AVIDA Towers Centera: 3D Street Painting Festival!

2 days of the hot afternoon sun, I don't know who can actually weather that but I'm impressed with what I saw a few days ago. The place, was the promising Avida Centera situated right at the heart of Mandaluyong City. The buildings are still under construction but they have been holding events there since its inception.This time, it's the 3D Street Painting Festival! 

20 entries from different colleges and universities in Manila vied for the 75,000 peso prize money for the theme "PASKO  NATIN" and as you can see these works of art are no ordinary! Each was made to look life like as if everything was being lifted off the ground. The judges themselves had a hard time choosing from the entries because it also was different when photographed. You had that full 3D effect when seen on the PC rather than in real life.

Contestants AC from UP Diliman, PUP Katha Art Kits, Art Men PUP Manila, UPFA, PUP, Linya from PUP, FEATI Art Group, Guhit Visual Arts from PUP, Pabida from UP Diliman, Creative Arts Group from PUP, PUP BSID, Dakila Art Teams, ITeam, Lakandayang from PUP, TATSPROOF, MAN-O-WAR from UP Diliman, UNO, ARTCOLORES from URS Angono, Team Pintados, and OBRA LIKHA from EARIST made their entries the day before and most of hem spent overnight just to make sure they finish the projects before judging commenced. The judges were no ordinary too because some of them have work installations outside the Philippines, from esteemed broadsheets and admired artists themselves. It was so nice they looked at each entry in its entirety and made sure they look at it with 3D in mind. Soon enough they were able to choose who won and got third place (who gets 30 thousand pesos), Second Place (who gets 50 Thousand Pesos!) and the Grand Prize who will receive 75 Thousand Pesos!

I was a little disappointed not all schools like my alma mater UE didn't join the competition because I'm pretty sure they can give these guys a run for the prize. PUP had a lot of entries because they've got a whole organization supporting them on this contest alone. The veterans even made legwork to partner up with other newbies so they get the chance to experience the same enthralling work these artists put into one work of art. They learn in the process and even get needed experience to make it in this industry. Just like AVIDA Centera, they hone these talented individuals and make them better citizens through community activities that one should expect while living in their condominiums soon!

Congratulations to UPFA composed of students from UP Diliman for winning the 75,000 peso prize pot. You have a great career ahead of you now. Last year's winners had several TV guestings and work offered to them by multinational companies and started a very lucrative career so it doesn't just stop here. These guys were even first timers and they were so happy to have won the 3D Street Painting festival! Oppa Gangnam Style's PSY - Live in Manila!

Yes you heard that right! PSY the artist who popularized the dance craze Oppa Gangnam Style will be performing live here in Manila, the Philippines. He's also going to have this concert at the Mall of Asia grounds. They just confirmed this a few weeks ago, just a little before the holidays. That's Ntertainment and Ovation Productions has been preparing since then because they know this will be the biggest one this country has ever seen!

Producer Joed Serrano says they are so lucky to have been able to book him for the Philippines and adds we deserve to see world class performances in our country. He also told us that there will be several artists slated to perform with PSY on December 20, 2012. The show is going to be long, all star cast, mashups would be expected. There will be 500 peso Gen Ad tickets so masses can afford it. They are expecting around 40-50 thousand people. 

There will be no emcees and it will be a full concert and a perfect gift for Christmas. This season, we need to enjoy and come together with our family. Filipino artists such as Anne Curtis, Vhong Navarro, Wally and Jose, Pokwang, Chocolate, Pooh, K Brosas, Ate Gay and Ms. Aiai delas alas will be there to represent the Philippines. PSY will be arriving here on the 18th and they will try to arrange several TV guestings. This is Directed by JV Sampedro. Make sure you don't miss seeing this on Thursday and dance with PSY GANGNAM STYLE. Part of the proceeds will go to charity and it was PSY who wanted this to happen. Wendy's Got Something BIG: The BBQnator!

College life wouldn't be complete if you didn't have your friends over at Wendy's. That's where we usually stay for meetings and gatherings but when I went there a few days ago it was something to celebrate about. It was for something big, tasty and juicy. It was perfect for the Filipino palate because this particular one was researched and designed in the Philippines. I'll tell you about that later, let's start by showing you things to crave for first!

Taco Salad - Laid on a bed of fresh chopped lettuce leaves are these golden nacho pieces smothered with tasty chili that's got beans, onions, beef and chili peppers. Great protein servings in one bowl that's affordable and quite a crowd favorite.

Onion Rings - A relatively new item on their menu, these real deal onions covered in thick crunchy batter was just launched November 30th. Using Yellow Spanish Onions as base, you can't compare these with the other Onion Rings out in fast food shops that are completely artificial. It's what sets them apart from other brands because they make this and the other products FRESH daily.

Natural Cut Fries with Sea Salt -  Think about French fries gone natural then sprinkled with a little sea salt after frying and you've got a staple partner for burgers and drinks. The crunchy exterior with natural skins on would still make you love the same old fries you enjoy from way back then. Now it's healthier and better than ever. I don't want to weird you out but I always dip this in my Frostee, one item that I do not forget to order when I'm in Wendy's!

Iced Tea - You can go full Iced Tea or try the light one but as with most meals I've ordered from Wendy's this is a must! Because if we don't drink anything after what we're going to eat after this, we'll do the gag reflex thing haha!

It's got 2 thick and juicy quarter pound beef patties, 6 strips of tasty smoked bacon, 2 slices of American cheese, sweet and smoky hickory barbeque sauce that's topped with crunchy real yellow Spanish onion rings. How in the world can you resist that?!

The Joyful Journey of Tess Salientes

Maritess Salientes, a pianist and composer would once again make her mark as she serenades Manila with her band composed of great artists Dave Harder, Jorge San Jose, and Jeannie Tiongco also called Joyful Jazz. Together with Charito and Andrew Fernando, they are slated to perform in Martini's Bar at posh Mandarin Hotel this December 12, 19 and 26, 2012 from 7:30 - 9:30 PM. They also have another one in historical Tap Room at the Manila Hotel which will happen on the 21st from 9:00 - 11:45 PM. You will see performances of the classics, some standards and new songs lined up with their repertoire to the delight of Manila's night crowd and romantics.
