Cooking with Gold Seas Tuna

Saturday, September 02, 2017

I just received a care package a couple of weeks ago and I was so glad about it. What's inside you ask? It's my new favorite brand of tuna, it's called GOLD SEAS. I was there when they launched the product and even made Bento boxes on stage. I knew it was going to be easy to prepare meals with it because trust me, I've spent several days just eating canned stuff because Mom went on a vacation... I really had to device a way to make meals with just what's inside the pantry. Not because I don't have a choice, but I don't really have time to go to the market or grocery sometimes and we have to be resourceful you know.

I love that Gold Seas has different flavors. This is probably one of the things that could differentiate them from the other brands. I personally like the one with lemon, plus the spicy one. Plus the fact that they are responsibly fished, out in the South Pacific. They are canned fresh and fast just like this blog LOL. I also like the fact that their kind of tuna is a little more dense, like really meaty, even if you are obviously eating fish.

Tuna has been known to be a very good source of protein and Omega 3. You can also do a lot of recipes with it. It's like a blank canvas, add ingredients of your favorite dishes to this one and use Tuna instead of meat or poultry. It's already a healthy dish after that. Well for me, I believe in convenience... and I actually adore just having it plainly. I don't even have to cook and find ingredients anymore because it's already cooked that way on some of the cans. Curry? They have it. Want it spicy? They have some with Pepper and Chili. I thought it was sold about the same price but I found it a little pricier at SM when I bought it, but really, even if it is, I'd still have it because it's more compact than the other brand.

For breakfast I didn't even have to heat it up. I just open the can, put it on top of toasted bread and I'm good. It made me full in just a few minutes, no rice, I could even have it in the microwave and heat it up for 2 minutes and voila!

I had the Herb and Garlic, Indian Curry and Lemon and Pepper variants for lunch, you should too! You can purchase this now in leading supermarkets and groceries nationwide!

The Affordable, The Good and Handy 555 Tuna Rice

Friday, June 17, 2016

Whoever did this is a genius!

I don't know if this is a first, but it's actually the first time that I tried something out of a doy pack of this nature. The affordable sardine and tuna brand suddenly came out with this 555 Tuna Rice just weeks ago and we're one of the few who got the chance to try it. Now I'm not really expecting this to be good because I've tried the other brand that's canned and didn't really like it. This one however tasted the same, like the 555 Tuna that I always had at home but with the exception that it's got rice. The selling point of this is that it's packed right. Now there's no more excuse to not have something to eat while you're out in the mountains, or just plain out of town.

I tasted the three flavors and find the Tuna Rice Afritada the best among the three. But the other two are not that bad and if you've loved the regular canned affordable tuna from 555, then this isn't far from that. You're basically buying this for convenience so you don't have to cook rice anymore and bring tons of cooking equipment while enjoying the sights and scenes out there.

Cooking tip: Take out the contents into a bowl and heat it up for 3 minutes in your microwave oven. It's better when it's hot. If you're out in the mountains, just boil water and turn off the heat. Put the doy pack into the water and wait for a few minutes. Cut it open and put it on your plate or just eat it straight out of the container. It's as good as you'll do it at home. Oh and please watch Bogart the Explorer in their Facebook page and see for yourself what adventures you can take this to. It's fun! It's also from the same makers of Century Tuna so you'll never feel shortchanged.

Maine Mendoza aka Yaya Dub for 555 Sardines

Saturday, October 03, 2015

It looks like the #KalyeSerye is getting better and better with the way things are going with the courting of Alden Richards and Yaya Dub Maine Mendoza.

This afternoon though, we found out about her two loves. Yes, Maine Mendoza just came out of a new commercial again this time with 555 Sardines! She wasn't choosing between two men, but the thing that had her thinking was what to have between two lovely cans of Sardines.

Let's watch it here!

In the new 555 Sardines TV commercial, Maine now is split in choosing her new found love.. Whether she goes for the classic 555 Sardines in Tomato Sauce (one of my personal favorites too) or the newer lovely flavored 555 Fried Sardines. Both are perfect with white rice and those small drinking sessions. Best of all, it's affordable. They chose Maine specifically because she's humble, attractive and funny. They also know that this persona has connected with the mass audiences and sees she's the perfect endorser to showcase their brand's top two variants!

Which one do you think Maine should choose?
