The Runway Atelier Stages MAGICAL ADVENTURE Fashion Show at Shangrila Makati

Thursday, December 05, 2024

While the world is going back to normal, we've seen the fashion industry take a bullish stand despite the challenges of mounting runway shows in the country. The Runway Atelier recently mounted a fashion show at the well missed Shangri-la Makati. The agency supports not just models, but stylists and fashion designers as well. The theme this year is called "Magical Adventure", sort of a recital for the models they trained and a showcase for stylists and designers they tapped so they too would have experience in huge shows like these. This also means they'll be donning various designs based on mythical creatures, entities, much of which are fairies and gods/goddesses too.

At the venue, we were greeted with tons of kids, teens, experienced ones, almost 300 of them who are raring to go on the catwalk, as part of The Runway Atelier's vision of nurturing every model's unique potential. We've seen several cute kids that would definitely fit commercials, some who would be best on runway shows too or for commercial campaigns.

Check out some of the designers who are featured in the show in this video. While most of them have done this before, a few of them are just starting and were all so thankful about the opportunity to showcase their work through the Magical Adventure fashion show.

5 models from The Runway Atelier also showcased one of our favorite brands "Bela by Bela", they used the Bela Color Changing Lip Balm, the Bela Dot Perfection Cheek Tint Cream, the Bela Bloom Soap Collection and Dani by Bela Scents quite extensively and need not much make up because the colors and lip care they have is already enough. Models Thalya, Sapphire, Archelle, Bea and Lizzie talked how much Bela products have given them the confidence they need to walk on the runway and make them feel extra pretty. They mentioned how much it has emphasized natural beauty, and how fun it was because it changes color as they use it. The Runway Atelier also teaches the models how to become empowered individuals, they use Bela to enhance their looks, even on regular days when they're just going around town with friends and family.

I could see how excited the parents of the kids were, surely, all of them were supporting their kids dreams and passion... and the show. They're not just their number 1 fan, they also made sure the kids would present themselves well on the runway, carried them where they need to go, but let go when they had to muster up courage to walk on the runway. It was sweet seeing that happen!

The Runway Atelier partnered up with various brands, designers and agencies to stage these runway shows twice a year to also create opportunities for their models, new and up and coming designers, and want to make sure they have a platform to showcase their skills. This is also a place where they could build confidence and do even bigger shows, and also be a venue to be discovered by brands, agencies, industry greats, and network so they too have opportunities and make their dreams come true. Some of them have pronounced wanting to do modeling in the international stage, which we hope would come into fruition because we've seen them work hard in the workshops and shows they participate in.

Congratulations to the hard working men, women, teens and kids who made this event possible! Can't wait to see you in future shows. It's been a while since I've covered Philippine Fashion Week and they're making a comeback in 2025, maybe you can have some of your talents be there too.

PS. Thank you to Ms. Lizze Aguinaldo also for taking care of us, sending us treats after the show.

Perfect For Rainy Days: Woo Galbi

Monday, July 28, 2014

Have you guys tried WOO GALBI? If not, then you are missing a lot. On the 6th Floor of Shangrila Edsa Mall's East Wing - particularly on the right side, they've got a huge prolly 100 seat restaurant that can accommodate you for brunch, lunch, dinner or if you just want to have a quick bite. The ambiance would be perfect for business or pleasure, or even if you just want to hang around with friends and family. As for us, we went there because it was raining profusely in Manila. This is a place that serves Korean, so we were looking for something authentic but still comforting. We've got to have that.

Ojing-O Ramyeon

They call this the Ojing-O Ramyeon. If my hunch is correct, they used a kimchi laden broth on this one hence it's a little spicy. It's nothing that wouldn't be tolerable, actually I find it real smooth and you can smell the chili and squid essence in every slurp. It's also got fresh Korean noodles and served with egg. Don't mind people when eating Ramyeon because it is encouraged to actually do that "slurping" action. It's like giving the chef a pat on the back because you're enjoying the dish.

Jeyuk Ramyeon

They also got Jeyuk Ramyeon which is the Pork version of it. Equally good in my opinion but if you are a little allergic to seafood like I am, I'd take this one. I still tasted the same broth. Oh and yes, they have this in a promo from 2-5PM Monday to Saturday. For only 250 pesos, you can have hot and delicious Woo Galbi Ramyeon... but make sure no sharing or leftovers (see the fine print!). This also can't be in conjunction with government issued discounts. Anyway, it's worth it!

PISMO Digital Lifestyle at Shangrila Mall East Wing

Saturday, October 26, 2013

We all love our gadgets. No matter how expensive they are or how hard it is to get one, we need that perfect companion to run our daily lives a little better. Often times, we have to go to different stores to get our handsets and the corresponding accessories too. Pismo is located at the new East Wing in Shangrila Mall and they have steadily gained patrons and regular customers because they have it all in one place.

Aside from that, they focus on giving consumers the real world feel of these gadgets and they encourage you to try it out first before purchasing it. Now you opt to go to official stores; but you'll just end up looking at the merchandise, that's where PISMO has an edge since their thrust is for you to have total customer satisfaction.

Now you don't have to even wonder what it feels like to own these gadgets. This AR Parrot Drone for example, you can customize this for your needs. Using an app to control its directions you can travel with it and do shots that are unimaginable. Test it out first if you must, they'd be glad to show you how it works.

They did build a large store just to make sure everything can be accommodated. They even hold events in this joint specific to training, gadgets and electronic devices; surely this would be something that consumers would absolutely love.

They've got hundreds of phone cases available. They've got old and new ones, I like this Belkin Lego Case the most that I almost bought it that evening. I stopped because my boss might get me one LOL.

This Lego Builder Case costs around 1,6K but it's totally worth it. You can put real lego pieces in the back and make your own custom case + design. You would be the envy of Lego hobbyists for sure! They also have trickling chargers which doesn't need those long spaghetti cables that's kinda annoying. Now you can get organized, make things easier at home with what they have in store.

Bags of different sizes and shapes were all there. I love the Satchel bags, knapsacks, messenger bags and ecobags that were intricately designed and oh so colorful now on their shelves. Now you can get your gadgets safe as some of these bags have ample amount of cushion - it's the perfect partner no?

They also have Belkin products like these car charger/sync cables which actually according to reviews is even better than the original Apply lightning chargers. They also have this AC WIFI Dual Band USB adapter if you want better wireless speeds on your computer (that's if you have an AC router too!). They also have the Belkin Netcam which you can use in your home as a security camera. You can even watch it over the Internet if you are out of town. Isn't that neat?

Seeing this in the corner just had me startled. This is from Philip Starck if I'm not mistaken. A very famous designer from Europe. These wonderfully designed pieces are also iPod docks so you can use it even if you are on the go. So classy no?

If you are looking for something fresh, something new, just give PISMO a visit at the new Shangrila Mall East Wing (Level6) and experience these gadgets before you even buy it. Aside from that they've got a workshop on how to organize your digital lifestyle. It will happen today at 5:30 PM so make sure you drop by before you go off somewhere else to shop capisce?
