A Small Talk with Krissy and Ericka; Twelve: Fifty One

Krissy and Ericka is so fine! I admit I'm one of those who initially didn't know them before an interview I did for MCA a couple of months back. Not to be branded living under a rock I researched about them a bit and ended up in Youtube. This is their side of the social media planet; and judging from the response of the people I'm not surprised that they are where they are right now. Listening to one of their songs in the past, I am more than impressed with what they have to offer in their new album. Their music definitely now has become a notch higher. It still stayed very personal and you can feel something very special when they attack their covers/original songs. It's something that you should listen to when its raining, curling up by the window while holding a cup of cocoa or crying just with the left eye. It's really that comforting. Some dub them as the Philippines own M2M but in my books they are their own artists, definitely catering to the teeny boppers and love stricken ones... Krissy and Ericka will come and infect you with their brand of music. It makes you feel so positive even when you had a bad day.

Don't you just feel that the song choice was just too personal? Krissy told us that the story behind the title of their album and carrier single is that she made this song in the wee hours of the morning. Being the insomniac that she is, she felt that this song was built at that hour when she felt so alive and creative. True enough, when you listen to them sing its like they know that the story is about you... They feel what you feel and somehow somewhere it was all meant to be for you... I asked about the song choices and they said that it was a collaboration between them and MCA music. The label gave them a lot of lee way as far as the song choices were concerned and that definitely spells artistic freedom! It's like a combination of the ones they tested out on Youtube that were widely appreciated and modern ones suggested by the producers. The 4 original songs were REALLY good and the covers OMG I just can't contain myself how impressed I was with it!

Krissy and Ericka knows how blessed they are and on that day when we met them was the first time they also saw their new album fresh from the studios. The mood was ecstatic! Even I was so happy for them! All the hard work they put on this paid off because let's face it... critics like me are hard to please, but I really really LOVE it!

They are now also venturing out into the Southeast Asian Music scene as they will be on a tour to countries like Hard Rock Cafe - Jakarta in Indonesia (January 13), Drama Center Theater Singapore on the 16th and Malaysia's Bentley Auditorium on January 14th among others. Watch out also for their shows in Manila after this tour!

An Afternoon with Mikey Bustos and Chicharron ni Mang Juan!

You can't stop adoring him on his viral Youtube videos nor take away the fact that he's got to Canadian Idol as the First Filipino who made this feat! That guy is Mikee Bustos. Yes ladies and gentlemen I got the chance to interview him a couple of days ago; we asked about what he's doing, what his plans are and what he's busy with now that he's in the Philippines. Yeah you heard that right, if you have been living under a rock in the past few days... Mikey is here baby!

And he's got some great news to share with all of you!

It's about this crunchy, spicy, and oh SO ADDICTING snack you see in the photo. One bite and you'll immediately get that flavor you get from eating everyone's favorite CHICHARRON but the catch is... it doesn't have those fats and calories you get from it. I said WHAAAT?! Can this be real?!

Well to tell you honestly I've already tasted the original one before; and am still an avid fan of it. What surprised me most is the healthy benefits of munching this PINOY snack. Plus the fact that Mikey Bustos is endorsing it, and that by all means is great news!

Ms. Sheryl Bergado and the fabulous people from Universal Robina Corporation introduced to us Chicharron ni Mang Juan and its different flavors. Espesyal Sukang Paombong, Espesyal Suka't Sili and the new one which is Spicy Sisig! All that great Pinoy Pork Rind goodness without the guilt because its made from dehydrated Green Pea based ingredients flavored with vinegar bases that Filipinos absolutely love! Now it's so easy to just grab and bite on these things without even dipping them and making your fingers smelly LOL!; because they've already done it for you! Now isn't that too easy?! :)

Mikey was so nice, he even showed us a couple of songs he did for Canadian Idol. Oh boy oh boy Mikey Bustos can DEFINITELY sing! Check out this video, all serious songs! I was waiting for some tutorials but this is WAAAAYY better!

See?! He's a very talented lad with a very promising career in the Philippines. He'll be staying a couple more days to do a couple of shows and appearances so watch out for that! It'll be a blast I tell you!

Oh and there's this awesome interactive web musical that I've told you about where Mikey will also be playing a lead from. It's called Prison Dancer and oh boy it's something amazing!

Imagine this production, the dance numbers, the songs they'll be singing... for sure Mikey's dream of Filipino World Domination will come true! I also heard from the grapevine that he'll be appearing in some US shows pretty soon. Now how's that for a show exclusively on Youtube?! :)

From hereon, you will never look at Chicharron the same way again. It's going to be Mang Juan for every Juan! You better get your hands on them so you can sit back, relax and enjoy the 12 webisodes coming out in Spring 2012!

