Jeric Gonzales, Abel Estanislao and Jak Roberto Now Sings as 3logy

Wednesday, August 05, 2015

There's this boy group, not necessarily a boy band, which I find so unfair because just look at them! It's Jeric Gonzales, Abel Estanislao and Jak Roberto, three guys who have really good individual careers, are joining together to form a group called 3logy. I did say unfair right?

Jeric's been doing a lot of Magpakailanman and Karelasyon episodes. Aside from that, he's in the Dingdong Dantes starrer called Pari 'Koy where he plays Eli Marasigan's character. Aside from a very successful acting career, he's a very spirited singer and they've managed to work out this group when people from GMA Artist Center noticed that they actually look good together when they had workshops a couple of months ago. Abel Estanislao on the other hand has two shows on his helm. He's in the Kristoffer Martin -  Joyce Ching show Healing Hearts and plays Earl while he also is in the Ruru Madrid - Gabbi Garcia prime time show Let the Love Begin (of which I happily saw him again yesterday!). Jak Roberto on the other hand is still in Half Sisters and and the same show as Abel in Pari 'Koy. Evidently, they're all successful in their own right, but why form 3logy?

Jak Roberto says "GMA Artist Center saw us first and decided that we sing most of the theme songs of the recent Koreanovelas shown on our station. The first one we ever did was the revived version of "Maybe It's You" that was used for Kim Sam Soon. We all enjoy singing, Jeric can play instruments, so does Abel, and I on the other hand already had a group before so it wasn't really hard to do this. We know our voices. Their initial plan was more of be like the APO Hiking Society where we'd do mostly revival songs, and do it in a more acoustic way. We all played the guitar initially, but we transitioned doing the Koreanovela's theme later on. It's a bit hard to convince people because there are a lot of other artists who probably are better than us but we prepare very hard before a performance just so people would like our music. We're not here to impress, our intention is so that people would enjoy, get entertained when we sing.We have small problems in scheduling because we work in different times. It's a challenge because it's difficult to form a song when one of the members isn't there, including syncing, rehearsals too. We also had to beg off with some of our mall shows because of that, but it's all good. Zeb Zuniga helps us in vocals and Mikoy too, even in blending. I get inspired with singers like Duncan Ramos, I do falsetto's and it's difficult. Maybe we can do a few originals and a few Koreanovela songs as well."

Abel adds "It's in the workshop, that's where they started it all. Mikoy Morales made us our very first original song and that's what we've been singing lately which is called "Pwede Ba!". We sang this first single in Sunday All Stars. Hopefully there will be plans to have an album too, but we prioritized to release something digital first and that's what we have now in OPM2GO.com. Mikoy is currently making more music for us as he says. We're really excited for that. We're also trying to compose, but it hasn't materialized yet. Mikoy is a genius, he mastered that part. He makes good songs, I like it as our voices are not into those dance tracks. I think we'll fit love songs better. That's where you'll hear more blending, as what we're gunning for. As for relationships, mine's a bit complicated. We're not a boyband, I started as a musician before I did showbiz. I was doing jazz and playing in Stonehouse, I did sessions there, music is in my heart, it's my passion. Right now, we're doing this together with our individual shows. We don't have a lead singer, it just depends on the song so we usually alternate. In Pwede Ba, I suggested a few things so when we recorded it he liked it and that landed in the song, we do have small creative inputs. We have covers, we have originals, (then they sang Gusto Kita by Gino Padilla during this bit). I like Rannie Raymundo's music, he sings differently when live. We do work hard in Artist Center, in the next few months I hope the group gets more well known and perhaps get more following too."

Jeric also says "There was one workshop where we were spotted and they knew right then and there that we looked very good together, we have chemistry, so they thought of bringing us together. Then we said "why not?!, why don't we try that!". We're all single, so the song "Pwede Ba" was really perfect for us. We like love songs because we're sweet guys really! LOL. We've been working hard as a group, we bond, we rehearse a lot. We practice our song over and over again so we'd sound good when we perform, and also improve even more. We have challenges because my schedule is different working in Pari 'Koy but we're doing good. We've rehearsed a few songs now so we can do something more if needed be, but we're also concentrating on the Koreanovela songs we can do in our repertoire. I personally like artists that are more in the RnB side, so I get inspired with JayR and Gary V. I do high notes but it depends on the song. Hopefully, we can get an album, that's our goal."

These good looking guys, their songs, all but have nowhere to go but up. Aside from their very promising songs, you can look forward to see them promote not just their shows... but their group as well. You should definitely watch out for 3logy as they come out with more songs, be in more shows in malls, and TV very soon. I can't wait to see their first album, hopefully they could release one before the year ends. They hold a lot of promise, it's just a matter of time when you'll love them all over again when they sing their way into your hearts very soon. Congratulations Jeric, Abel and Jak! This is just the beginning!

Here's a preview of their latest single Pwede Ba

Julie Anne San Jose - Deeper

Monday, August 04, 2014

Julie Anne San Jose - Deeper
She was busy entertaining reporters when I arrived at Centerstage in Tomas Morato, Quezon City. I think I''ve covered some of her events in the past for a clothing line but we never really got to talk this much during that event. I glanced at her from this view and saw someone gorgeous, someone pleasant even if I haven't really gone this intimate for an interview before. I remember how crazy people were trying to get news of her over on Twitter and it was not any different during this blog conference. I mean, who wouldn't be startled with someone this talented and nice looking. She's Julie Anne San Jose after all.

