"Just Roasted Coffee" at Bo's Coffee!

Tuesday, April 24, 2012

Coffee among a lot of things is an addiction for me. It's the only thing that can perk me up on a sleepy evening in the office where I need to be productive and awake. I frequent this particular one when they had a branch in the SM North Edsa Gardens a couple of years ago. I worked in the Eastern part of Manila so I didn't get the chance to go out that much in SM or Trinoma's area. A lot has definitely changed and I was so glad to have had the chance to see what's in store for Bo's Coffee. Yes, it's that quaint brand which has its roots from Cebu. They have a new branch in SM City Annex so it was the perfect time to get to know a couple of things about them.

Sitting right across me on the table was an Amaretto Biscotti. It's one of their newest drinks and it was pretty much second nature for me to ask about it. I know what biscotti means because I have learned to cook Italian, I know what Amaretto means (because I mix some drinks and foodstuff with almond) but why in a beverage?

Well, I got to say... it's quite a wonderful concoction. You have your taste of coffee and get that crunchy- savory biscuit texture. Not too sweet as a matter of fact. They paired this up with one the all time favorite Super Moist Chocolate Cake!

I actually tried to save some of it for later but to my surprise I finished this in a few minutes. They've got a hefty battle in their hands as far as cakes go in the industry. This one's extra nice because they care about details, that's 's a plus in my books!

They've got a lot of things in their shelves and I bet you probably should take a look at some of the other things there as well to enjoy your coffee break. I specifically would probably try the cookies and sandwiches which I heard they make a fresh batch of everyday.

Some of their stores actually serve breakfast all day everyday so if you are up for a HOT hearty meal then you can opt for that instead!

I see a very promising Philippine based business flourishing whenever I see Bo's Coffee now. It'll continue to challenge the world's best with their brand of coffee and best of all, its getting the attention that they need. Tip: Make sure you try out their Froccino's, I've heard raves about it and I'm sure it wouldn't disappoint!

Bo's Coffee

Bo's Coffee from its humble beginnings at the Ayala Center Cebu kiosk was just a dream for Mr. Steve Benitez, Founder and CEO of Bo's Coffee. Nobody thought they would actually be this successful but they all attribute everything to the quality of coffee and food they serve. The Manila and Cebu branch actually source their coffee locally (Cavite) so upon roasting the beans they have a definite time frame before grinding and ending in your cup. Everything's fresh and they make it a point to show you how they prepare everything from scratch. Their philosophy calls for "Only the Freshest" "Just Roasted Coffee" goodness.

Some of our Blogger friends and the good people from Bo's Coffee, Ms. Anna Francesca Rosales - Marketing Officer (2nd from left), Ms. Ana Liza Benitez - Asst. Marketing Manager (3rd from left), Mr. Jancy Seva -Quality Assurance for Luzon (far right) and Mr.Jojo Cayabyab - Operations Manager (2nd to the right). Also on the shot is Ms. Joy Reynaldo, Chief Navigator of Magnetic North Enterprises (beside Mr. Cayabyab).

Their thrust for this year is expansion. Together with their franchise options I'm sure they'll have a lot of other stores here in Manila and elsewhere in Luzon. They have high visibility now in the islands and other Visayan provinces. They've got one of the best commissaries in the Philippines and they have continued to provide quality food products and services. Bo's Coffee will surely be near you, sooner than you think!

Awesome Earth Day Celebrations at NUVALI

Monday, April 23, 2012

Today is EARTH DAY and what great way to start off celebrating our planet's birthday but by world class talents and reminding everyone else to do their part.

The stage was grand, as grand as the cause they are fighting for in NUVALI.
Amid the summer heat that smoldered the afternoon and the cool gentle breeze that evening, crowds gather for one glorious night of music and entertainment for a worthy cause. With names like Mel Villena and his band (remember singing bee?), Brigada, Juris Fernandez, Zia Quizon, Jed Madela, Kyla and Christian Bautista on the list I wouldn't be surprised about the turnout that evening. I personally haven't seen some of them sing live so this really was a treat! Not to mention GOOD for Mother Earth because it'll surely inculcate how to live responsibly and take care of the environment.

At Evoliving Center Dockside, Nuvali, Laguna we witnessed these great artists perform and say a few words about Green Freedom. A kid also had some excerpts before they performed indicating how the youth has to take part in making this world a better place. Nuvali is really different. They really take what EVO LIVING into heart and make it happen.

I was really impressed by Juris Fernandez! I LOVE HER as much as I LOVE Mother Nature now!

Zia Quizon, I like her too. Even if her style of music is so different from Mom ZsaZsa and sister Karylle she's definitely so bad ass if I may say so.