Music, Education and Inspirations

There are some things in life that I want to achieve. Although it is pretty late to wish for it, I want to become a musician. I know for a fact that it wouldn't be achieved by merely learning from my peers or just doing exercises on paper. A few days from now I'll be interviewing one of the most prolific artist/composer the country has ever produced and I want to draw inspiration from what she did to make it to the top. If you also have some questions for her it would be really nice to leave a comment on this article and I'd personally ask her about it. I would like to also see if it would be feasible for me to get into escuelas de musica and get me a course or two. Getting educated in the most reputable schools and finishing something in this field would guarantee employment and opportunities that we would never even dream about.

Where do I start? Where do we draw inspiration from? Would it be hard for an ordinary person to penetrate a saturated music industry? What do you think is the biggest break you ever got from being in the recording industry for years? What do you think made you famous and what kept you stay there? I've got a lot of questions that remain unanswered but I'd like to have them at least be discussed with someone who already made it big. Wouldn't that be just inspiring?!

My Binondo Girl the DRAGON Finale!

Watching My Binondo Girl has been a habit for me and my relatives at home. It's like automatic that before I leave for work or just plainly dinner; it should always be at the time when Jade comes in the picture. We're not necessarily addicted because I know of some people who record this series and play them all day, but we are hooked just like the rest of the households in the Philippines. It was a great thing I got invited to the My Binondo Girl Dragon Finale just this last weekend. Check this out!

Just like me, and hundreds that flocked SM Skydome that afternoon you can see the eagerness to see the stars of the series and the little perks in between. You sort of kinda wish what they do in the show is something that happens in real life.

Phomela Barranda was there to cover the event for The BUZZ. They even had remote live interviews in the venue. It was finally some place that they could confirm things like if Xian Lim is courting Kim Chiu... is he? =) What do you think Team Jandy?! =)

The cast which includes those who are in Jolo Revilla's Store and Amethyst were there picking out lucky audience members and having them play a couple of games on stage. It was fun listening to them utter out Chinese phrases. =)

They thanked those who have supported My Binondo Girl and said to watch out for the show in its last two weeks of airing. The dubbed this as the Dragon Finale!

Before the rest of the cast came out they had these awesome Dragons and Lions doing their thing plus a long one with around 15 men lifting and roaming around the venue to the beat of the drums. It was really nice, see the intricate details on the Dragon head? Ain't it pretty?!

Then came out Richard Yap aka Papa Chen. To my surprise, the fans just went wild upon seeing this guy. It must be that magic of seeing the pair up with Ms. Aiai and the romantic stories in between. The last time they had a kissing scene together so everyone was eagerly awaiting their love story in the series.

Ms. Cherry Pie Picache, Papa Chen and Ms. Aiai on this bit was interviewed by Toni Gonzaga. I must say, they even kissed on the lips to the delight of the audience... even if the real Mrs. Chen was in the audience!

Fans went wild at the sight of Kim Chiu and Xian Lim! Cute couple!

They didn't escape the questions when the live feed from the BUZZ started. They were asked point blank about Xian courting Kim Chiu... and a resounding YES came out of his mouth. Kim just smiled so much after hearing that and said "Sobrang nakakababae" to that statement. Yes ladies and gentlemen, Xian is courting Kim Chiu and he is looking forward to continue this thing they have even after filming My Binondo Girl.

Hello! Diabetes! LOL!

Comedy Concert Queen Ms. Aiai gave this crowd a great song and dance number! She really gave it her all! What a performance!



Ms. Cherry Pie Picache and Richard Yap sang a love song too.

Not to be outdone this new loveteam of Zeny and Papa Chen just was the best part of the show. Everyone was rooting for them on this bit and screaming more for a kiss!
Ms. Aiai gladly obliged hehe!

Veteran actress Ms. Gina Pareno (clad in Betty Boop ensemble) and the cast invited everyone to watch My Binondo Girl in its last two weeks of airing!

Xian Lim serenades the crowd with a couple of songs with him playing the keyboards himself. So talented I'm proud of this former UE Red Warrior!

Kim Chiu looks so sweet she also sang something from Rihanna if I'm not mistaken. The upbeat tempo and new song was well appreciated by the crowd. She looked so pretty in her red number, her shoes were deadly too!

We've got a lot to look forward to in these last two weeks of My Binondo Girl, don't change that channel because there will be more surprises and twists to the story. You'll surely love the cast all over again and be excited as some of the characters try to do some things that you'll never expect. Is it time for revenge?


Watch out for that! My Binondo Girl The Dragon Finale will surely take you to the edge of your seats! Last two weeks, so you better watch it!
