Sure Blockbuster: Kimmy Dora and the Temple of Kyeme!

Wednesday, June 13, 2012

I don't know anybody who's not excited to watch this! I love Eugene Domingo. You can ask my friends how many times we've met after all these years just to see her movies. Each time she makes one there's like an automatic reunion of some sort. I'm not surprised though.

Did you know Kimmy and Dora Go Dong Hae is back? Yeap! Now it's Kimmy Dora and the Temple of Kyeme, they are holding the premier today. Tomorrow, we will surely hound the cinemas and watch this movie!

Imagine these people traveling all the way to South Korea just to bring you a bigger and better KIMMY DORA experience! They worked with people who couldn't even understand them. The lead star Eugene Domingo laments that she even talked to them in Filipino because the Korean group they worked with had basicall ZERO English skills. It was not that hard though to work with them because they understood one thing... the passion to make movies. It was a great experience even though slightly hard because of the weather. It all paid off said Director Joyce Bernal. The places they went to in South Korea were all cinematic she says and the Korean crew definitely had so much fun with them because they were doing something different. "Masyado silang serious, kasi sila gusto nila work lang samantalang kami we were having fun! Iba daw ang experience working with Filipinos" says Bb. Joyce Bernal. They shot scenes in Gwanghwamun Plaza, Cheonggyecheon, Myeongdong, Namsan Tower, and Doseonsa. When Ms. Eugene Domingo was asked about a role she wanted to do after this, she said "Porno, kung sino yung available ng araw na yun tas bukas ulet.." then we all laughed! She seriously wants to do a travel show in the future. She's doing something she loves now which is a modern take on Nora Aunor starer Bona. She's so glad to be back on theater. You should definitely watch out for this movie though!

If the trailer didn't convince you, check out this KIMMY DORA Music Video!

Kudos to the people who made these gorgeous outfits for both Kimmy and Dora Go Dong Hae during the film, the photo shoot and the music video! Each outfit seemed delicately made for Ms. Eugene Domingo. This movie is THAT GOOD! BIGTIME!

Moi Morcampo who's got a new screen name "Moi Bien" and plays Elena Kimmy and Dora's maid, Alodia Gosiengfiao will play as "Sang Kang Kang" the ghost girl who's been hunting the sisters (she's got a lot of fans in Korea believe it or not!). The Marriage of Music, Art and Fashion: Freeway X Levi Celerio Launch!

Tuesday, June 12, 2012

Levi Celerio was such an inspiration when I was a kid. I always watched documentaries about this noble man who turned simple things like a leaf into works of art/music. His numerous compositions were genius! I couldn't find anyone who would make Filipino music the same way again. It was so good FREEWAY included him in the coveted people who are in the ranks of the ones they pay homage to. I got the chance to attend their launch a few days ago.

The mood was so great and I love how Freeway makes art and fashion combine. It has been pretty successful with national artists in the past and why not include one of the best historical icons in Philippine culture right? It was so nice to see people from the same industry and Levi Celerio's own kids were in the audience. This night was absolutely perfect!

I love the owner and fashionistas all over Metro Manila that came and represented that evening. It was something a guy like me would look forward to.

Seeing one of Freeway's very first model and prettiest faces was a bonus. G Toengi is back in the country for good. I hope some of you have seen her kids, they are adorable!

Asia's Queen of Songs Ms. Pilita Corrales was actually Levi Celerio's friend. She also talked about how wonderful it was to work with a genius like him. Imagine making a song virtually in minutes. Did you know he made around 4000+ songs in his lifetime?

Ms. Pilita also sang some of his greatest hits. I particularly love the instance where she invited some of the kids to participate while she was singing... it made perfect sense who would eventually LOVE Filipino music. They were such a sight to behold, imagine these kids appreciating Levi Celerio's work at an early age. The pieces that were also made to pay homage to the national artist was no joke either. They were all works of art!

The pieces were simple interpretations of Levi Celerio's songs. I love the ones with the stars and music sheets on them. There were even pendants that you can use to make music too! I love the CILINDRO! I love the jackets, trench coats and dresses. It was so nice to see his songs come to life! I'm sure when he's alive and saw these things paying homage to him, he'll be one proud man.

Levi Celerio's kids were so proud of their Father. Seeing how they react with the things done by Freeway to honor their Father was priceless. They were so proud of him. They've got their own lives now but they would never forget how much of an inspiration HE was while they were growing up. I couldn't imagine the amount of music that they probably have inside their homes. Not to mention the lyrics that were like poems in our ears!

Congratulations to FREEWAY! A lot of other brands may have tried to do this but they failed at one thing in particular, FREEWAY not only loved what they were doing... they knew right from the start that it involved the history and family of the artist to get a connection to the collection. That right there is the right way to pay homage to these people. It would be futile if you can't get your point across. This should be a lesson learned for those who would want to go through FREEWAY's path. I'm sure there will be more of our national artists to be honored by this great brand!

Solving Hunger The WFP Way!

Monday, June 11, 2012

You know what, I've been thinking about this all week. I watched something on TV a couple of days ago and this was a video of KC Concepcion but shown on GMA7. This I think is part of their UN WFP Programs in Mindanao. I couldn't believe how hard it is to live there until I saw people literally needing a couple of kilograms of rice to survive in that area. Malnutrition was seen everywhere, where kids are mostly affected. Those who live in conflict areas, or those who were just so poor they couldn't afford to buy food or fend for themselves.

Some were eating root crops, unripened bananas that they boil around an hour or more just to make sure its soft to eat/edible. Life is too hard and these people would not survive on the land alone, they cannot plant on land because they had to transfer every time there is security problems in the area. Even though they have places to buy rice and other things, they just don't have that amount of money to do so. It's one of the most expensive places to buy rice at 100+ a kilo. In Manila it usually costs half of that. Because of the scarcity, places like these charge that much. It was injustice personified. Even though I find it inexcusable, there shouldn't be a hunger in this day and age in the Philippines. I unfortunately felt it REALLY existed there.

This is a thing that can be easily solved through the programs of WFP. Please don't hesitate to check out this particular page and see how you can help.
