In The Name of Love

Monday, May 09, 2011

What would you do for love?

How far would you go to get it?

It's extremely hard to answer these questions yet a lot of us can relate to this story. Would you be willing to die just for the sake of it? Would you risk your life just for love?

Star Cinema in it's 18th year Anniversary presents a film by acclaimed Director Ms. Olivia Lamasan. Starring the sexiest woman in the country Angel Locsin, certified hunk Jake Cuenca and the one and only Aga Mulach... promptly titled "In the name of Love".

This has been one whole year in the making and everyone's excited that they finished filming it. I was so glad to have been invited to their press conference last Thursday and it was so nice to see Aga in a different light. In this film I felt he was stripped of his youthful looks. He was purposely aged and fattened up to look the part and the movie was more of a learning experience for him even though he was already a veteran actor. He did so many things in this movie that he hasn't done before and the actual scenes in the movie shows how he felt it was so challenging. Aga playes the role of a Dance instructor who in the movie falls in love with Cedes Fernandez (played by Angel Locsin).

Angel Locsin even got bruised all over but it did not hamper her drive to still perform her role as Cedes Fernandez. She has been with Aga and Jake's character; Cedes couldn't get out of Dylan (the role of Jake Cuenca) and his family the "Evelinos". Out of indebtedness and respect for the political family she offered herself and her love but couldn't get out of it for dear life. She knows it is so dangerous be in it but she never knew it was doubly hard to get out of it. It might cost her and Emman Toledo's life which is played by Aga Mulach. All she wanted was to be accepted even with all her flaws in life. She needed LOVE.

Jake Cuenca as Dylan Evelino; was tasked to carry on the family's political dynasty and run as vice-mayor of Tabang, Lambatan. He had good political intentions but he might just use his family's political prowess to get what he always wanted; the love of Angel Locsin's character Cedes Fernandez. It was obsessive love with her though that might just push him to the edge.

This is one for the books! I'm sure this will be another blockbuster film from Star Cinema!

Make sure you watch the Premier Night on May 10 7:30PM at SM Megamall and regular showing on May 11 on theaters nationwide!

Here are some of my shots from the press conference!

Angel Locsin and Aga Mulach stars on this movie.
With hunky actor Jake Cuenca.

I hate seeing her play mother roles because she's still so beautiful after so many years in showbusiness. Ms. Carmi Martin!
Did I forget to say Angel Locsin was gorgeous?! ^_^

The cast sat just right beside me. :)
This was when they were hounded by reporters.
Did I forget to say it again? LOL She was so beautiful!

Jake Cuenca, Aga Mulach and Angel Locsin was so game in answering questions.
Director Olivia Lamasan on another masterpiece!

Direk Olivia M. Lamasan, Aga, Angel and Jake laugh it off on some of the questions by the press.

Enrico C. Santos (photo above - a great writer!) and Ms. Olivia M. Lamasan explained that you should watch the movie right from the very beginning since it is what you call a non linear story. You wouldn't figure out the story just from watching the trailer itself. There are lots of twists and turns and you'll only know and find out the actual characters if you watch the movie. Need I say more? Go ahead and watch it huh?! =)

Getting Friends and A Few Enemies

Sunday, October 24, 2010

I watched "The Social Network" movie last week and I was really impressed on how they told the story of Facebook. Like a lot of you guys I was a Friendster, Multiply and Myspace addict a couple of years ago. I was one of the few who resisted joining other social networks because it literally was a little time consuming. I had well resisted the temptation of opening one but the spam mails were really getting to me. After a few weeks everybody else was there aside from me so why shouldn't I join the bandwagon right?! When I made an account I didn't even bother to upload photos because I didn't know it would be as big as what it is today. I mainly played Mafia Wars and just tried adding friends for my mafia. I saw my own wall flooded with status remarks from everyone else and I think the connection became more real. You had the option to like or unlike something before... just imagine you can flatter or offend someone at a click of a link. Everyone else was getting what they want because relationship statuses were on their profiles as if it was telling someone "GET ME I'M SINGLE!" right at your face. I was venturing into a new hobby (photography) and that got the ball rolling, I was surprised how the social network that I despised of joining a few months back was literally making me stay staring at the wall and refreshing for hours! (I did that and I'm guilty!)

