly sweet which I adore! I am trying to cut down on sugar so these days when I can, I can’t let a slice pass! I hurriedly put this on a cake display and had it for dessert. The mocha buttercream made me close my eyes a few times, I love you Chef Jac! Hehe! I have fed a little over 8 people and still had more food the next day. We didn’t even have to cook, we just ordered it off Chef Laudico Guevarra’s, and it became Handaan Kahit Saan!

Now it’s your turn to make your lunch, dinners all hassle free. Time your deliveries in parties so you get it fresh, hot and fast. Mom had a grand time without worrying much about the menu because everything in Guevarra’s have always been so good! They also have Beef Kaldereta, Kare Kare, Roasted Chicken Sinampalukan, Party Spaghetti, Pansit in different forms, cakes in different flavors, so just sit and just enjoy the holidays!

These guys know what they’re doing, and it’s so good! Call them via 027051811, 027051874, 09173112222. Never worry about Christmas dinner again!

Manila's Best: Lydia's Lechon Celebrates 55 Years with New Look!

Wednesday, July 17, 2019

This epic pig was always in my dreams...

They played the commercial in the longest running afternoon show in the Philippines "Eat Bulaga" and just about every big celebration calls for the juicy, tasty Lechon we all love, we always had seconds of it... Like always!

Lydia's Lechon has always been there, always at the top, and as they celebrate their 55th year in the country, they're not going to let their guard down against tough competition. This is why they're slowly sprucing up their stores in the metro and other places in the country. They needed to cater to a eager, Lechon hungry, younger crowd... So take a look at their new store today!

Bright, colorful photos that could make you even more hungry, they all changed the usual mom and pop look and given this a fresher, more instagrammable look in every corner. I like where they're heading and from the looks of it, they're adding more items on the menu. Your classics leveled up, megathrusters are go!

Lechon Paksiw, Lechon Sisig, Kare Kare, Lechon Dinuguan now comes in Rice Bowls. So good, so affordable.

We loved the Lechon Sisig so much we had to get a fresh one on a sizzling plate. Yum!

How can you not love yourself, you must try the skin, a few chunks of smoky meat, still hot from the pit.

If you're not fond of the usual whole lechon, they innovated the look and packaging with this boxed Lechon Bilao! Mmmm....

The next time you celebrate, make it happen at a Lydia's Lechon near you. Thank you to Aling Lydia herself who personally appeared during this fun meet!

Lydia's Lechon has delivery service via your favorite food apps. If you want to see the store we visited, this is the one in Marcos Highway right before Antipolo. They also have a site LydiasLechon.ph and an FB page so you get updates on their promos.

Congratulations on your 55th Lydia's Lechon!

Everyday Christmas at Lydia's Lechon

Wednesday, October 03, 2018

It's not a complete feast in a Filipino party without Lydia's Lechon!

We all celebrate the wonderful experiences we have with family and friends on the dinner table because food keeps us together, it's a way to bond for us Filipinos. Even if we have visitors from here and abroad, when we see we're the only one eating, we ask others "Tara Kain" and always offer what little things we have on our plate, which is remarkably embedded in our culture, one which I absolutely love!

In fiestas, birthdays, or any party for that matter, we'll try and provide the best of Filipino cuisine. These are the times we think about Lechon, and know that in any celebration, it's just not enough if there's none of it on our table.

It's like the piece de resistance, people look forward to it as the most important part of the meal, with good reason. The company knows they have to change with the times so when they came out with new items on the menu, I immediately said I'm there!

Now I'm no stranger to their restaurant because I frequently go to their branch in Timog Avenue, which moved in different places over the years (still in the same street) til they built their own place near 11th Jamboree. They also have one in Roces Avenue that I go to pickup things that I adore like their whole Lechon, their Lechon Paksiw and Dinuguan. Their research in a way produced some mean alternatives so you don't get tired of the roast pork, they did it quite good.

Kansi - Beef Shanks boiled for hours in Tamarind based broth and Lemon Grass. It reminds me of Bacolod and Iloilo.
Laing con Lechon - Your usual Laing leveled up with chunks and pieces of smoky pork Lechon and creamy coconut cream. Better if you have steaming hot white rice with it.
Minced Lettuce Wraps - Chopped Lechon and veggies wrapped on fresh lettuce and served with a dip on a side. It's like a toned down version but smoky Korean lettuce wraps.
Cheesy Beef Caldereta - It's a tomato based beef stew mixed with cheese so you get strands of them after pairing with hot white rice.
Sizzling Tofu - Fried Tofu pieces set ablaze on a hot plate. They also have creamy mayo on it, eat it while it's hot. Better that way.
Bangus Ala Pobre - Boneless deep fried Milkfish with tons of golden crunchy garlic and Thai bird chili on top. This was a hit, gone in 60 seconds.
Pritchon Wraps - Lechon twice cooked til crispy wrapped in mini pita bread with veggies and dipped in three kinds of sauces. I love this one with the Hoisin and Sriracha sauce, but you have to eat it while it's hot. The pita discs tend to dry out fast since the place is air-conditioned
Kare Kare con Lechon - Lightly sweet peanut sauce with boiled vegetables, banana heart and Lechon pieces, how can you go wrong with that? Loved how it felt with the crispy skin Lydia's Lechon is also known for, again, make sure you eat it while it's hot!
Buko Pandan - Their version is quite nice because I don't think they use coconut meat but Macapuno which is a different coconut breed, sweeter and a lot thicker. They also have Leche Flan, but I think this is better.
If you are also keen on taking home stuff or bringing pasalubong to your country of origin, you can get their Oyster Sauce, All Around Sauce and Liquid Seasoning. Pretty good stuff.

This new menu is available now in all 25 branches of Lydia's Lechon nationwide. They have plans to expand and get more franchisees next year. If you want your family to enjoy Filipino fiesta food, make an effort to go to their stores and try these new ones because it's a little fusion and won't be too hard to have when you have foreign guests or balikbayans. It doesn't have to be Christmas to enjoy all these food!

You may check out Lydia's Lechon on Facebook for more updates and promos. Their Lechon only costs around 3K++ and can feed around 12 people already, only if you don't eat too much of it though.
