The Currency by Vista Residences

Friday, June 28, 2013

A few days ago, I went back to CAFE 1771 to sit down and talk to these nice people from Vista Residences. Ms. Beth Kalaw Division Head of VRI HRB, Ms. Emma Amores VRI's Corporate Communications Head, Ms. Michelle Barrientos the incoming VRI HRD Corp Communications Head, Ms. Wendy Waterhouse who heads The Currency Project and Ms. Patty Delupio, Head Trainee of The Currency Project were all there to answer some questions about their new high rise residential project right at the heart of the Ortigas Center business district in Pasig City.

This world class project is just one of the brainchild properties of realty giant Vista Residences. They've gone from small housing projects, residential lots and townhouses... but now they've gone and did something bold. They now build skyscrapers with condo units fit for yuppies, businessmen, their families or people who want to live it up! This is the perfect investment for those who prefer prime properties in Manila because it's in one of the most convenient locations in the country. It's got malls, international shops, restaurants, activity centers and the best places in Metro Manila to find what you want, when you need it. Backed by 30 years in the real estate industry, the Villar group promises you 2,015 square meters of grand corporate, commercial and residential spaces up in 36 world class designed floors, glass panels and an award winning design having won prestigious BCI Asia's Top 12 Buildings in 2011. You can see it in Dona Julia Vargas, F. Ortigas Jr. Avenue and Garnet Road. Construction is in full swing and is expected to be completed in 2015!

Investing in The Currency will surely be one of the smartest things you can probably do in this lifetime, so think about it... give Vista Residences a call and ask about The Currency. Visit them at U/G Worldwide Corporate Center, EDSA Corner Shaw Boulevard, Mandaluyong City. Phone them by calling 8888888 local 88 or hop on their website www.vistaresidences.com.ph. It's worth it!

The Perfect Breakfast at CAFE 1771

Thursday, June 27, 2013

One of Manila's finest secrets is in the heart of the Ortigas business district and only a few have frequented the place but once they do, they have to come back for more. Cafe 1771 is that quaint shabby but chic restaurant that foreign and locals go to for the perfect breakfast, lunch and dinner. I was schooled in what seems to be one of the best mornings in my life. This happened a few days ago at El Pueblo, Ortigas Center Pasig. Feast your eyes on this!

Strips of Chicken, Pork cooked Adobo style, taken apart then cooked with hot Fried Rice then topped with a whole sunny side up egg and a serving of fresh red tomatoes on the side. This is their "Adobo Flakes Fried Rice". It's a little tangy, with just the right amount of saltiness. The tomatoes also provide a fresh break from all that Adobo love. It's a great introduction to Filipino dishes if you have foreign friends over.

The Filipino take on pork sausages, how can that go wrong? This Baguio Longanisa is just full of deep garlic flavor that can certainly go alone or if you choose to dip it in something else to contrast its saltiness. You can choose vinegar, ketchup or whatever you fancy. Partner it with rice or perfectly toasted bread, that can work too. It's your breakfast, whatever makes you happy!

Something even we can say is fit for royalty, a slice of rye bread baked with imported cheese on top, ham, bacon, cold cuts in between and a sunny side up egg to finish the rack.... this is your ultimate sandwich. It's properly called Croque Madame, and it tastes heavenly! To take you less of the guilt, you can have the servings of salad on the side. It makes it all pretty!

Breakfasts just wouldn't be complete without corned beef. But this one's more special. They call it the Hole In One Corned Beef. The chunky full flavored beef is just what a man or woman like in their protein. They even keep it hot on a plate, truly something to warm you up in the morning.

Feel the morning sunshine even on the plate as you take in a different pancake, more special than the usual. This is Sour Cream Pancakes with Caramelized Banana and Candied Walnuts. Drizzle a little Maple Syrup and poof! Fluffy, sweet and got some crunch. How can you go wrong with that?

Oh, I forgot to tell you. Did you know that Cafe 1771 also has awesome interiors? Yeap! It's classy, and very shabby chic. It's the perfect place for meetings, a get together or maybe just plain meals if you want breakfast, lunch or dinner. Now how's that for a perfect setting right?

Oh and before I end this, we need a sweet note to end the show.

Sugar free Carrot Cake and a ladle full of cream cheese frosting topped with warm roasted cashew nuts. It's got all the things you want less the sugar on a regular one. Actually, this is even better.

This is hands down their best dessert special. It's their Coffee Pie. Nothing like a usual pie, but more of an explosion of decadent chocolate and coffee in one mouth full. I love it so much that the next time I went back, I ordered it again. Don't make the mistake of missing to order this off the dessert menu.

Singing like there's no other song to be sung tomorrow is this tempting Opera Cake. The thing has lots of layers of cream, chocolate ganache and cake form too. It's a wonderful symphony of sweetness, and more chocolate goodness in one slice. The place definitely needs your presence. How could you even think of not going there to get your own perfect breakfast?

