Junior Master Chef Pinoy Edition!

Friday, August 12, 2011

Judy Ann Santos - Agoncillo. She's a breath of fresh air. She's the undisputed Queen of Soap Operas in the Philippines. How can we live without her in Primetime TV? That's a question that was answered a couple of days ago when a new program was launched with her in the starring role. Unlike her other programs, this one was TOTALLY DIFFERENT and she's going to host here. Have you heard of Junior Master Chef?! Yeap! It's here in the Philippines and it's taking primetime viewing to the next level... watch how 60 Filipino kids from around the archipelago battle it out in the Philippine Master Chef kitchen this August!

Acting as judges in this prestigious program are some of the greatest Chef's that the country has ever produced. Chef Fernando Aracama and his 30 years of experience in the kitchen speaks for himself. Properly called "The Maestro" he will impart his knowledge and wisdom in the kitchen to these kids. Who can NOT know the one and only Chef Rolando Laudico? He's probably one of the pioneers in Pinoy Fusion. He's also got an ice cream flavor under his belt. Trained in America and France he'll surely be teaching these kids a thing or two about what Filipino cuisine should be in the future. Chef JP Anglo learned the best things in hawker woks and stalls in Singapore. He also is schooled in the best ones in Australia. Knowledgeable and experienced in Asian cooking, he'll tell us how we Filipinos fare in a global standpoint. These kids are very lucky they get to be with Judy Ann Santos Agoncillo and these three Chefs... they'll even tell you the stories behind their journey. Some heartbreaks in between will happen as they cut these kids into 20 pretty soon. Watch out for that!

Make sure you turn your remotes to ABSCBN Channel 2 and it's regional stations come August 20, Saturday as they launch this program with an "Appetizer: The Junior Master Chef Pinoy Edition Primer" so you get to meet the 60 young kitchen stars. If you want to see who will win a Million pesos and a lot of other things, watch "Junior Master Chef Pinoy Edition"'s regular showing on August 27 on the same channel. Capisce?! Get ready to cook!

Here are some photos from the Press Conference!

The Stylish and Bold Colors of Alcatel

Tuesday, August 09, 2011

You and I probably grew up in this nation of great men and women with a few brands dominating the texting capital of the world; the Philippines. Alcatel recently launched a couple of phone models to the delight of Android fanatics here and around the globe. Yes they have taken the step to make Android specific application capable phones available in the Philippine market. Initially they only had around 3 phone models but now they will get 10 more out there and more in the coming years.

Proud as they are they didn't actually give people a problem in the price department because they believe in value for money. Imagine an Android phone that only costs around 6K-10K++ when other brands account to the 20K mark. They also have phones that have dual sim capabilities perfect for those who switch networks. They also have a running sale available in major malls nationwide and you should definitely watch out for that!

Models that I think you should consider taking a look at are these!

Android 2.2 Froyo, 3G+HSPDA, Wifi, 2MP camera, A-GPS, MP3, FM Radio, Expandable memory. Touchscreen, Bluetoth, Push Mail and G-Sensor.

Android 2.2 Froyo, 3G+HSPDA, Wifi, 5MP camera with LED, A-GPS, Capacitive Touch, 3.5inch display, MP3, FM Radio, Touch screen, Bluetooth, Expandable Memory and G-Sensor

Android 2.2 Froyo, Wifi, 2MP camera, Dual Sim, Facebook, Twitter, MP3, FM Radio, Touch screen, Bluetooth, Expandable Memory, GPRS, EDGE and G-Sensor

What I like about these models is the memory expansion. There is room for more applications and things that would concern multimedia users plus social network capabilities. It would be boring if it didn't have those. If you compare what it does for "again" the price point, they won it already.

Harry Au General Manager Asia Pacific for Alcatel OneTouch and Darren Sy of Clearsight Corporation took time to explain what advantages you would have if you got these phones.

Of course since we do things in a different way in our Lifestyle site and we need to give you fashion overload too. Here's a mini fashion show during the launch featuring these awesome new phones from Alcatel:

And that's why you should take a look at the Stylish and Bold Colors of Alcatel!

The zEnterprise Mainframe Servers: For Larger, Smarter Computing Needs

Monday, August 08, 2011

First off, I would like to congratulate IBM Philippines for having Sang Yoong Yi as the new Country Manager for their Systems and Technology Group.
Welcome to the Philippines!

Robert "Bob" Neidig is the Program Director for Worldwide Sales Systems and Technology Group in IBM. He took quite a number of tough questions from Media and the technology bloggers. It was easy for him though because imagine what 40 years of experience in Mainframe technologies would do.

When we saw the initial release of the zEnterprise Mainframe Servers this year we thought it wasn't going to get better than that! Here goes IBM releasing another IBM zEnterprise System version that's space saving, practically 25% more energy efficient and powerful than it's closest predecessor. The IBM zEnterprise 114 mainframe server which is part of the IBM zEnterprise System line was tailor made for institutions like large banks, insurance companies or government offices that require computing power with large database requirements and mainframe capabilities. For medium enterprise corporations that forecast growth even on the IT resources side this would be a perfect addition to any armament so upgrades and eventual expansion should be a cinch.

