PENSHOPPE Launches #iamdifferent Campaign

Monday, November 06, 2017

Have you ever been bullied? I have, a lot of times actually. I am glad to have joined several campaigns that have tackled this difficult problem that people have been through all these years. It makes me realize that it's a also a cycle, admittedly I have also bullied some of my friends, and I know it's not right. As much as I can, I try not to do that anymore because it's wrong on so many levels. I'm glad Penshoppe is doing it too.

You see my crazy hair? The weird clothes I wear? The shoes that I use? I love them all, but I'm sure a significant part of society won't consider that normal, up to their standards, but if you think about it I am the personification of this particular campaign because #iamdifferent. Being different doesn't mean people have the right to abuse you, use you, or tell you bad things because it's not right. That difference should be celebrated, because it's something good, it's individuality, it's taking a gamble with non conformity. It's cool, it's fashion forward, and no one should put you down because of it.

Together with the iconic men and women that are endorsing Penshoppe like Lucky Blue Smith, Sandara Park, Cameron Dallas, Kaia Gerber, Bella Hadid, Mario Maurer, and local stars Tanner Mata and Hashtag Ronnie Alonte, this night was something they wanted to happen because they were excited about this cause according to Jeff Bascon, Penshoppe's Fashion Director. It's very current, it's still happening and they will put a stop to it by funding a grassroots program module that would teach kids acceptance, against bullying via the organization Teach For The Philippines.

All you have to do now is support the movement by purchasing limited edition shirts included in the #iamdifferent collection. Each shirt has a unique serial number and is supported by models, artists, individuals from around the world who believe in the cause. I'd like to take this bit to thank PENSHOPPE for including me in this campaign. I would really love bullying to end, and I know this is just the start.

If you want to support the cause, please visit your nearest Penshoppe branch and purchase these lovely shirts made of really good material, with specially hand crafted tags just for the cause. Congratulations Penshoppe!

Sandara Park for Penshoppe

Tuesday, April 05, 2016

When news about her arrival in the Philippines was out a few days ago, I was excited to cover because I find Sandara a little quirky than the usual international performer. She might be already in +2NE1 but she never get to be an entitled artist and only answered in Filipino when she was asked during the press conference for Penshoppe. I find her humility attractive, let alone her fashion statement since she's been wearing this brand since high school. She felt that it was serendipity even if she could only afford a few shirts back then and she was so happy that she got to work with the actual brand now.

During the press conference, she wasn't really asked by the press. They kinda filtered the questions and the only ones asked were about her experience going back to the Philippines and not much about parts of her collection. She mentioned though that she's very much a shirt and jeans kind of girl so if it's just a simple day she'd really wear Penshoppe as it is comfy.

She's very funny, in a witty but subtle kind of way. I wanted to ask her about her summer essentials but didn't get picked for the questions, I didn't feel bad though. I must have asked a hard one on paper so they didn't choose mine.

Jeff Bascon, the Brand Director for Penshoppe welcomed the 2NE1 star. He's happy that she's now a part of the brand where he says she's a perfect fit. I completely agree. I didn't get to see the fashion show in Trinoma though, because they wanted us to sit a few rows in the back. I didn't plan to shoot heads of people I don't know as with any other fashion show I've been to (I call that a caste system, which has been phased out in New York Fashion Week ages ago) and the stage wasn't even raised so how can I shoot from there. That's a no-no for me. So I felt bad, really really bad and left before they even started. Anyway, I got decent shots of Sandara during the press conference, so I think this will be sufficient. She wore a white denim number and a shirt inside, looked cute.

Here's part of Sandara's interview where she was asked questions by VJ Chino Lui Pio. Enjoy!

She's happy. Penshoppe is international. I'll probably get over not having to shoot the fashion show, so sorry for not showing you any of the clothes featured there. Maybe if I visit their store I'll have them on Instagram, so again my apologies for not having the freaking runway show covered.

Thanks Penshoppe!

Sean O'Pry X Penshoppe Denimlab Fashion Show

Monday, April 13, 2015

Last night was awesome! (well that's two days ago!) We saw Penshoppe's newest endorser Sean O' Pry finally on the runway. This happened in the Function Room 4 of SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia in Pasay City. In attendance were Penshoppe's CEO Bernie Liu, their VP Alice Liu, their sons, fashionistas, celebrities and Sean O'Pry's fans. Jeff Bascon, Penshoppe's Brand Director said a few words before the start of the show. This year has been great for them and the pieces we were about to see he said is part of the Penshoppe Denim Lab collection and added that it was going to be special with Sean O'Pry on the helm. This guy is very humble, he took time to shake our hands one by one during the press conference (as seen on my Penshoppe post here) and I get why he's still adored by many even after his great stint in the Taylor Swift and Madonna video. I wasn't just the one excited because I could hear the screaming fans on this three runway platform they prepared for us. Shall we start?

It was dark and even from afar, people could already see Sean O'Pry in the center of the runway.

When the lights came on, Sean here wore denim shorts, gray striped sweater with green sleeves.
