Celebrate Oktoberfest in Sofitel Manila!

Wednesday, October 03, 2012

1

I was so busy in the office when the press briefing for this event happened and I surely regret (bigtime!) not being able to cover it for all the wrong and right reasons. Filipinos and their love for beer just spans years now and celebrating Oktoberfest even if we are in the tropics isn't really quite new to us because we have long embraced the culture, the food and the drinks of their country; a feat that even the Germans know so well.

Oktoberfest for me is quite precious. I know for a fact that this started hundreds of years ago when a Royal couple got married in Germany. A wedding celebration of sorts that since they had so much fun, they made it into an annual treat for everyone!

In the Philippines, its been a long time since we started celebrating the same. Just imagine, they are preparing their mugs over at Sofitel Philippine Plaza as they and The German Club Manila celebrate the "74th Oktoberfest Manila!". This event will happen at the newly -refurbished Harbor Garden Tent on October 19 to 20, 2012. I saw how they built this tent a couple of months ago (beside the bay area almost on the MOA view side) and it looks so surreal now! Just put on your own Dirndl or Lederhosen and you're ready to party!

Sofitel Philippine Plaza even got special room rates for Oktoberfest so make sure you stay a night or two in the hotel and get ready to fill up and start drinking up Germany's best beers, plus the Bavarian party we've all been waiting for!

For tickets and reservations please contact the German Club Manila at (+632) 817.3552 and 818.3552 or email at germanclub@germanclub.ph. For room reservations, please call (632) 551.5555 extensions 1991 to 1994 or simply email them at H6308@sofitel.com. For Spiral reservations (yes you heard that right!), please call (632) 8326988 or email at fbreservations@sofitelmanila.com.

The Greenwich Crispy Glazed Chicken!

It was a nice evening indeed when my blogger friends and I attended a grand Rockeoke Night once again at Greenwich! It's something I was looking forward to these past few days because they launched something so good (saw it in my timeline) I was able to take a bite of it when we just came in, not that I was hungry; but it was because I just had to have my first bite of it! I can't wait!

How about crunchy breaded Onion Rings for starters? It was a nice thing to chow down on these gorgeous golden fried onion rings dipped in tangy garlicky mayo whilst sipping on my Buco Pandan flavored Pearl Coolers. It's one of the nicest things to have on a barkada meet! (Barkada size is just 89 bucks!)

Or how about this?

French Fries! But there's a twist! It's Pizza flavor!... it's hot (piping hot because they just took it out of the cooker!) and savory because it's thick and perfect to the bite. Not one of those small fries you often see in other fastfood joints. Quite lovely with a spurt of ketchup definitely!

Thin crust, layers of cheese, cheese, cheese, cheese, cheese, cheese and cheese. This is the one and only 7 Cheese Pizza! This divine play on the thin crust pizza is just to die for! If you want more, there's always an Overload Pizza as an option! Well, if you are up for it maybe you can get both instead!

Their best pizza just has so much love in it! All the meat pieces, fresh bell peppers, onions, olives and layers of cheese to make it extra special! This only costs 315! Unbelievable!

Then it was time for the pièce de résistance!

Covered in crunchy layers of breading and that awesome sweet sauce injected that made that full bodied flavor seep in all throughout the meat; this is their new product called Crispy Glazed Chicken. Kids like me (of course I am!) would absolutely go nuts biting into this flavorful chicken only Greenwich can think of. It's not like those run of the mill chicken pieces that when you finish biting off the breading and the rest of the chicken just goes bland. This one had flavor, into the bones! I love it, I absolutely love it! I had more chicken than the rest of the guys who were there for this scrumptious pieces of chicken goodness!

If you had this as a meal, it'll only cost you 79 bucks! Now if that isn't gonna convince you that it's better then you better do the next best thing and believe a couple of people who tried this already. The Kikay Barkada Chico Garcia, Delamar Arias and Gino Quillamor swears this is their chicken of choice. Even Ateneo's big 3 Nico Salva, Keifer Ravena and Greg Slaughter attests to this awesome chicken goodness that you can never go wrong with; and you can get it at a very affordable price!

Should I still make an effort to tell you that you need to try this at your local Greenwich branch nationwide? I'm sure I don't have to, because you'll get your family, friends and close barkada a treat that they will never forget... memories will still be better if you make it a habit going to Greenwich; that's for sure!

Artista Academy Top 6 Announced!

Tuesday, October 02, 2012

When I went to the studios last Saturday, it was pandemonium. I've never seen so many teens and not so teems cheer and yell their lungs out to prove they are worthy to support their idols during the Artista Academy performance night. This was more important than the other nights they were here because they needed to prove worthy to belong to the honor roll. Yes, this is the last time you'll see some of them and remember the ones they already kicked out of the competition? They were actually asked to perform again so they can also vie for the last two spots. The other 4 (called Honors List) went to Vin Abrenica, Akihiro Blanco, Sophie Albert, Chanel Morales. Once on the top 6 they will be moving forward to the last part of the competition vying for the Best Actor and Actress. The male and female winner will get 20 Million Pesos worth of cash and prizes!

Hosting the show was the dashing Cesar Montano. I feel he doesn't age at all!

The fans went wild each time their bets were called. This group had me shoot them a couple of times as you can see. They had banners, posters, drums and a custom cheer even! It was a mix mostly of tweeners, teens and their parents too!

The first 4 students to get in the Honors List was Chanel, Sophie, Vin and Aki. They did a song and dance number of course!

They were pretty good! You won't really hear yourself when you are in the audience area because it was like UAAP noise levels on the bleachers.

Benjo, Malak, Mark and Shaira would have to battle it out with Chris, Jon, Brent, Marvelous, Stephanie and Nicole. The face off will be judged by Direk Mac Alejandre, Ms. Jelli De Belen, Ms. Lorna Tolentino and Ms. Wilma Galvante.

And they gave it their all!

Out of these guys and gals, the number of Shaira Mae kinda stood out. It was something different and unorthodox and the judges loved it!

Even Cesar Montano himself had a hard time choosing LOL!

Then they got their microphones and sang their hearts out!

They all did well. I like Brent and Marvelous' performance though.

Then a documentary was showed on screen, that was for their acting portion of the exams.

Then later they had to choose who will get the last 2 slots...

They got these guys eliminated.

Then a wonderful thing happened! Mark Neumann got chosen to be one of the last two who will be part of the top 6!

Then the last two, only one will be chosen among these girls.

Then it was announced. Shaira Mae got chosen.

Ladies and gentlemen, your Top 6 students who qualified for the honors list! Vin Abrenica, Akihiro Blanco, Mark Neumann, Shaira Mae, Chanel Morales and Sophie Albert!

Congratulations Mark and Shaira! Give your best okay?! ;)

Who will be the Best Actor and Best Actress?

Find out as they vie for the title as the first Artista Academy winners... make sure you watch and stay tuned in Channel 5 9:30PM on weekends and watch their adventures daily Mon-Fri @ 11:45AM & 9:00PM!
