Outstanding Laundry Technologies: Lagoon Advanced Care Systems

Friday, November 24, 2017

Fast, easy and green... that's the vision. With the release of the Electrolux line 5000, Electrolux Professional is pushing for technologies for equipment that is delicate on fabrics, gentle on the environment and something that would change the business. This Lagoon Adavnced Care is ergonomic, sustainable and that treats clothes well. This is a wet solution, but doesn't use harsh chemicals so even if you use less water, you don't compromise the efficiency and quality of cleaning clothes. This is an alternative to dry cleaning.

Dave Arboleda says "We are a stones throw away from Araneta Coliseum, you see how they use gowns and suits so you know how hard it is to take care for them. We usually have them dry cleaned right? But that is a little dangerous because of the solvents that are used, so we have developed a wet cleaning system that has been approved by Woolmark, a standard recognized worldwide.  Perchloroethylene is not good for the environment and is toxic, the substance also needs proper disposal as it is hazardous. It also causes cancer, can make white fabrics gray which isn't a lovely picture to paint. Perc is now restricted abroad and will be banned in the next few years. Solven based washing is not a good thing if you use these chemicals, it's not as fresh, not as clean, not eco friendly and not healthy (harmful to operator and owner of the clothes). Hotels and Laundry shops have these dry cleaning machines and some even have used wash basins at times without knowing the dangers of it. The best alternative? Here's the Lagoon Advanced Care systems."

Lagoon Advanced Care systems are not complicated, it's fast, effective and can be done in one hour. Customers now come back for it because it's a game changer.

Ko Jon Hok explains "This is a water based solution, I'm wearing a suit right now and it's common in so many countries. Jackets have different types of fabric just like your local barong. From receiving the garment, to spotting, washing, drying and pressing, it takes about an hour to finish everything.

The Lagoon advanced care machines have different capacities. Woolmark developed this system with us and got us certified also with other fabrics. The system has efficient dosing which means it adjusts the amount of solvents/detergent depending on the load. It's very easy to mount, (he then puts his wool and polyester in the machine) it uses the existing water in the drum and it uses very small amount. The foam cleans it all and cushions the garment. In a way it mimics hand washing, but this is consistent and very gentle. The dryer on the other hand detects the moisture of the clothes (through a sensor, he showed us using a hand and it detected that her hand had 8% moisture) so you efficiently use energy or heat on the garment. If you see the before and after photos, it has some wrinkled after washing, but after drying it gets straightened out and almost needs no ironing (because of the conditioner they use). From coats, to dresses, to wedding gowns, now you can do it in a machine instead of just hand washing these expensive gowns. Even with beads, embroidery, stones, mixed clothes, fleece, velvet, silk and a whole lot more, it would look almost new after going through the Lagoon Advanced Care system. The Electrolux machines with the custom programs, the detergents and conditioner (so it's easier to iron and protects it with coating) pumps, and will only work with the detergent and conditioner that is tested eith it and can be installed fast. Hotels have used it already, we have pioneers who have used this system and it is available all over the world.

For those who want to know more about the system, you may contact ELS Philippines Inc. who is the laundry solution provider and distributor in the Philippines. They are located at M5 Goldland Tower at 10 Eisenhower Street Greenhills San Juan City. You can also visit their website at https://elsphilippines.com/

Huawei Holds Philippine ICT Roadshow 2015

Wednesday, June 24, 2015

We got invited to cover Huawei's ICT Roadshow which happened in Dusit Thani in Makati, Philippines. It's an opportunity to learn, and how Filipino information technology decision makers would be able to take advantage of the many hardware advancements that Huawei can actually provide for servers, mobile devices and make internal network efficiency and security a reality. Huawei Philippines has been one of the leaders in this industry and they've been working hand in hand with government agencies, private corporations and institutions to help in nation building. Tall order, but its achievable. It's a give and take thing, and I think that if they want to grow as a company, they had to make changes and show what they could offer the Philippines.

As Jackie Gao CEO of Huawei says "We are trying to make things possible. We believe technology and communication will enrich lives. Let's build a connected Philippines."