It's remarkable that if you also compute the savings tri-annually it could dish out around80% as compared to usual consolidated servers. Those on the other hand would require you a whole football field just for space alone. Imagine how much is packed on these towers and you probably would believe how economics play in this game. Add to that the required power and logistics of having it cooled down because the temperature of that is no joke either.

This new system is quite remarkable as it predecessors; not to mention it's capability to work on a couple of platforms. It can support select System x blades that can run both Linux x86 and Windows applications in the future too. The zEnterprise 114 mainframe server can help simplify most data centers because of its ability to manage workloads across mainframes, POWER7 and System x servers. It would act like a single system eliminating redundancy or wastage in cycles making each routed traffic extremely efficient. With it's zEnterprise Blade Center Extension (zBX) corporations that utilize this can extend the mainframe qualities. It's ability to govern and manage resources and run workloads across multiple platforms can be done without any hitches. That's how efficient this new system is. Did I mention that it can run all the existing zEnterprise Operating system which includes the new z/OS V1.13 too?! It also complies with industry standards plus applies a couple of encryption features worked on by the men and women behind IBM Research and Development. So you are sure you get the best deal plus the power that you require with less overall hassle.

The zEnterprise Mainframe Servers are on a class of its own. We actually asked them a weird question (well I did) because at the level they are playing there are no more competitors and they are actually only making their existing hardware better. They were not worried about eventual profit loss because as they continue to make these enterprise level machines available for up and coming industries they would be able to still work with their existing platforms and take it up a notch. Research and Development in IBM took years and they invested a lot in it. True enough they have steadily seen growth and have lead the market eventually. They have however not stopped improving what they currently have; and that's a nice bit to start their centennial celebration isn't it?!

If you have large corporate expansions in the plans I suggest you take a look at what IBM has to offer and enjoy the joys of having your ROI's realized. The zEnterprise Mainframe Servers will surely deliver what others right now are only dreaming of. IBM also thought about interoperability and made sure corporations save economically and still be environmentally adept. They didn't just think about themselves, they thought about YOU! This is after all, smarter computing.

Tasting Mercato Centrale and Loving Citydelivery.ph!

Sunday, August 07, 2011

I was dead hungry and so tired from the run of the mill fast food joints I frequently order from home or even the office. I was in the mood for something new so I tried to look for other restaurants that had food delivery services but most of them either didn't have one or so busy at that time of the day. I was supposed to go to Mercato Centrale to get artisanal products sold there but driving from QC all the way to Taguig was a little arduous! I craved for Soy chicken or something like that and it was really something that bothered me; it meant that I really had to have one! It wasn't something that I could pass on... then the unexpected happens! (insert heavenly music here!)

Would you believe if I told you that this same guy actually delivered food for me a lot of times from a fast food company? Yeap! he even recognized me when I opened the door. He knew me right off the bat; that's how frequent I ordered because he knew me by first name (no joke!) but now he's got me covered with what I need when I wanted it SO BADLY! I got my Spicy Soy Chicken urge fixed (that's Manang's Chicken Chicken Cuts 6 pcs Mild Spicy) courtesy of the good people from Manang's Chicken of Mercato Centrale fame! Oooh I can just hear that crunchy - spicy combination hit me in a ballpark. It was meant to be; and it was so easy because it was delivered by these good people from www.CityDelivery.ph. They made life easier for me no kidding!

Manang's Chicken had me asking for more servings of rice even when I was on a diet. The crunchy texture didn't dissipate even if it's well covered in spicy soy sauce. It was still hot when it arrived; that's one good thing to have even when days are crazy (it rained the whole week in this side of the world!). City Deliver has never ever been better!

I was surprised to say the least that I can get these scrumptious treat every single day that I'd crave for it and it wouldn't be just on ordinary days. They also serve em for weekends too so try and give em a call and see your options! Or if you are online check them out at www.CityDelivery.ph and choose the location for Taguig, they have the Mercato Centrale merchants available there!

Sorry I just had to torture you with the photos. They don't really do justice so please, be in the right mind to call them thru food delivery channels or check them out online. You can even choose what particular cut of chicken you prefer and specify how many pieces you can chow down. They even have a wide selection of drinks available so you don't have to pretend you like the office vendo machine!

They even got me this City Bites pamphlet for free! That's Anton Diaz, Ms. Rache, Aidan, Joshua and the cute little bundle of joy on the cover. Uber cute kids!
They are the reason why OurAwesomePlanet.com was born!

I'm loving every bit of Mercato Centrale (http://www.mercatocentrale.ph/) and www.CityDelivery.ph! So if you guys want the best food and City Delivery services from the best ones in the industry dial 87878 and ask for the stuff you want from Mercato Centrale; you won't have to trouble yourself going all the way there... they'll come to you instead! It's worth every penny believe me! You really don't need to be just patrons of old fast food joints in the metro because there are gourmet treats you can opt for when the time comes. It's the best City Delivery service bar none! Make sure you do the right thing and get what you want when you want it!

Need I say more?!
