Midrange Phone with Flagship Features: HONOR 90 5G

Friday, August 18, 2023

My HONOR 90 5G shot, image compressed by FB, but still stunning no?

HONOR Philippines just set the bar high as far in phone launches. This statement remains true until the next one happens.

Took the trip to Bataan to shoot a couple of photos and videos to showcase the new HONOR 90 5G. It's a mid range phone built with flagship features. You kinda immediately wonder if they're still earning from putting in a 200MP Matrix Camera in this thin body, but it all did fit and even got several features included, all for the price of Php 24,999. So the question in your head probably is thinking, is it all worth it?

A flyby surprised us during the launch. Took a shot of it from the front of our villa.

It's got a 12GB + 512 GB capacity, 5000mAh battery, a new system in eye protection, a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 Accelerated Edition processor, NFC capable, GPU Turbo X for your games, a 50 MP Selfie camera, and a 200 MP Main one that can rival the best phones out there for photos. So we ventured on a day of taking shots in broad daylight, during play (Basketball and ATV's), on a Speedboat, during Sunset and lastly on the fireworks which they lit up beach side. This was quite a challenge, and much of the folks there weren't professional photographers, yet there were a lot of the shots that ended up quite amazing!

Here's part of what happened during the launch last August 15!

Yes, all those features for the medium range price. I even saw some of your favorite stars (hi EA Guzman, Shaira Diaz, Pauline Amelinckx, Brent Valdez, Kate Valdez, Klea Pineda + Katrice Kierulf, Bruce Roeland, Matthew Uy, and several of HONOR's influencers carrying the same phone and doing good work with it.

What's good is that they're making this available in the market for Php 24,999 and throwing in a JBL Flip 6 Speaker worth Php 7,499 (where available) if you pre-order til the 25th of this month. So make sure you do get one if you're in the look for a new photo centric phone. Aside from that, HOME CREDIT is offering this at 0% interest, so really, there's no excuse for not having it.

I'd like to take this bit of thanking the men and women from HONOR Philippines who made this experience possible. I had so much fun! Again, congratulations HONOR Philippines! You've outdone yourselves!

realme Launches 9 Pro and 9Pro+

Tuesday, March 08, 2022

Folks looking for a phone would be so happy as realme just released the realme 9 Pro. It's got hybrid dual sim slots (one you can use for micro SD storage), a huge 6.6 inch screen, 1080p 30fbs video, 16MP front camera, and three cams on the back with 64MP, 8MP (for ultra wide shots) and 2MP macro. Very pretty too as it's colorways are in Aurora Green, Sunrise Blue and Midnight Black in some countries.

Battery life is good for long play as it's got 500mah LiPo batteries. You can fast charge it too with 33W power with the proprietary USB C cable. In a way, this is a little like the realme 8 but the improvements and additions are sufficient to be called the 9 Pro. This is also available in 6/8GB RAM versions with the Snapdragon 695 5G processor, runs Android 12 and the new realme UI 3.0 which people love. The 128GB storage also is huge, so you can have photos, videos and lots of apps installed without deleting stuff. A little important for me because I do a lot of these things.

Austin Huang VP for Marketing of realme says "After being named the number 1 phone in 2021, thank you for your continued support for the brand. We have always kept our ears listening to the changing standards of the world. Among our offerings, we are excited to push boundaries with the realme 9 Pro series. Flagship features for a mid range phone. We dare you capture the light like a pro, to cater to a dynamic lifestyle."

realme 9 Pro+

The phones will be having a bigger sensor, bigger light intake and better photos. The realme 9 Pro Plus on the other hand has better image output, better photos in low light situations, steady and still with OIS that helps with lessening blur for videos. It's a hardware and software combination that gets you to lessen noise, so you get a worthy image to post on socials and print. The audio has dual speakers with dolby atmos, those movie nights would never be the same. The realme 9 Pro+ has a MediaTek Dimensity 720 5G Processor, 4,500 mAh battery, Vapor Chamber Cooling System so you don't have to worry about heating. It's also got 60W Super Dart Charge, only takes you a couple minutes to full charge your phone. Don't be confused what to get though because both of them are quite good. 5G ready phones at this price point is simply good already, but they packed it with good hardware.