The place had so many things in store for nature lovers and advocates such as the Green Market where a lot of organic-nature themed products were sold to the general public. There were also some gardening activities at the Greens and Patches section of Nuvali. Bird watching lessons were also taught by the Wild Bird Club on the Wild Life and Bird Santuary at Nuvali. Green projects like recycling materials for workshops in building boats and other things were also done in the 2 day celebration. They have so many buildings and structures that are nature sensitive. It was a perfect way to celebrate something so environmentally apt! The day after, there was also a Run and Bike race for the benefit of the Sta. Rosa Watershed which is a project by Nuvali and the local government. It's so nice to see the private and public sector working like this. I think they are subconsciously trying to change the way people think. It's a good thing!

Remember the NUVALI Dirt Bike Weekend? They'll have more activities like that soon!
For sure there will be more outdoor sports activities lined up so make sure you also join the NUVALI Sports Camp which will run until October of this year. Their Football Clinic will also be administered by Philippine Azkals Chiefy Caligdong plus the Baseball Clinics with Pureplay and Triathlon via the Trimac Team. For more details about that you should contact NUVALI for their events at 09175ASKNUV(275688). Or you may simply visit their website at www.NUVALI.ph

"EDGEWORKS "A Series of Workshops with Edge of Light

Sunday, April 22, 2012

I have passion for fashion photography. In years of learning how to make the legwork before executing it I needed to learn a lot of things and of course it didnt come overnight. I was lucky that in this day and age there are masters willing to share their expertise. I was blessed to have attended Xander Angeles' workshop a couple of years ago and yes; it has drastically changed my idea of what photography should be from a "fashion photography" standpoint. I needed to learn the basics, then learn some OTHER things because the art continues to evolve. I had to see more clearly why he had gorgeous shots and mine was mediocre to say it nicely. In the real world, it can be literally categorized as weird + awesome + gorgeous + sexy... But in his philosophy it's just different. That's exactly what I found out with my Sensei Xander Angeles.

Xander Angeles in action during the Iphoneography Workshop
Xander during the Elite Manila - Fashion Academy Open House
Xander Angeles during the Boudoir Workshop
Practical and actual application of theoretical things learned after the workshop.

Good thing they have a series of workshops throughout May and it's promptly called "EDGEWORKS "A Series of Workshops with Edge of Light"".

Classes will be Sundays ; 9AM-6PM

Fashion Photography | May 6

Creative Lighting Workshop | May 13

Swimwear Shoot | May 20

Boudoir Shoot | May 27

You'll be able to learn a lot of things. He'll teach you how to deconstruct photos and how to use lighting effectively. He also gives practical advise on experimenting with different light sources. That's what I really enjoyed that time!

Though the batch today will be doubly LUCKY, aside from the chance to learn from him... they'll get lots of perks and freebies from camera organizations. They also have the chance to take 20% - 40% off the regular price on some of the wares as they will be directly selling them during the workshop.

All the photo shoots will be inclusive of world class ELITE Models, MUA and Stylist, a workshop certificate, official Edge of Light shirt, food and drinks!

It's a once in a lifetime chance to learn from experienced photographers like him. It did wonders for some of my shots. Now it's your turn!

CHAMPION's "Walk Away From Stains" Fashion Show!

Saturday, April 21, 2012

Did you know that there was a Fashion show that happened in Mindanao Avenue last March 18, 2012?

I really missed it but there were some details I got from friends who were able to witness it at the newest Super8 Supermarket branch in Visayas Avenue. Nobody knew it would happen right smack in the middle of the supermarket, but just imagine gorgeous models and clothes strutting isle number 1 to 32. It would have been great to experience that! Their task was to convey a simple message, they would need to show how CHAMPION DETERGENT protects their clothes from stains!

Strutting down the catwalk was not just ordinary clothes, it was all made by THE one and only Randy Ortiz; directed by noted Fashion Show Director Jackie Aquino. Do you remember the gorgeous gowns I shot from Philippine Fashion Week? It was all Randy Ortiz, now picture that dress up close and its exactly the feeling shoppers had that afternoon! When the clock struck 3:30pm Maroon 5's Moves Like Jagger suddenly just loudly played and out came models clad in Randy Ortiz made clothes overlayed with tailor made plastic. Models suddenly run amuck and sprayed ketchup, mustard, cheese and mayo with each other. Up the ramp, they simply took it off and eliminated those stains showing some of the best pieces this country has ever seen! The crowd was stunned and didn't realize it was all happening for real. Your champion bar and detergent simply wiped away stains in a jiffy!

As if that wasn't enough they did it again after an hour now mustering a BIGGER crowd. Together with the supermarket's crew and cheers patrons had the chance to pose and take photos with the models later on in a superb showing of force at SUPER8 Supermarket! CHAMPION got its message across and everyone enjoyed the afternoon! I know I would too if I was there! An unexpected third one happened but I didn't get to catch that as well. But its alright, i got my CHAMPION Detergent at home... Maybe I'lll try modeling around my yard later this evening! Haha! :)

You can also do the same and get it too, check out CHAMPION detergent products in your favorite supermarkets nationwide! Congratulations also to Super8 for being the only supermarket to ever pull off a stunt like this in the Philippines!