Then when she started singing, everyone paid attention. Her undeniable power, finesse and intensity just flourished with each song she dished out of that Karaoke machine. It was effortless and who would believe something this good would come out of that venue. To top it all, everyone was a little shy I think of asking her questions. So I did the next best thing KUMAGCOW can do, I hosted the show haha. Well almost, I just started asking questions holding the microphone up... like a TV show and sure enough, everybody else followed suit. One of the questions mostly asked was about Elmo Magalona because I'm sure everybody misses her pairing with the rap royalty's son. I felt that she was a little ahmm.. uncomfortable.

Perhaps it's probably because she's been asked of it too many times. Although when I asked her, for the record... they're still really good friends and there are no rifts between them at all. I guess, being in that love team was really special to her but she had to depart from it so she could find a way to make it in the industry on her own. She also wants to be versatile so she can go to other programs without depending on the team up. After all, she's got the talent to back it up. Maybe she just doesn't want it to be saturated, having too much might make the audience a little tired of them. It has its pros and cons but she chose to be without the pairing, she's still there after that and she's even got a new album out... was it effective? I think so. I also saw that the fans still supported her til now and they've got careers that individually have become successful.

I delved much of my questions about her album and how it came about. She's been planning about this album for a long time and she presented a couple of the tracks to GMA Records this year. She's got several compositions. Although she wasn't technically trained in writing notes and all, she's got natural talent in music which she learned from lessons and her father. She knows how to play a variety of instruments too and that helped a lot. Her compositions were all written differently, but mostly it's a combination of writing the lyrics and making the accompanying music for it. When she submitted the songs, she lets the arrangers make the changes so if the lyrics or melody won't fit, they would make the necessary adjustments to make it the best possible song for her. She doesn't mind if they change the flow of it as long as the idea is there, or if it encompasses what the lyrics meant for Julie Anne. She's also happy that she was given free hand to do this and she feels that they trust her. She hopes that now more that ever, people would continue to see her and her music better than the last time she had an album. She sang one of those heartbreaking ones which she dedicated to a past love... we melted.

She's got one heck of a year and this new album would be something that she could share for people who love her, her songs and those who just want to feel love in so many ways again. This is Julie Anne San Jose's album called Deeper. Get it out on stores now.

Bryan Termulo's "Hanggang Ngayon":
It's About Time!

Wednesday, July 18, 2012

I spent quite a number of days listening to this guy right here. He's good looking, I know. You probably have figured that by now, but just like you too... I'm a skeptic. I figured hey what the heck I'll see for my self what the fuzz is all about; so I took his CD and sent myself to listening and digesting his songs these past few days. Honestly, I was impressed.

Bryan Termulo is actually no newbie to show business. He's been here since he won a runner up post in Pinoy Pop Superstar (I can imagine you hearing that being said by Regine Velasquez- Alcasid) and several stints in SOP back in the days when it still aired. Young and raw talent doesn't come well received by the masses then but when his turn came to actually sing a couple of tracks for ABSCBN shows like "Bihag" for 100 Days to Heaven (which I absolutely LOVE!) and this new single "Dadalhin" in the hit teleserye Walang Hanggan he's getting absolutely noticed and got the big breaks he's been rooting for the past few years. All I can say is, it's about time!

It was my first time seeing Bryan which consequently also was Orange Magazine TV's Second Anniversary. The guy was very humble, very quiet. He's got that boy next door vibe. I was surprised there are still people who looked this good, yet still happily single. I guess he's just waiting for the right time in his career and this wouldn't be a bad time to break the scene and conquer the charts right?!

Bryan Termulo wants to concentrate on his genre. His brand of Pop Music has definitely touched thousands of Filipinos here and abroad. You often hear them ask "Sino kumanta nun?! ODK!" (Who sang that song?! OMG!) every single time it's played on TV. Then women fall to their knees knowing there's something that looks this good behind that song. This heartthrob has appeared in several stints on screen so a regular acting gig or movie wouldn't be impossible in the next few months. He's the one to watch and we wouldn't be surprised if he's going to be a household name pretty soon.

This is his second album entitled Hanggang Ngayon released and produced by BWB Records. He's got several originals and some covers included in this album.

1. Lagay Ng Puso
2. Nasan Ka Na
3. Kung Maibabalik
4. Nagtatanong
5. Aanhin Pa
6. Hanggang Ngayon
Bonus Tracks:
7. Dadalhin
8. Pagdating Ng Panahon

The first one called "Begin" is still out in the market and for sure it'll do good. His single Hanggang Ngayon (included in the album with the same title) will surely also win him accolades this year. When he performed that evening, we were all staring at him. We were at awe and wondering how he's this good.  At this day and age his music just sounded so fresh and inviting. You just know each track was carefully selected to appeal to a wide demographic. Bryan Termulo definitely isn't just a pretty boy, he really can sing and his talent definitely calls for something he's long been waiting for. It's his time to make it big in this industry, because he damn deserves it!

Make sure you get a copy of his new album in your favorite record bars nationwide!

Thank you so much to the good people at BWB Records, Orange Magazine TV, Pinoy Song Magazine, Moomba Bar & Restaurant, BND Hair Gallery Salon, Lifeline, Dickies and Erase Placenta for making this awesome event possible. Thank you also to Bryan for gamely answering questions from yours truly!