You shouldn't miss doing yourself a favor, go to El Pueblo in Ortigas Center or simlpy call Café 1771 for reservations. Dial 631-7340 / 470-6559 / 0917-866-0442/ 631-7339 and save me a seat. I'll crash your party just for the perfect breakfast I'm craving for every week! =)

Taters Snack League Launches New York Beef Hotdog!

Wednesday, June 26, 2013

It's my second time here in Tater's Eastwood and I'm up tp discover yet another gem in their books as they launched something really good. This is Tater's New York Beef Hotdog. I actually just saw this last week during the movie night I had with my folks and surprisingly it's very affordable.

They kinda gave me a hint the last time I was here. Just the thought that they will be coming out with new flavors patterned with US cities got me giddy. They are pegged like a baseball brand/Sports bar after all and it's a cool thing we don't have to go to the states to get these treats! I had to order one of these in their Eastwood City branch. It's right beside the cinema where almost all Tater's branches are found.Unless it's the big restaurant in Bacolod that is.

This stuff is for MEN. For guys who want adventure. For people who are not afraid to be adventurous and want it HOT! Just imagine your pure all beef Hotdog, smothered in ketchup/tomato base, mustard, my favorite mean green Jalapeno peppers, chopped onions and tons of pickles... I could have had 3 of these in one sitting. But of course since I was on a diet and I had to fit into my clothes, this mouthwatering piece of hotdog meat inside a well sized bun was enough to keep me sane throughout the day!

The New New York Beef Hotdog only costs 99 Pesos Ala Carte and around 145 if you want it with a huge Iced Tea and flavored Tater chips too! I highly suggest you ask them to put in flavors to your iced tea because they have blueberry and others upon request, and while it's still available of course! They also use environmentally responsible containers for all their food products. Because it's worth it!

No wonder they have awards on display. They are considered one of the best food vendors in Eastwood City. You should definitely try these guys out before or after watching a movie. If you are even lucky, you can spot one or more celebrities in the store. Case in point was Jinri Park. She ordered a couple of burgers and chips before they went in for a movie. =) Sorry I had to eavesdrop like that!

If you prefer a more healthier alternative, you can opt for the Churkey Burger which most ladies love! I featured that the first time I ate in this establishment here.

If you don't believe me, try it. If you still don't believe me, just look at this line in Trinoma when I went to the Man of Steel premier. Everybody else was ordering it... what are you waiting for? You must make time for yourself and grab one of these new New York Beef Hotdogs while it's hot!

Will update this post with more photos soon!

Julie Anne San Jose x Get Laud!

Sunday, June 23, 2013

I've seen her perform the first time I visited the set of defunct Party Pilipinas years ago; she was one of the few performers in that show that impressed me and I must day she has definitely made a name for herself. She's Julie Ann Jose, and this beautiful lass who just arrived from a US trip got us excited during the Get Laud! Event at the 3rd floor of SM City North Edsa's main mall.

Clad in a simple black top, hot pink skirt, moderately chunky accessories from the same store, she shared her excitement about big news when she arrived in the Philippines. She said,  just hearing the remarks and appreciation of her album by production, album and network executives, a testament such as a QUADRUPLE PLATINUM AWARD surely was much of a great welcome home package she never expected. She surely owes it a lot to her fans who continue to support by buying her album legally and also request her songs on the radio. She says the amount of airplay really helped in achieving her dreams of becoming the lone person to achieve this feat from GMA Records.

She is a little busy studying now and she is attending regular classes at Angelicum Colleges. She's also glad that they don't treat her differently in school that's why she's so thankful to everyone as this really keeps her grounded. She admits she even takes her homework to the set so she could work on her assignments in between takes. She needs a year to graduate in her Communications course so she is really trying to get serious this time. Her schedule previously had her take time off from school because she couldn't handle it and work at the same time. She's taken only a few units and try again this time so she could graduate at least on the dean's list!

She's excited to also show what they've been up to these couple of days as she'll try to win with the group again in Sunday All Stars! It's all hard work and but says it's all worth it! She shared that she even gave suggestions for the songs they are performing so it's really going to be a big surprise come Sunday!

She says she's so thankful about the brands that also help her. Get Laud has given her their unending support, even immortalizing her on their 25 stores around the country and by making her their gorgeous official endorser too!

I've seen quite number of pieces that looked quite expensive but I think their store doesn't even carry anything that is over a thousand bucks. Practicallity + Quality and Affordability in one roof! Imagine that!

If Julie Ann Jose likes these stuff, why shouldn't you right!?

Thank you so much to GMA Artist Center and Get Laud! for inviting us to this event! It was wonderful! And it was nice to get to know Julie Ann Jose on a more personal level. Till next time! :)