To open the event, they also invited Mr. Monchito Ibrahim of DOST and he says "June is the ICT month in the Philippines and we've seen how the internet has revolutionized the way Filipinos live their lives. Internet fuels the economy too, jobs have been created there. 18.6 US dollars has been generated in the ICT alone, being connected is sharing ingenuity and innovation. The real test is how to make challenges be resolved locally and start digitally empowering our countrymen even in the countryside. We are optimistic that the free internet program to be launched in major cities soon will make no Juan be left behind. As we aim to be the global leader in this sector, innovations through commerce has been done together with ICT corporations like Huawei like  the startup challenges we held last month and I wish everyone would help make this country a global leader in this segment." He also mentioned he used to compete with Huawei in the past, he was glad to be invited this time to speak in front of tons of IT professionals that afternoon.

The projected 6.4 GDP growth this year, low inflation rate and additional employment will make business models in connectivity a success in the Philippines because it is innate in Filipino homes to stay connected. We have millions of cellphone subscribers and are still expected to grow. The NTC is working with also with Huawei in making sure stakeholders are taken cared of. The new normal in the Philippine climate will make disaster response and security solutions to be put in place, Huawei can help the country in this sector. ICT will thrive in the years to come, increase in broadband connectivity increases a country's GDP to result in a more robust economy.

Jubert Alberto of IDC Philippines says "No company can survive without the heavy use of social media as we continue to change marketing strategies and becoming omni channeled so they can thrive on platforms. Telcos should provide stable and reliable connectivity so we all can gain access to cloud and big data services. BPO's will push more emerging business models as services. There is a rise in millenials and they want it now, they want it fast, there is a large room for growth and I hope Huawei would be able to help the Philippines".

They also launched the OceanStor V3 which are enterprise level storage systems that can still adapt older devices and new ones so they can work together (hardware and systems) without totally phasing them out. That would save corporations a lot of money in the long run and the premise is, big data plus reliable storage units can adapt to new technology with their devices running it. There will be more network and mobile devices that Huawei will be dishing out in the next few years. Information officers should take a look at what's possible to salvage so they can still efficiently use rather than changing whole systems abruptly which will need more resources like manpower, hardware, plus training costs. Congratulations Huawei for a very successful ICT Roadshow, I really learned a lot!

IBM's Smarter Storage Solutions

Friday, September 14, 2012

When you notice your hard drive is about to become 100 percent capacity you always run around in circles and feel you're about to lose it. Now just imagine that same time when you tried to partition  your drives the first time you bought your laptop or desktop computer and looked helpless seeing it wasn't enough space you allocated for your files and you can't do anything about it and had no where else to back up files. Your pathetic attempt to put everything on USB drives and DVD was laughed upon by your peers because they know it would take you hours upon hours to do that and make it one of the most unproductive days at work. Your network administrator suddenly took out the whole network down so he can backup your office files and you go way past your deadlines, truly not a fun situation to be in.

All along, it should have been an enterprise level system that should have handled all of these for you. IBM as part of their smart computing initiatives, announced a new approach in planning, designing and managing big data infrastructures that utilizes their energy efficient, smart and intelligent software and hardware storage solutions that minimizes legwork in strategical ergonomic processes. Seen in the photo above, Jeff Barber, the Vice President for Mid Range Storage, Systems and Technology Group for IBM explains that the data we are gathering from an enterprise and corporate standpoint are increasing exponentially. The Asean region alone utilizes a huge chunk of these storage requirements and the only way you can cope up with this is by smart systems that has the intelligence and efficiency of handling this big data. We were shocked to see the numbers but it looks like they've got that covered. With things that can understand and automatically manage your data for you even in several brands that would normally not work together, the IBM Smarter Storage can run with your evolving infrastructures which even in some way future proof your systems. Now isn't that smart?

If you know about Watson and the wonderful things he did for championing Jeopardy, that's exactly what they are going to be implementing in these storage systems. The proper management of data via virtualization, de-duplication, automated (even multilevel) tiering and cataloging can't be done by other known systems but IBM has that on their sleeve. You should check out these services that can complement your existing storage systems and have that enhanced via Intelligent Storage Service Catalog (ISSC) and utilize Cloud Systems (which in my books is inevitable) via IBM SmartCloud Services for Storage that can improve your data backup, manage massive quantities of data even in real time.

Check out what they can offer over at http://www.ibm.com/storage or follow them on Twitter @IBMStorage for more information.