According to tests done by realme Philippines, they've gotten no problems in gaming. Albeit sweat and intense use would play a role, they've had not seen any issues with the phones they've gotten. As for aftersales service, they have 20 locations nationwide minus one because of a fire in Alabang, but they're currently expanding in the country, so there's more places you can go to if you encounter issues.

They will also have realme Buds Air 3 launched on the 15th so stay tuned for that. It's very minimalist, active noise cancellation, 42dB of it. 30hours of playback. Dynamic Bass Bosst Driver too so you're getting that party done in your own head when you need it. It's also iPX5 water resistant, perfect for summer fun!

Take Outstanding Photos with the Zenfone 5Q

Monday, June 11, 2018

The ASUS Zenfone 5Q

Seeing the market being saturated with smartphones definitely makes me wonder how brands would get noticed. They've got about a few months after they have been launched to see if they have just about almost any feature available in the market crunched down in a single phone and have to sell it at an affordable price. This one in particular comes from ASUS and is part of their Zenfone series. It's properly called the ASUS Zenfone 5Q or ASUS Zenfone Lite (in Taiwan).

Here's a little unboxing video I made for it.

What makes this a glorious phone is how they've kept all the messy stuff out of the design. No buttons on front, super nice as if it's black glass all over. They did it without introducing the notch which for some users would be annoying. It's got that curved glass effect in the front and the back, still a 6 inch display with a 18:9 display ratio so you still see very nice videos and play those third person shooting games you adore if you need to.

Now this phone is special because it's got two front cameras. It's got one of them on 20MP while the other is at 8MP. This means you can take wide angle shots with ease, so no need to move or arrange yourselves in selfie moments because it can practically see you all! Aside from that, the back camera takes outstanding photos too. It's got a 16MP and 8MP camera which can still give you very detailed shots even without retouching the images.

I took the liberty to bring it to Brisbane Australia so we could see if it outclasses phones that are on the same price range. I'm telling you, it did not disappoint. Mind you, these are untouched photos that's even sent through the messenger app so it has Facebook degrading it's quality, but look at the hues, the colors of Brisbane Australia's Brisvegas locale, it captured the dawn hours quite nicely.

At night

At dawn, you can still see the details clearly.

Thanks to the phone's reliable 16MP back camera, you don't have to worry about dawn shots, even evening shots were challenged but you can see it can still take some stunning photos.

Selfie photo :)

food shots, divine!

Food shot, full screen wide shot!

Food shot, non full screen. Amazing!

The phone comes with it's own case, generic headphones with changing earpiece, cable and charger.
The selfies are phenomenal! I think this was built with that in mind. A selfie phone in this price range would be a good deal for those who are still studying, as it is in the mid range.

The two back cameras are flanked by the fingerprint scanner, I also must say this has been the most reliable way of opening up my phone with security.

The ASUS Zenfone 5Q has been impressive in the camera department as it also employs a PRO mode, make GIF's, BEAUTY mode and a SELFIE Panorama. Now make sure you also use "Save as Flipped" in the settings because I weirded out when I mistakenly used it in a different direction while using the selfie mode. Imagine, you're buying a phone with 4 cameras, with bokeh as creamy as your coffee in the morning your outputs would just be really as nice as the professionals do.

The only limits are your imagination, it takes experience too. Now this can also last you a whole day even without charging in between, I'm a heavy data user and this just fits my lifestyle. Covering events the whole day, I still had about a few percent left when I got home. The photos are of good quality, you don't have to go splurge too much on pricey ones when you can get the output on midrange phones right? It's very practical to actually consider this as your primary or secondary phone, we all have that by now I'm sure. This is priced at 16,995 for the 64GB at Lazada.

If you want to know more about the ASUS Zenfone 5Q or ASUS Zenfoone Lite, you may visit asus.com/ph website.

Trust me on the photos.
