I'm a Big Shot!

Thursday, April 01, 2010

I break balls every once in a while and since it was a slow day yesterday, my friends and I decided to go to BIG SHOT... a billiards hall where all the coolest guys and gals usually meet. It is conveniently located in the same city as I am and I was a frequent customer of this establishment since I was in college. As you know, whenever we didn't have classes or if we decide to cut classes (not that I am suggesting you do the same) this is the only hobby I had that is close to being inside a bar. That was the time when I laid low on going out to drinking sprees and disco houses in the metro but it was still significantly outside of my comfort zone if I needed a break from all the hardships of studying Computer Engineering. It was also the best thing to do because all the girls there carrying their own pool cues which I find extremely hot. Oh you can't blame me right?!

I became a little addicted to it that I had to purchase one of my own. I didn't want to be the lame guy who did not have his own cue stick right?! So I got one that felt right in my hands. It had to be sufficiently long since I am a pretty tall guy. The sticks I got even have the jump cue packaged with it so it was a good deal. Filipinos are really good at this sport and continue to be at the top when it comes to any game in the billiard table. I think I also have got my share of victories here and there on small tournaments but I would not want to brag about it. I got better with it because I enjoyed the game a lot and I became passionate about it too. Anything that I put my mind into looks easy after a few days. I think the discipline and inspiration from other players from this side of the world tend to be influential on what we become as players. I think I listened to the right people and I hope I continue this hobby of mine and be a professional artist someday. I'm crossing my fingers and you should do the same. Please include the ones on your feet too ha-ha!

Maundy Hungry

I feel so Maundy on a Maundy Thursday here in the Philippines. Almost all the establishments have closed shop and you can't really go out because you only have a few places to go to on this day. My friends almost are all out of town. I feel like its a western movie when I go out of the house. There are just no dried up bushes rolling around though. But I can still feel it... though I want to dress up and do some cowboy moves it wouldn't be really a pretty sight when my bulges show up LOL!

Since I haven't been working out lately, I am feeling kinda guilty about it. I don't have a straight forward workout regimen done at home and I have been thinking more of these things I saw at marketmanila.com via a blogger friend of mine (hi bookie!):

The deal is, I haven't been eating anything since 2 days ago because I felt a diet was probably good to do since its lent. I was gorging on fish because I don't have that much seafood choices as I am allergic to shellfish. I get rashes and red stuff all over my face when I eat it so I am really starving myself. But this kinda reading is not helping me at all. I am still dreaming of that day when I got into the ultimate taste test foodie event from Sir Anton. I made myself a connoisseur in lechon LOL because I was there with 3 different suppliers that were all so awesome! I love food! CHOMP!

First Time Home Buyer Tax Credit

Just a few weeks ago, the lower house ratified the new health reform bill that would change the lives of thousands of Americans. This has been the battle cry of the current regime and they were working on it since day 1. He heard the public and he wants change to happen once he gets elected into office. I guess he did stick to his words and have done a lot more. I know how the first time home buyer tax credit has helped a lot of citizens in the past months.

Who doesn't want to have their own place to live?! Shelter has been a necessity since the Stone Age and it isn't anything different now. The situation I think has been doubly hard because of the economic struggle the market has been experiencing. I have some reservations on getting loans from institutions that do not know the real situation out there. Good thing there is available $8,000 tax credit for first time home buyers. This is a good thing for people who just got their jobs and their jobs back. It would relieve them of worrying about getting that needed home. The amount of $6,500 on the other hand will be given to those currently residing in their own homes for about 5 to 8 years. The deal is submission of binding contracts will already end in April 30 and the news is there may never be another time that this will be done. I don't want to frighten you but they are definitely going to all close this by the 30th of June. Only a handful of the general population would be able to benefit from this and if you do not think about your future now, it may be too late. Go ahead and get the first time home buyer tax credit because it's your right to have your own home!

Judo or Jiu Jitsu for me?!

Wednesday, March 31, 2010

My day has not ended yet. I have a lot of things to do before I take a nap. Actually I already took a nap and I did not finish anything yet because I was too tired I guess. Now I am watching martial arts thingy's on National Geographic. I am a little bit frustrated to learn more that what I already know and the next thing perhaps I got interested in is Jiujitsu. The history and how it got to Brazil was also indicated there. It seems when the whole Samurai era ended in Japan some immigrants who fled elsewhere ended up in Latin America and they taught this martial art form to locals. But it was still evidently very Japanese wherever you look at it. The battle between the Japanese Judo guy versus the Jiujitsu American fighter did not end up as I expected. The GI looked so weak. He never was able to make a throw or any decent move against the Japanese guy. It was all Japanese guy taking him by the Gi and controlling him right from the get go.

Oh I wanna learn these things so I could do a descent move for my UFC career. No not the ketchup, the martial art fighting thing on TV. It's real and everyone gets bludgeoned so it is my kind of sport. Or maybe this is just one of those days that I want to beat up somebody. I know it is kinda frustrating not to accomplish one of my dreams being a wushu fighter years back. Now it looks like I am only doing battles of my own in the kitchen. What a loser! LOL

I'll try this out one of these days but please stay out of my face because that is the only thing that's looks good on me plus my biceps. I haven't been working out as much as I want to but if I had a chance I would do jiujitsu and judo bar none.