Anyway let's go back to Mark Zuckerberg. I didn't know he was that smart. I didn't know what a genius looked like until I tried to absorb that scene they made in that restaurant.

"Mark Zuckerberg: You're really leaving?

Erica takes Mark's hand and looks at him tenderly...

Erica: Listen. You're going to be successful and rich. But you're going to go through life thinking that girls don't like you because you're a tech geek. And I want you to know, from the bottom of my heart, that that won't be true. It'll be because you're an a**hole."

Okay... was it really a coincidence? it had some really huge similarities on my illustrious dating life. Well almost... I didn't really go to Harvard for that. Plus, I won't be scoring that well in the SAT's on the 16,000+ levels but I had better NSAT scores than our class valedictorian, does that count?! LOL! I have no bragging rights but I freaking want my soon to be wife an achiever, is that so much to ask for!? I guess not.

It was a really intellectual movie to say the least. Some sexy, perversion parts courtesy of their Jewish fraternities and Justin Timberlake as part of the cast acting as the homeless cocaine bearing billionaire - NAPSTER owner extraordinaire made the cut to put some sense on the problems they had to face on this movie. There were lies and setups from various personalities that you couldn't ignore and just made the movie a little more interesting (Yeah I like the part where his partner had to carry a chicken the whole day and got marred for animal cruelty!). I went home with a headache (thanks to the unending twists and turns) but it gave me something to think about with my friends and business dealings. Who would have thought otherwise?!

This awesome movie premier was all courtesy of PLDT myDSL modem+ WIFI and Nuffnang Philippines! I've never felt so glad I had PLDT as my current DSL provider and Nuffnang for hooking us up.

I would really love the opportunity to test out the PLDT myDSL modem+ WIFI because I might not be the real Cameron or Tyler Winklevoss that can spark an idea, or Saverin who is a business genius who still got fooled in the end... but I'm one of the best people who'd appreciate being online almost 24/7 working as a social network professional (whatta total coincidence!) and be happy with the small things life has. I'm no IVY league graduate but if given a chance to get one of these units I'll try my best not to become a borderline autistic, entirely ruthless conniver. I'll try to get a few friends to use it and try my best to get fewer enemies in the future. Now wouldn't that be just a great deal?!

Sex and the City 2

Saturday, June 05, 2010

It was awesome! I finally had the great movie I was looking for this year. I had a ton of laugh while watching it. If you do not watch this you'll miss a lot.

You know part 1 had Carrie played by you know who and Big played by that big guy who almost didn't make the film got married right? Well they got into an arrangement of having their kind of relationship. Carrie did put it into her novel too and that kinda got the irk of her readers and lots of reviews. Lots of problems on their setup and unclear conversations between them was getting Carrie stressed.

Samantha Jones was there and had a change of lifestyle thanks to a book she read. She was all creams, estrogen shots and supplements. She went to a premier together with her previous boyfriend turned actor and met a sheik from abu dhabi. She was asked to promote for the city too so she was invited to that place after a while with the condition that she brings her friends with her there. Disaster struck when she couldn't bring her creams and supplements with her. That's why there goes menopause! ha-ha! It was the start of her swearing and hummus eating afterwards but it didn't really have an effect. Anyway, they were all treated to life's best things from 4 solo going vehicles to having their own butlers and a grand hotel room that spelled 22 thousand dollars a night for it. It had its own bar, kitchen and it would be an understatement to call it a palace.

I was also really ecstatic the time that I saw they did not tone down on fashion. It was all eye candy as they sported the belly dancing like attires for the Abu Dhabi scenes. I like the 80's inspired flashbacks also in the beginning, that was really a fun way to start everything! hahahah!

Conflicts: Carrie saw Aidan in Abu Dhabi, they had dinner and kissed. She told Big.... and the sad things continued. Hurt Big BIGTIME! but they patched things up when she got back to New York.

Charlotte was living in hell because of the kids.

Miranda was there to help everyone. Showed Charlotte she went through that also. She was translating for everyone haha!

Samantha had sex on the beach and almost got locked up in Abu Dhabi prisons hahaha. She threw condoms on the streets at the irk of men in robes and muslim clerics.

It was a really good movie, I would really recommend this to anyone who loved the series in HBO and the first movie. This is a very good sequel! Awesome!

I'm giving this 5 KUMAGS out of 5! The perfect movie for this summer's end!
